Story
Senior dogs make such great house guests. They are typically more relaxed and already know household rules. If this is the type of dog that might fit in your household, then we believe Hope is for you. Hope is confident on her own but thoroughly enjoys affection from people she trusts and would prefer to be a lap dog. She's an 10-year-old senior black mouth cur who weighs around 53 pounds. Hope enjoys other dogs that have an independent personality, another senior would be ideal. If you think Hope would make a great addition to your family and you own your home in either Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Lake, or Osceola county FL, then please read over our adoption process and fill out an adoption screening form here: https://mettarescuefamily.org/adoptable-dogs   ##1193524##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Arya is a sweet girl who wants to find a hooman/family who will be patient with her and help her come out of her shell.  Once she warms up, she loves butt scratches and being petted. She is unsure of new people and needs time. She is very treat motivated and that does help!     Arya will need a home with a yard. She is much better at going outside, but does not like noise or if it is too "peopley" as we call it although we have seen much improvement lately.  She especially likes going out at night when it is quiet and loves to do zoomies. She is really fast!  She is happiest when we have her out in our backyard with a taller fence where she feels more sheltered.    She does need to be supervised as she is interested in creative snacking outside.  She loves soft squeaky toys, crinkly toys chewing on bones, and is both house and crate trained.    She does fine sleeping loose in the house at night and has recently decided that sleeping in the bed with us is pretty great.    She isn't toooooo much of a bed hog. Arya is eating K/D prescription food. She does not have kidney issues, but her vet is recommending it due to the low sodium. She also is on an eye drop medication every twelve hours. She had been drinking excessive amounts of water, and after bloodwork and other tests, her vet started a trial of this in March. Arya showed a good response to the medication and will remain on it.    Arya's favorite place to sleep during the day is in a bed under my desk but loves other dog beds also.   For some reason she especially likes the small ones and curls herself up as small as possible to fit in them.  I believe she feels safe there. She does well with other dogs of all sizes, but occasionally can be dog selective and does not like to be disturbed when sleeping. Graduated from camp in 2024: Pet Rescue By Judy has teamed up with an incredible program called the Greyhound Advancement Center which will allow some of our dogs to attend a ten-week prison training program. The program originally started to help retired racing greyhounds learn how to “dog”. Greyhound racing is now illegal in our state, but the program worked so well that they decided to open up to other rescues and accept different breeds. Each dog is teamed up with an inmate who is in their dog training program. This program allows inmates to gain an important skill that they can bring with them when they are released. The head trainers are the best of the best and we are sure that these dogs are going to come out of this program with all kinds of tricks up their little doggy sleeves.  Our dogs are so blessed to be able to learn important obedience training to help with their confidence and make them awesome additions to a family. We cannot thank Greyhound Advancement Center enough for giving these dogs a leg up on getting into their forever home!  ****************************************** Arya was surrendered to PRBJ when her family had to move but were not able to take her. She is a sweet cuddle bug that would enjoy living in home with or without kids. She does great with kids of all ages and is great with dogs and cats too! Arya is housebroken, crate trained, and she enjoys sleeping with her family or in her crate with the door open:) As she is a bit timid, a fenced backyard is required to give her a safe place to romp and play in. New owners are encouraged to hang out with her while in the yard and leash walk her to better socialize and acclimate her to new surroundings.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 15, 2026, 3:47 pm

Story
LONGEST RESIDENT!  Hi! I'm Mustard. I don't know how much you know about Florida curs - but 2/3 of every litter of true Florida Cur Dogs are born with a bobbed tail, just like mine! People seem to love my nubbin wags! Florida Curs are a very special, active, working line dog - I come with a lot of energy, but am also an amazingly fun and silly class clown. If you're looking for an active companion to hike, adventure and train with - I'm your guy! Mustard is a 2-year-old, 58 lb, Black Mouth Cur mix looking for his forever family. He is UTD, neutered, microchipped, house trained, and walks well on leash. He is crate trained, and is not destructive when left loose in the house. Mustard is very energetic and would love a family to cuddle and go on adventures with. He is not good with cats and needs work on his social skills with other dogs but has a lot of potential to do great with them. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body but is A LOT of dog and needs firm boundaries or he plays too rough, for this reason we are recommedning him to an adult only home with handlers who are physically strong and set good boundaries.  Adoption fee REDUCED $50, includes:Dog spayed and current on vaccinations.30 days of free pet insurance through MetLifeA free "clean start" bath, ear cleaning, teeth brushing and nail trim at ScenthoundFree training support for the life of the pet, including group classes. Adoptions are by appointment, please fill out an application so we can get to know you better. ##1518452##
