Meka is a 5–6-year-old rescue adopted from ACCT Philadelphia. While we don’t know much about her past, she has become a loving, loyal, and affectionate companion to the people she knows and trusts. Once comfortable, Meka loves being with her family, getting attention, relaxing at home, and spending time outside. She doesn’t require a high level of daily exercise and is happy with a quiet, comfortable routine. Like many rescue dogs, Meka can be fearful of unfamiliar people and needs time and patience to build trust. She does best in a calm, predictable home with an experienced adopter who understands rescue dogs and respects her boundaries. She is not a good fit for young children or a home with frequent unfamiliar visitors. Meka has had fear-based reactions in the past, so understanding and managing her triggers is important. Her skin allergies are well-managed with routine veterinary care. For the right experienced home, Meka has an incredible amount of love and loyalty to give. ❤️

Story
Meka was found on the streets of Philadelphia and taken in by the SPCA. My husband found her online and rescued her 5 years ago. We have loved having Meka as apart of our family. However, with our family soon growing, we are looking to find her a new home so we can focus solely on raising our child. We would love to find meka a new home where she can run around and enjoy the outdoors. Meka is VERY trained. She walks without a leash. If you say heel, she will walk right by your side until you say break. If you say “bed” she will go right to her bed and stay there until you break her off. She is trained to not go on couches or beds. She sleeps in her crate every night! She does have bad allergies so she takes an allergy pill every morning and twice a week She she would need to be given an allergy vaccine to help her keep her allergies under control and stop her from itching.

As a predominantly inside dog, JoJo is house trained but is used to spending time outside in a fenced yard.
