Ash is a sweet young boy, just under a year old, who loves everyone he meets! He’s great with other dogs and rides comfortably in a crate in the car. Smart and highly motivated by treats, he’s ready to learn and should be lots of fun to train. Ash was found as a stray in Southern Indiana alongside Salem and Binx. The shelter believes they may be littermates who were abandoned by their previous owner. His breed mix is a mystery—perhaps Cattle Dog, Border Collie, or Australian Shepherd—but that’s just our guess!  He’s brand new to rescue, and his foster family is still getting to know him. He’ll happily chase the foster’s cat for fun, but he’s never shown any intent to harm. Toby can get overwhelmed in new environments and is suspicious of strangers at first — but once he feels safe, he becomes incredibly affectionate, silly, and totally himself. In places he knows, he’s a very normal, happy, fun dog. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Kip is a young and petite Border Collie who is with the Central Texas Ruffugees rescue in Austin TX.  The rescue says this about Kip: Kip is about a year old and a petite 35 lbs. She is a really great girl—sweet, affectionate, and she gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She has been around cats and simply ignores them. She is already spayed, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Nancy is a sweet young dog who is in need of a home where dog behavior is understood and she can receive the training she needs.  Her puppy behaviors of jumping and barking can be managed and the sooner she is adopted and out of the shelter, the sooner that positive training can begin, which will allow Nancy to be the friendly youngster that the shelter workers know. Maeve is a soft, thoughtful dog. She can be cautious with new faces at first, but she warms up with a little time and space. Once she feels safe, she’s affectionate, loyal, and loves being close to her person. A 45-minute car ride would most likely be enough time for Maeve to become comfortable with someone. She may always be a bit suspicious of unfamiliar people, but she settles in quickly and does very well once she knows you. She’s crate trained and housetrained, rides nicely in the car, and does well with other dogs (especially calmer companions). She’s an easy dog to live with once she understands her environment. She’s also great for handling — fine with baths, nail trims, and being touched all over once she’s comfortable. Maeve has a strong instinct to chase squirrels and may rush toward unfamiliar people, so a secure, fenced yard will be important to keep her safe and help prevent unwanted situations. Maeve at a glance: • Beautiful black & white coat — total eye candy • Crate trained & housetrained • Cautious with new people, but warms up reliably • Affectionate and loyal once she knows you • Good with other dogs (prefers calmer companions) • Rides well in the car • Needs a home with a secure, physical fenced yard • Has not been tested with children Maeve will do best in a patient home that lets her settle in at her own pace. Roscoe is just an absolutely outstanding boy. He makes no mess in his kennel and is very gentle and well mannered on leash. We have paired Roscoe with various other dogs and he is always tolerant and playful. Please come down to Macoupin County Animal Control and view Roscoe for adoption. Our hours are Weekdays 10-2, closed Tuesday, and Saturday 8-12.
