Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Spirit is a young Border Collie who was adopted recently by her current owner from what that owner describes as 'a bad situation.'  Her owner says Spirit is a lovely dog but is not fitting in with the resident dogs in her current home, and so is available for adoption. While Spirit and the resident dogs in her current home do not get along, this does not mean that Spirit will react negatively to all dogs in general; however, a potential owner should be aware of this and that Spirit may want to be an only dog in her home.  She is accepting of adults and older children, but will chase cats if the opportunity arises.  Since Spirit is living in Kentucky and is not being kept on heartworm preventive, she will need to be tested for heartworm and a potential owner should make this a priority. Spirit's current owner says that she is a 'Shy loving border collie that needs someone who knows how to work with them. Might not like other dogs.' If you are interested in meeting Spirit or learning more about her, please contact her current owner at hatfield.michelle@gmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 3:42 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Snickers is a resident in the Campbell County (TN) Animal Center, and the staff at the Center are seeking a foster or permanent home for him, as he is stressed in the shelter environment.   If you are interested in Snickers, please contact the Animal Center through their website or at the phone number given below.  Here is what they say about Snickers, a young BC/Aussie mix: Do you need a little Snickers in your life?? A yummy nougat encased in creamy chocolate to “make you feel you” as the famous advertisement states. This wonderful boy is a Aussie border collie mix. He is approximately 3 years old and weighs 60 pounds. Snickers has the kindest eyes that will melt your heart. To be honest he is struggling in the shelter. Although he is safe, knows he has delicious meals served daily and daily walks he would benefit greatly being in a foster or permanent home. Snickers is a fluffy black and white male, with white front legs and black back legs. He is very smart and is craving to be mentally and physically challenged. His breed mix desires to be trained, given commands and lots of mental stimulus. The shelter is a very loud and is over capacity so he is fearful of his current situation. Each day he improves and when he goes outside for his walks he does a cute little trot of a dance to celebrate. Snickers tail is the short stub that wiggles when he is outside smelling everything Mother Nature has to offer. So what does Snickers need?? A loving patient family that will allow him to relax and trust humans. He would enjoy a bubble bath and a nice brushing to make his black and white coat shine. Snickers is food motivated so his training will be fun and engaging for his new partner. So come in and meet this precious soul and let your heart melt with his sugary sweetness.   The Campbell County Animal Shelter adoption center is open Tuesday - Saturday, 12:00 - 5:30 PM at 749 Towe String Road, Jacksboro, TN 37757   Phone: 423-566-8018   Adoption applications can also be completed online at fccanimals.org  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 5, 2025, 8:56 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. The Center for Animal Rescue and Enrichment (CARE) of St Louis MO is seeking a forever home for Nancy Drew, a young BC mix who has been in their shelter since last September when she was picked up stray in the St Louis area. Nancy is a sweet young dog who is in need of a home where dog behavior is understood and she can receive the training she needs.  Her puppy behaviors of jumping and barking can be managed and the sooner she is adopted and out of the shelter, the sooner that positive training can begin, which will allow Nancy to be the friendly youngster that the shelter workers know. Because of her shelter environment, some things are not known about Nancy:  how she rides in a car, how she behaves around children, etc.  However, her overall personality is that of a dog who wants to learn things and be with people.   If you want to know more about Nancy Drew or make an appointment to meet her, please contact CARE St Louis at adopt@icarestl.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 2, 2025, 12:20 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Leo! Leo is a big-hearted, affectionate companion who’s ready to find his forever family. He absolutely loves cuddling with his foster parents and thinks he’s a lap dog, despite his impressive size! Leo thrives on daily walks and will “talk” to his foster family until it’s time to go out and explore. Car rides are another favorite—he’s happiest when he’s along for the journey and never wants to get out! Leo enjoys meeting new dogs and people, though he can be a bit guarded at first. He’s especially excited when children are running and playing, but because he doesn’t always realize his own strength, he’d do best in a home with older children. Leo responds well to commands like sit, down, stay, and sometimes shake, and his recall is adequate. He’s very well-behaved both in the house and the backyard, and loves playing with his toys or simply watching the world go by. Leo would thrive in a household with another dog, but he’s not compatible with cats. He’s cautious with strangers, but once he bonds, he’s incredibly loyal and loving—especially with his foster mom and her grandchildren. Leo does not like his paws touched, so a gentle approach is best. A fenced yard is a must for this curious explorer. If you’re looking for a devoted, playful, and lovable companion, Leo could be the perfect addition to your family. Come meet him and see why everyone who knows him falls in love! Leo is being fostered in Marquette Heights, IL   Please contact tldonahue@comcast.net if you have any questions about Leo.  You can complete an application to adopt Leo or any of the dogs on our website at www.comebyebcrescue.org .    *** The potential adopter will get a refund on the Application Fee if it’s determined by the Foster Parent that it’s not a good match for the dog and the dog for them, if we do not process their application.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 13, 2025, 1:03 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ernie is a 4 year old Border Collie who was found stray when he was approximately 2 1/2 years old and was adopted by the persons who found him.  However, Ernie is not comfortable with the young child in the home, and his owners want to find him a forever home where he will not be around young children.  If you want more information about Ernie, please e-mail his owner at kaitstanley@gmail.com. Ernie is a larger BC at 55 pounds, and has good house manners, rides nicely in the car, and likes his crate.  He is fine with other dogs; it is not known how he would react to cats.  As mentioned, small children make him anxious and he displays a variant of herding behavior that includes nipping.   This nipping is likely a sign of stress and Ernie would do well with an experienced BC owner who could address this stress and the nipping behavior.  Ernie has nipped a friend of the family in what could be considered a bite:  skin was not broken, but Ernie needs to learn behaviors that do not involve his use of teeth.  He is intelligent, active, and trainable.  His owners say this about Ernie: Ernie is a wonderful dog who loves to play with other dogs and snuggle. He is energetic but tires out with exercise, a visit to the dog park, or a walk. He loves routine and appreciates consistent walks every day. He does very well with his commands and doesn't mind spending time in his crate or going on car rides. Ernie does have strong herding/nipping behavior and, unfortunately, it seems that he exhibits more of this with small children. If you can offer Ernie a home without small children, he has the potential to be a wonderful companion.  Please contact his owner at the above e-mail.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 11, 2024, 8:56 pm
