Story
Hank is a handsome and healthy 6 year old border collie / aussie mix. He is a smart dog and quick to learn. He loves endless pets, is food and job motivated, and wants to be by your side. He is a sweet boy. He’s gone to dog training classes and quickly picked up commands like come, stay, roll over, and place. He loves playing fetch with a ball and even hide and seek with the ball! He’s been part of a two dog household but he’s not sure about new dogs when they first meet. His herding instincts kick in which can cause an unwanted altercation. A successful new home for him would be with an owner that has time to continue his training and either someone who enjoys high endurance walks/runs or has a larger yard for epic fetch sessions.

Story
Little Lily has had a rough start to her life and is looking for an experienced adopter. Lily joined our rescue from South Texas where she was tied to a porch with her siblings for the first 1+ year of her life. For this reason, Lily didn't experience much as far as socializing with people, or getting out and about to see the world. Lily moved to foster care with older kids, other dogs, and cats, where she did really well. She transported to Boise and was adopted, but has had some struggles with her adoptive home and is seeking a better fit. Lily is extremely sensitive to sounds and gets scared easily, so she tends to be quite anxious. Lily's ideal home would have a confident older dog, and a quiet owner who is home often that would be willing to work with her anxious tendencies. Lily's adoption comes with a "Welcome Home Package" from A Pawsitive Alternative, which includes a consultation, training plan, and three weeks of assistance with the training plan. Lily loves to sleep on the bed, but she is crate trained as well. Her ideal new family will provide a lot of cuddles. Lily has an elevated pallet, she loves freeze dried salmon treats and is quick to learn with the right snacks. Lily is a sprinkler girl! She will run through them all day, and she loves a good car ride with the windows down. She loves other dogs and enjoys playing in the yard. If you're looking for a shadow dog, Lily is your girl! Overall Lily is a wonderful little dog that will make a great companion with the right family. If she sounds like a good fit, we encourage you to fill out our adoption application: freedomboundhounds.com/adopt Lily is available in the Boise area.

Story
This guy makes quite a splash wherever he goes! Literally! He loves being in water and nothing makes him happier than being with one or all of his people to play fetch in the water! Nacho is devoted to his family but friendly to everyone. He is the kind of dog you can take anywhere and he will be attentive, social, and well-behaved. He also has a terrific smile that makes you happy just looking at it and his sweetness shines through it. Nacho is great with almost all dogs; the one dog he has conflicts with is the foster brother that is too much like him and their herding dog behaviors sometimes clash. We are looking for a family for Nacho that fairly regularly will go on trails off leash with him as that is his other passion and he won’t be truly happy without it. Nacho is a true border collie and herding type dog in personality. He came from a working ranch in eastern Idaho and went through a couple of pet homes before coming to us. The first family found that he got stressed by their new baby and rehomed him. Toddlers are sometimes too much as well though he does okay when meeting them occasionally if he has the option of moving away when he feels nervous about them. In the second home he fathered puppies on the female in the home and the owner got overwhelmed and placed him with us. A little later we took half the litter after they were okay to leave their mom. Nacho helped raise them and is always very tolerant with them. Nacho is an active boy but not hyper or always moving, and he can settle down just fine as long as he is allowed to stay near one of his family. He definitely sees it as his job to keep an eye on his flock and gets concerned if he can’t keep track of its members, if not by observing them then at least know where they went. Nacho has had basic training and more. He is super talented when it comes to training and would make a wonderful sports dog as he is both very attentive, motivated, and intelligent. He also has a great start for disk/frisbee and loves it. He rides well in a car and enjoys it. He walks pretty well on a leash. He is not a fan of crates but will accept them. He does not like you to leave him home alone but will again put up with it okay. He would love to be in a home where one or more works from home at least part time but can adjust to full time if you make up for it at other times. Nacho is obsessed with the squirrels in the yard and not in a healthy way; this becomes worse when he is bored. He is pretty easy to call off them but goes right back if not given something else to do. Not having a black walnut tree at his foster home and a family of squirrels picking nuts all the time would probably help! He sheds a lot during shedding season but is very easy to handle for grooming and nail trimming. His coat is beautiful, soft, and an easy-to-maintain dry-and-shake variety. Nacho turns 3 on October 9. Winnie is the sweetest angel puppy! She is 9 weeks old and very smart, loving, cuddly, and playful. She would make the PERFECT addition to the family. Unfortunately we have a toddler that is simply afraid of all dogs including puppies so we can't keep her. Winnie is getting the hang of walking on a leash, using the potty outside, and not nibbling on shoes haha. She loves to sleep in a lap and does amazing sleeping throughout the night! She is also comfortable inside of her crate. She will come with her: crate, puppy bed, playpen, lots of chew toys, a puppy puzzle, food, treats, harness, leash, and more. Winnie is up to date on vaccines and is ready to find her forever home!!
