It isn’t required that they be adopted together but they would sure love that possibility. These boys are very sweet and affectionate boys.  Ty and Noah need to be placed in a home without children.   They are initially a bit suspicious of people they don’t know, Ty more so than Noah, but given a little bit of time to become familiar they are both loves. They are both good with other dogs and regularly interact with other dogs. They both love to chase along after my Border Collie when we are playing fetch.   Noah likes to stalk kitties and Ty could care less about them. They both enjoy riding in the vehicle but both are nervous when they are in an unfamiliar environment. They are both good in the house but are still crated when I am not home. Their crate behavior is much better now compared to when they were youngsters but still need the opportunity to go out for potty breaks often and shouldn’t be left for more than about 4 hours at a time.   Their idea of a perfect home setting would be a quiet, country setting with a large fenced yard for them to play and have fun with their people and to have at least one stay at home parent. They would be best as home bodies and to go along places for ride alongs but are not the type of dogs that will enjoy going EVERYWHERE and being around lot of “strangers” on a regular basis. If they are not adopted together they would do best in a home with another dog because they do seem to feel safer when they are in the presence of other dogs.   Noah has been introduced to some agility obstacles and even though he is hesitant at first, when he is given a little time to get the obstacle figured out he seems to have fun learning how to maneuver the obstacle. These boys are looking for a patient person to provide them with a forever home. Someone who will love them for the soft, sensitive boys that they are and allow them to live in a quiet and predictable home. **************************************************************** Ty has come a long way from where he was at 5 months of age. He is now a sweet and cuddly boy that is very comfortable in his familiar environment. He is excellent with other dogs and fine with cats. He is typically a bit suspicious of unfamiliar people but if given a little space and time he warms up fairly quickly. Ty is a very soft and sensitive boy that is very effected by a change in his environment or routine. He is looking for a home with humans that are very patient and understanding and realize that he will need adequate time to become familiar with them and his new home….this will not happen in 1 week, or two weeks and likely not even 6 weeks. He is a wonderful doggie but wasn’t allowed to have the best start in life and had no exposure to novel stimuli and very little interactions with humans until he was rescued by CBBCR at 5 months of age.He needs a forever home where he won’t have to be crated for more than about 2-3 hours at a time…and a home that will give him plenty of opportunity to go outside for potty breaks…..or someone that would have access to a doggy daycare where he could go daily while his humans are at work away from home. (12/6/14)******* Ty is a very calm BC. One of the most, calm pups I’ve ever been around. He is an observer and likes to lay and watch what is going on and takes it all in…. He enjoys lounging in the baby pool on hot days….he LOVES squeaky toys but will shred them. He also like to have a good chew on a hard bone while he is sunning himself in the yard. He doesn’t like to chase the water hose but loves to chase other dogs while he is chasing the water hose. He is an affectionate and cuddly guy. Good for bathing and nail trimming and acts reasonable on leash. Again, a softie and is worried when out of his familiar environment. He is the biggest of his brothers but is still in the 40# range. He is a sweetie pie but is soft and will also need a very patient and understanding human in his life. When meeting new people, he is typically stand-off-ish…..but is quiet. He does not bark at people he doesn’t know and will warm up much more quickly than his brother. (9/24/14)********************************* Ty is the biggest pup of the litter and is just as sweet as he is big!  Born on September 16, 2013, he is one of the softest pups of the bunch and takes a little longer to warm up to new people and new environments than his brothers...but once he does is very much a joy to be around. He also loves squeaky toys and if left to his own with them, will shred them.... He loves playing with other doggies and is good with the kitties. He is VERY foodie and will be a fun boy to train due to his intense food drive! His foster says that he will mingle when people come for meet and greets with the other dogs, but he does not yet approach strangers.  He is good with cats and dogs, loves chew bones and will chase balls, Gus does well with a routine and would do best placed in a home with a canine companion.************************************************** Gus has come a long way....but still has miles to go. He loves, loves, loves playing with other dogs and I think that has really saved him. He is one of the first dogs to welcome new dogs and initiate play. He is good with dogs of all sizes....toy to giant. He willingly follows me around through the yards and is always very curious about what I'm up to. He comes within sight when I call him. He comes inside when called and seeks out his crate. With the every day routine he is great....outside of his 'normal' tasks or outside of his familiar play yard he is non-functional and very much a flight risk. He is excellent in his crate. Good with kitties. Still won't come up to me for any type of touching. He does like to come sniff me though if I am very still. He loves tennis balls and chew bones. When I do need to handle him....he will just freeze and tolerate it. And surprisingly he is good in the bathtub. ....again will freeze and tolerate it....but doesn't try to bolt or escape during his bath time. Tolerates nail trimming as well. This poor guy.....he will never be what we think of as 'Normal' but he is slowly finding out who he is and what he enjoys....it will be fascinating to see what a year will bring.... I think Gus and his mother, Livie (as they are very similar), both need to go to a home that wants a lifetime project, someone with an endless supply of patience and someone that doesn't really 'need' anything from their dog. He definitely needs to go to a home with another dog as he feels more safe when he has a buddy.....and they would need a super secure fenced yard. (12/16/14)**************************************************Gus – If you can imagine how a feral barn kitty behaves and flees from perceived danger…..that will pretty much give you an idea of Gus. He is basically feral. In the time that he has been with me he has become very good at everything that he can predict and what becomes a routine in his day to day activities. He knows how to get to the door to go outside, he goes to the proper gate to get in to his play yard area, he will come when called from his play yard to the door to come back inside, he will go find his crate and go in voluntarily. Just this past week or so he has been starting to want to approach me while other dogs are near me to get some good sniffs. I just ignore him and let him do his thing and I try not to put any social pressure on him whatsoever. His interactions with other dogs has progressed much more rapidly. He loves meeting new dogs and regularly initiates play with other dogs. He really enjoys chew time with hard bones, nylabones, etc… and he will chase after balls then will act silly playing with the ball by himself. He was actually quite good for his bath and nail trim…..frozen as you can imagine…but didn’t try to constantly flee like Livie does. When riding in the car he needs to be in a plastic crate…..in a wire crate he is frantic and tries to chew out of crate and screams like he is being killed….in the plastic crate he is calm and quiet and rides very well. At the dog school he is learning to follow pressure from the leash on his collar…..but in a new environment such as the vet…where he can see the great outdoors….he will frantically fight the leash and act completely feral….. I carry him whenever we leave his familiar and safe little world.  He will need a super secure, most likely a privacy fenced yard….he does know how to dig in corners of fences and I have had to block all my corners, even with having the turf down. He should NEVER be left outside unattended…he is a major flight risk and would be extremely difficult to catch. A new adopter would need to let him drag a line for several weeks until he could settle in to a new routine. The person that will best be suited for Gus and Livie for that matter…..is someone looking for a project…..to actually SAVE a dog. A person that has no expectations and is just patient and willing to let things progress at a slow speed. He has tried but just struggles with himself about if it is safe to approach humans. He likes toys but will shred soft, squeaky toys. He is foodie and enjoys learning. He did get to go to an agility open class once and very quickly found out how much fun it is to put his paws up on things ;) He is a very cuddly and affectionate guy. He does tend to have times in his crate where he salivates and has anxiety – but it is not all the time and seems to happen randomly…not because of one thing or another. He is good in the car, reasonable on leash. Good for bathing and nail trimming. I really like Noah and think he has the potential to be a nice companion level pooch for the right person. He gets a bit worried in new environments and is a soft, sensitive young guy…that also will need a patient and understanding human. He very much enjoys playing with other dogs....was a barker at my kitties at first but now they are old news....he is very good in his crate...it is a rare day that he would have an accident in his crate....which again is awesome compared to how we started. I believe Noah will blossom into a wonderful companion level dog in the right home, that is patient and gentle and knows how to keep him safe and satisfied in his day to day adventures!! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Please contact stephodellfcr@hotmail.com for more information about this pet.BEAR NEEDS TO BE PLACED IN A HOME WITHOUT CHILDREN AND NEEDS AN ADVANCED DOG SAVVY HUMAN, HE ALSO REQUIRES A FENCED YARD (5 FOOT OR HIGHER)Bear....aka 'Air Bear' Bear is a 11 1/2 year old smooth coat male Border Collie mix being fostered in Plymouth, Indiana This dog can fly through the air....typically after a tennis ball ;) Bear is approaching 10 years of age but hasn't really slowed down over the years.... he is still willing to play fetch ALL day if I'd let him. Bear is good with other dogs, however he can be a bit of a target for dogs to pick on.... he hates confrontation with other dogs and will usually bark and sort of scream a bit to ask them to give him some space. He is not a dog that wants to fight with other dogs....he wants to flee. He currently lives in my home with 10 other dogs and is great! He will chase kitties for fun but has never tried to hurt them. He is suspicious of people he doesn't know and will avoid them when given the choice....however he will play ball with ANYONE!! Once he is familiar and comfortable with someone he is great. I have zero issues with handling him for grooming, nail trimming, etc. He does have to be muzzled for vet visits as he doesn't want strangers invading his personal space. I typically muzzle and handle him for his vet visits so that he is not stressed about someone doing it. He has taken a few Agility classes and has worked with a few different people in those classes and works well with other people in a training setting. He wouldn't take much more work to have ready for Novice Agility classes. He would make a nice performance partner for a dog savvy handler. One that understood that fearful dogs need space and to feel safe before they can be expected to perform in unfamiliar environments. Bear has been overlooked for years due to his quirks which I can understand but he is just a super easy dog to live with in my country setting. Meet Crew Crew is a 2 year old neutered/male, classic black and white, Border Collie. Approximately 35 pounds. He is very lean and could stand to gain 5 to 10 pounds....he just burns off everything he eats. Crew is being fostered in Plymouth, Indiana. Crew is EXCELLENT with other dogs!! His forever home will need to include another dog. He isn't an 'only dog home' sort of dog. He plays at doggie daycare regularly and loves playtime. He also enjoys fetch. When other dogs are involved in the game, he will often just play chase as another dog is doing the fetching. He is very soft tempered and will not push to get the ball if another dog is going for it. He is curious about my cats, but when he approaches them, he quickly loses interest and moves on. He is extremely fearful of loud noises. And very suspicious of unfamiliar people. Due to him being a bit more fearful than most BCs, he should be considered a flight risk. His forever home will have to be 100% diligent that doors and gates to areas that aren't securely enclosed or fenced are kept closed and latched at all times. Once he becomes familiar with a new person, he is very affectionate. It does take him some time to warm up to new people. A home with children wouldn't be appropriate for him. If your home is a busy one, with lots of visitors....or if you have older children that enjoy having friends over, then he isn't an appropriate dog for you. It would be likely that he would need to be kept crated or separate from visitors he doesn't know. Crew likes and thrives in a quiet environment that also has other dogs for him to play and hang out with. He is crate trained and house trained. He is excellent when traveling in the car. He is good on leash.   Crew is now ready to start looking for his forever home. He is a LOVE   He is very sweet and friendly with people he knows ...Excellent with dogs and reasonable with cats. He gets excited to see the kitties and would like to chase but doesn't ever try to put his mouth on them. He is very soft in terms of his temperament. He is great in his kennel or crate. He rides very well in the car. Very food motivated. Very promising young boy!! And very much my kind of dog... I love everything about this pup and he is super handsome to top it all off!!   He is a very sensitive and sweet boy. He was relinquished to a Southern Indiana shelter for chasing calves Who knew Border Collies liked to chase !?! He LOVES other dogs but is very suspicious of new people.  Crew will bark at new people.  He can be fearful of new places, noises and things and will require a secure fence (no invisible fences) since he could be a flight risk if he gets spooked by something. He is excellent in his crate and a very good rider in the vehicle. He is doing very well in the house now.... initially he was worried about being inside.... he had been an outside dog before coming in to rescue. He would do best in a quiet home with another dog or dogs. He was recently introduced to sheep. He was initially worried about the new environment but did finally settle in and we were able to see his herding instinct kick in. He has been neutered and completely vetted. He is ready to find a home of his very own that is perfectly suited for his needs. Crew requires a fence (no electric fence) and an adult only home. He is a quick learner and works happily for verbal praise. He is wonderful with other dogs of all descriptions and turns out he is a fantastic puppy-raiser – he is just phenomenal with the pushy and obnoxious baby border collie that has joined the household. He is also showing amazing speed and agility in his games with her – like a little border collie cutting horse! Faber is fully enjoying life as he waits for his forever home.” Faber is a red tri-color smooth-coated male estimated to be born in January-February 2022. He is named after a top-of-the-line art pencil (Faber Castell), a nod to his truly artistic coat coloration: he is a deep dark rich red accented by copper-to-blond points which transition subtly into white feet and facial markings, with coppery highlights on the side of his thighs and striking green-yellow eyes that dominate his first impression. He has prick ears, with a left ear that is variably upright or slightly tipped. Faber is a convenient smaller size Border Collie at about 19.5” at the withers and 33lb lean weight. Faber is being fostered in Savoy IL.Faber was found as a stray running in Southern Indiana when he was about 6 months old – he was afraid of even well-meaning people and had to be trapped. He was fostered in a private home before being transferred for foster with Come Bye Border Collie Rescue in January 2023 and has been with his current foster since then so, between the two foster homes, a lot is known about him. Faber LOVES, LOVES, LOVES other dogs and gets along very well with dogs of all types and sizes. He comes alive in the presence of other dogs and will need to go to a home where there will be abundant opportunities for him to play and be around others. He is reported to also be good with cats. He has shown no interest in chasing rabbits or other wildlife, bikes, cars etc. while on his walks. He walks exceptionally well on a leash, adjusting his pace to match his handler’s and calmly stopping and waiting when his handler stops to talk or do something else. He is environmentally very stable except will sometimes startle if surprised by a sudden human appearance or human-related noise. Otherwise, he is neutral to random noises, traffic, different surfaces or structures or weather elements (storms, rain, hot/cold) and completely non-reactive to other animals.Faber potties readily on or off leash but prefers to ‘go’ when he is taken out for that purpose, not when he is on his pleasure walks. When travelling, we establish a potty area and he readily understands and uses it promptly when taken there. He rides extremely well in the car and readily jumps in his crate as soon as the door is opened. He has done very well when having to spend long hours crated in the car – he likes his crate and is content to watch quietly, occasionally working on a chew toy. He has superb crate manners at home as well – he loves his crate and will often go there to signal that he believes it’s time for dinner or for bed, at times he wants to rest, or if he becomes uneasy about something. He is clean, quiet and content in his crate and pretty much ignores anything meant as crate-time enrichment – he is content without it. He has great house manners – he doesn’t get into things and has only played with or chewed dog toys meant for that purpose. He does tear up cardboard (paper towel or toilet paper tubes, 12pk beverage boxes) but those are considered and given as dog toys in his current home. He absolutely loves toys, especially those made of gel plastic, and he will happily entertain himself endlessly with them. He is not destructive of toys but will ‘defluff’ the plush ones if a hole develops or continue tearing one that another dog has damaged. He is still figuring out about playing with a human – he is interested in human-toy-Faber interaction and shows a natural retrieve but is uncertain about bringing the toy back all the way back seemingly because of residual distrust of an approaching or reaching person. He likes to gather toys into a pile or hide them in the crevice between dog beds. He is a typical level of ‘selfish’ about toys with other dogs which manifests as playing keep away but he has given NO reason for concern about resource guarding: other dogs can come and take anything away from him without issue. Faber is a very quiet dog but he will alert bark if someone comes to the door or approaches the yard when he is outside.Faber is super smart, playful and athletic – he is extremely fast and can turn on a dime. As he becomes more confident in his current home, he has started to show some herding tendencies which are easily interrupted if indicated. He learns readily and very quickly comes to understand and cooperate with household routines. Formal obedience training has not yet been initiated because he will first need to have a stronger foundation of trust and building of a reward system that is meaningful to him (his wariness about direct human interaction makes him reluctant to accept rewards of food, attention or praise i.e. those are not yet rewarding to him because his caution about the person is still paramount). He is wonderfully behaved for grooming: though he doesn’t love baths or nail trims, he is always fully cooperative, and he has come to really enjoy being brushed. He readily eats dry kibble and does well on it. It is easy to give him medications (but he isn’t going to fall for the hide-it-in-food thing!). He is just a super easy-care, easy-to-live-with easy keeper with tons of potential.Faber’s difficult start in life, likely dominated by people trying to grab him or draw him in with food to capture him, built a dog that at 6 months of age was terrified of people. Even then, he never showed any tendency whatsoever to bite (he is a freeze or flee kind of guy and if he can’t flee, he freezes). He has made tremendous strides since then in learning to trust and he clearly shows the desire to bond and interact with his person but there remains some wariness he will need to continue to outgrow with continuing positive associations with people who are patient and aware. He can readily negotiate new environments, but it will take him a longer period to have confidence in his new human family. It is definitely worth the wait for this exceptional boy!Faber is most comfortable and seeks attention when his person is seated – he will then come up for petting and seems to enjoy stroking of his head and ears, firm rubbing of his muzzle with a cupped hand, and relatively firm thumping pats on the sides of his chest. When his person is standing, he will veer away if approached but otherwise follows around the house to watch what is going on. He accepts being hugged or picked up, but it worries him. When going out to the yard, he prefers to have his person go outside with him and will wait at the door until the person steps through then will go out. If the person turns to go back inside, he will turn and run inside but will stay outside to explore or play with the other dogs if the person stays outside. He now will occasionally go outside before the person steps out and has stayed out to play a couple of times. He loves chasing toys and playing tag or wrestling with other dogs, in or out of the house. He is always very appropriate with other dogs and adapts his level of interaction to the other dog’s personality and interest. He also settles well in the house and will curl up on the floor near his person for hours at a time.Faber is looking for a child-free home (not because he is a threat to them but because the type and level of activity of children and their natural desire to cuddle and pet the dog would be extremely stressful to him) and a home where he will get to share life with another dog. He will need a patient person who will help him continue to grow his trust and confidence and who understands that it will take a while to build the foundation that allows him to be the loving, devoted partner he so wants to be.A home with a secure fence would be best for this boy! UPDATE 6/13/2023: Faber has really accelerated his progress! He actively seeks out attention and petting and looks to engage with his person in play, now seeing people as the source and integral part of the best games. He now finds reward in happy verbal praise and will work for it. He has come to enjoy pausing on his adventure walks to sit with his person for getting rubs and pets and watching the world together. He is an all-weather, all-terrain kind of guy. He shows no concern for wind, rain or thunder and seems very heat-tolerant. He readily navigates different surfaces and would-be environmental barriers (creeks, downed trees, rocks, bridges, tall grass etc) with ease and calm. He really responds to toys as well as verbal praise and shows a good natural retrieve in fetch games. He is jumping a single bar off leash when asked – he is not sure why that pleases his handler so but he enjoys the game for the shared engagement with his person and the praise he gets afterward. He often shadows his person around the house or curls up by the chair for computer time but is equally content to play independently or hand with the other dogs.   Faber gets along exceptionally well with every other animal on the planet and delights in happy play with other like-minded dogs while respecting the boundaries of dogs not wanting his company. He is fantastic with cats, greeting interested cats politely, playing gently with those inviting him to do so and ignoring the rest. He has done a fair bit of travelling at this point and absolutely LOVES hotel rooms! He is super in the car and is good about waiting patiently and quietly in his crate while the other dogs are out working. For such a young dog, he is very mature in his behaviors while still being playful with the energy to be up for anything. He is about to embark on the new adventure of group training classes with other beginner dogs which he will continue until adoption.
