Story
Linda is a gentle, one-year-old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix, weighing in at about 37–40 pounds. This sweet girl has a soft, sensitive soul and a story of resilience that makes her all the more special. She was found in an isolated area in heartbreaking condition—malnourished, covered in fleas and ticks, and struggling with painful skin issues. A kind-hearted gentleman discovered her curled up in a ditch at the end of his gravel drive. He took her in, got her the medical care she desperately needed, and showed her love and kindness until she was ready to find a rescue. Thanks to him, Linda got a second chance at life. Because of her past, Linda is very shy and submissive. It took her about six months in foster care before she felt safe enough to accept gentle pets without cowering. She’s still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place—but she’s making progress every day. One thing Linda does love is other dogs! She lights up when she has a canine friend around and happily follows their lead. She’ll need a home with a playful, confident dog who can help guide her and show her the ropes. Linda is housebroken and thrives in a consistent, calm environment. She’s not yet comfortable walking on a leash and will flatten to the ground when one is put on, so she’ll need a secure, fenced yard where she can safely explore and play. Linda is looking for a patient, compassionate home that will give her the time and understanding she needs to fully come out of her shell. In return, you’ll get to watch a truly special dog continue her journey from surviving to thriving.  If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Linda’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
Meet Holland — the comeback kid with the wiggliest butt in town.     This medium‑energy, medium‑size‑when‑grown pup is equal parts silly, sweet, and determined. Holland started life outdoors and had a rough go of it — malnourished, underweight, bowlegged, battling every worm imaginable, a double ear infection, a flea takeover, and the heartbreak of losing many siblings. But don’t let his past fool you. Holland decided he’s a thriving puppy era kind of guy now.   Today, Holland is all about the good stuff: treats, playtime, and other dogs (seriously, he thinks every dog is his new best friend). He’s crate trained, and while potty training is still a work in progress, he’s trying hard and celebrates every success like he just won a gold medal.   Holland’s vibe is “fun but not chaotic.” He’ll romp, wrestle, and trot, then plop for snuggles like he’s auditioning for a role as your favorite couch potato.   He’s looking for a family who loves a charming, resilient, dog‑loving boy with a big heart and an even bigger future. Holland survived the hard part — now he’s ready for the happy part.   If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Our $295 adoption fee includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Slick is an adult Border Collie whose owner is faced with reducing the number of dogs she has, and so Slick is looking for a forever home.  His owner describes him: "Meet Slick, Slick is an incredible dog with so much love to give. He has a wonderful temperament and gets along beautifully with both dogs and cats. He has an impressive recall, enjoys being with his people, and is the kind of companion who settles into family life with ease. Slick is neutered, fully treated for heartworm, and is now heartworm negative. He has overcome that challenge and is healthy, ready to enjoy the life he deserves. Making the decision to seek a new home for Slick has been one of the hardest choices I've ever had to make. I care about him deeply and never wanted to rehome him. However, as I prepare to move out of my parents' home, I've had to face the reality that I simply have more dogs than I can realistically provide the time, attention, and resources each one deserves. Slick is not being rehomed because of any behavioral issues. He is a wonderful dog who has done absolutely nothing wrong. This decision comes solely from wanting what is best for him. He deserves a family that can give him more one-on-one attention, adventures, and the kind of life that is difficult for me to provide with so many dogs in my care. I am trying everything I can to find him the right placement before it ever comes to that. My hope is that he can find a loving home where he will be cherished as much as he is now, with the opportunity to truly thrive. This is a decision made entirely out of love. More than anything, I want Slick to have the life he deserves." NOTE: Slick will need a patient home that can help with his housetraining issues. Slick's owner can be contacted at a.kelly9842@gmail.com  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 10, 2026, 9:16 am
