Story

I don’t know what happened to her before I got her, but she has a lot of fear and anxiety. When I first started caring for her, she made great progress, especially when gently socializing with other dogs. Having another calm dog around really helped her confidence. She has never been aggressive—she may bark at unfamiliar people, but it’s always from fear. Loud noises also make her shake. Because of recent health and family issues, I can’t give her the stable, quiet home she needs, and her anxiety has gotten worse. She has all her shots and takes a monthly flea pill. She recently became so stressed that she stopped eating and drinking consistently, and pushing her seemed to make it worse. I believe her struggles are environmental, not medical. She is a very sweet, gentle dog who wants to feel safe. I’m hoping to find a patient home, ideally with another friendly dog, where she can rebuild her confidence and enjoy life again.

Kassidy, my sweet girl, where do I start. You have had it bad since the day you were born and you cannot seem to catch a break. As a puppy you had parvo and you fought so hard to survive and you did. Then you were adopted and taken out of state with your family when they realized their senior dog was not as welcoming to you as they thought. They continued to try but returned you. Then you were adopted again but that too did not work out either, at no fault of your own. So we sent you to the PAW Prison Training Program where you quickly became attached to your handler and he learned how smart you are. You learned many commands such as sit, shake, down, lay, rollover, stay, come, heel, leave it, crawl, get it, sit pretty, and more. So why is Kassidy still available? Because it will take a special person to understand that she wants to be with her people and she is the best girl! She can have some separation anxiety but it is only because she wants to get back to you and that is it. She is not destructive as she just wants to get back to you and her family. 🐾 Meet CJ (Calamity Jane) — Our Beautiful Redhead in Rehabilitation 🐾 CJ is currently in rehabilitation and learning to trust the world again 💔➡️💗 She is a 6-year-old mixed breed, about 40 pounds, with a stunning red coat and a playful spirit just waiting to fully shine. On February 23, 2023, we rescued CJ after she had been dumped in the middle of nowhere for at least 6 days with no food or water. Despite everything she went through, she is still here — and slowly choosing trust again 🙏 🩷 CJ’s Progress: • She is learning to trust us more and more every day • Other dogs really help bring her out of her shell 🐶 • She LOVES to play once she feels safe She still has a long road ahead, but the progress she’s made already is incredible 💗 🏡 What CJ Needs: • A patient foster (or experienced adopter) to continue her rehabilitation • A calm, understanding environment • Another friendly dog would be a HUGE benefit for her confidence CJ is not a “ready-made” dog — she is a work in progress. Skar continues to show us what an incredible dog he is. 💙 He does great with other dogs and is always happy. We’ll continue mixing him with more dogs during pack play, but so far… he’s been nothing but a good boy. 🏡 Now he just needs a home of his own. 🐾 SKAR’S STORY We saved Skar on July 11, 2024 — in 100-degree heat, on my birthday off the freeway. From the moment we brought him to safety, he has been nothing but joy. He got his name from the large scar on his side, a reminder of what he went through before rescue — likely from escaping under a fence. 💔 But he left that life behind… and never looked back. 🐶 ABOUT SKAR • 2.5 years old • Ibizan Hound / Queensland Heeler mix • High-energy and playful • Dog-friendly • Sweet, affectionate, and full of life Skar LOVES people and will jump up to give hugs (we’re working on it… even if we secretly love it 🥰).
