Roscoe is just an absolutely outstanding boy. He makes no mess in his kennel and is very gentle and well mannered on leash. We have paired Roscoe with various other dogs and he is always tolerant and playful. Please come down to Macoupin County Animal Control and view Roscoe for adoption. Our hours are Weekdays 10-2, closed Tuesday, and Saturday 8-12.

Hi, my name is Axel and I'm about 12 weeks old.  Me and 3 of my litter mates were surrendered to Bond County Humane Society by our owner.  They had more dogs than they could afford and could not keep us.  Before I came to the shelter I lived in a home with 2 adults and 4 children and a cat.  There were a total of 11 puppies in my litter.  Our Mom is an Australian Shepherd Mix and one of our Dads could be a Great Pyrenees.   I am very well socialized and love to be with people.  I am the one who likes the most attention and I'm not bashful about letting you know.  I love belly rubs and cuddles.  You can tell by looking at me I like meal time the best.  I am learning my puppy manners. She’s is a sweetheart, loves to chew toys and play fetch. Only would be cautious with toddlers and younger because she will knock them over. No issues whatsoever and is very well kennel trained too. Got a new landlord that doesn’t want dogs on their properties so out of respect for them we need to find her a new home.

We’re not sure about Veronica’s backstory, but we know that she’s likely been through a lot. It seems as if someone wasn’t always very nice to her because she shuts down in some situations. But she does want to be right with her person, following closely on their heels. We think Veronica is about 6 years old. She is a gorgeous Australian shepherd with a gentle personality. While she is recovering from heartworm treatment, she still has energy and wants to play.  Veronica is deaf and has limited vision. She’s very smart and has learned several touch commands including “good girl” and “come.” She is learning to walk nicely on a leash and is housebroken. She sleeps nicely in her pen overnight. Veronica would do best in a home with a friendly dog to help give her confidence. She does not like being left alone for very long, so she’d love someone who is home most of the day. She’d love an active person because she loves to explore and go on adventures. She’d prefer a physical, fenced yard to keep her safe. This sweet, beautiful Aussie is being fostered in the St. Louis area.  ##2378212##

Audrey’s story began in an overburdened rural shelter when she and her brother Kane arrived at just sixweeksold — orphaned, emaciated, and so cold they were barely hanging on after their mother was found nearby, struck by a car. Out of a litter of seven, Audrey and Kane were the only survivors. From the very start, she proved she was a fighter with a heart full of resilience. Now ninemonthsold, Audrey has blossomed into a confident, joyful girl who loves life with every ounce of her being. She’s an Australianshepherd and husky mix — smart, playful, and affectionate, with a spirit that shines wherever she goes. Audrey loves other dogs, especially big dogs and thrives in their company. She’s happiest when she’s playing, running, or splashing in the water, and she never turns down a good adventure. Audrey is brave, curious, and full of personality. She’s the kind of dog who wins hearts everywhere she goes and loves being close to her people. She and Kane will not be adopted together, and Audrey is ready for a home of her own — one where she can continue to grow into the amazing dog she’s meant to be. Kane’s story began with heartbreak. At just six weeks old, he and his sister Audrey were brought into an overburdened rural shelter after their mother was found nearby, struck by a car. Out of a litter of seven cold, emaciated puppies, Kane and Audrey were the only survivors. They fought through parasites, illness, and sarcoptic mange — proving from the very beginning that they are resilient, determined little souls. Today, at nine months old, Kane has grown into the sweetest, snuggliest boy. He’s a smaller Aussie/husky mix with a gentle heart and a soft spirit.  Kane can be shy when meeting new people, but once he feels safe, he melts right into your arms. He loves being close and finds comfort in quiet companionship. Kane is wonderfully dogfriendly and gains confidence from canine friends. He loves to play, run, and explore, and he absolutely lights up around water — swimming is one of his favorite things. His zoomies are legendary, full of joy and silliness, and he’s happiest when he has room to stretch his legs and enjoy life. Kane and Audrey are not being adopted together, and Kane is ready for a home of his own — one that understands gentle encouragement, soft voices, and the magic of watching a shy dog come out of his shell.
