Story
Hello, My name is Bucky and I'm an 11 month old collie mix puppy looking for my next place to call home. I love to jump and play, toys and chews help me get all my puppy energy out. I have met all kinds of people and even lived with a dog, I am just a pup who's still learning and would do anything for a treat. I'm pretty fast, quite athletic, so no bird friends for now but if you want a buddy to play with I'm your guy. Come stop by Woods Humane SLO if you want to spend time with a cool guy like me, I'd love for a chance to find my next home. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 45 Age: 0yrs 11mths 2wks

Story
Reba is a 4-year-old spayed Border Collie who is friendly but appreciates a slow introduction. She was surrendered through no fault of her own—Reba was being picked on by the other two dogs in the home. Reba has lived only with those dogs and will need slow, thoughtful introductions to new canine friends. While she did chase the cat on the property, a cat-free home or careful management would be best. Reba was gentle and appropriate with her previous owner when introduced to older children. This sensitive girl would do best in a calm, structured home with someone who understands her breed and can help her build confidence. With patience and stability, Reba will likely blossom into a loyal and loving companion.

Story
Daisy is a sweet, shy 3-year-old Queensland Heeler / Border Collie mix who is blossoming in foster care after a tough start in the shelter. She was surrendered due to her strong herding instincts toward cats and small dogs. Daisy is gentle, affectionate, and loves being near her people—whether that’s going for a walk or relaxing on a cozy dog bed nearby. She’s housetrained (with the occasional accident during transitions), crate trained, sleeps quietly through the night, walks nicely on leash, and rides well in the car—especially if the destination is the beach. Daisy is smart, eager to please, and enjoys puzzle toys and snuffle mats. Loud noises can startle her, but she gains confidence when walking with another dog. Daisy is a bit overweight and is currently working on slimming down with regular walks. She isn’t very vocal overall—a rare trait for a Heeler—though she may whine briefly while adjusting to being crated in a new home. Once settled, she’s calm and content and often chooses her crate as a safe, comfortable place to relax.Daisy does best with dogs her size or larger and would need a cat-free home with no small dogs. Due to her herding instincts, she may do best in a home with older, dog-savvy children who can respect her space. What you’ll love most? Her happy food-time dance, goofy couch jumps, and sweet snuggles. If you’d like to meet Daisy, please contact SLO County Animal Services at 805-781-4400 to get in touch with her foster.

Story
Border Collie/Retriever mix, femaleKC is a Golden Retriever/Border Collie mix and she does every bit of both. She is about 18 months old.  KC was spending her days in a small crate with a family that didn’t want her anymore.  Luckily someone stepped in, and now KC is here.  KC is plug and play.  She is good with kids, cats, everything! She's fantastic off a leash , fetches and she'll bring it back and put out on your hand! I can't say enough good stuff about this young lady. KC has had so little experience in a car, she's very drooley while driving (or flying) But she's quiet and calm about it.   KC is chipped, vaccinated, and will be spayed before being adopted. Story
Border Collie/Aussie mix femaleWelcome Mae! Mae is a Border Collie/ Aussie / kelpie mix. She was intentionally bred by some ranchers and then kicked to the curb at a very young age because she didn’t show working potential. Some former CCHDR adopters got wind of this and took her in temporarily - got her spayed, up to date on vaccines, and then reached out to us for help with placement. Mae is super sweet and friendly with people, kids, and other dogs. NO cats, chickens, or livestock. She’s HIGH energy and intelligent…all the things you’d expect from a dog of this breed makeup. She’s young too - only 9 months old, 30-35lbs. She’s got some manners and basic obedience to learn, but has her wits about her. She just needs a dedicated and training-focused handler to make up for lost time. She is crate trained. Mae is looking to be someone’s pet. She will need an active, breed-savvy home to keep up with her mentally and physically. Do you have what it takes to keep a dog of this caliber fulfilled? If so, send us an application.
