Linda is a gentle, one-year-old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix, weighing in at about 37–40 pounds. This sweet girl has a soft, sensitive soul and a story of resilience that makes her all the more special. She was found in an isolated area in heartbreaking condition—malnourished, covered in fleas and ticks, and struggling with painful skin issues. A kind-hearted gentleman discovered her curled up in a ditch at the end of his gravel drive. He took her in, got her the medical care she desperately needed, and showed her love and kindness until she was ready to find a rescue. Thanks to him, Linda got a second chance at life. Because of her past, Linda is very shy and submissive. It took her about six months in foster care before she felt safe enough to accept gentle pets without cowering. She’s still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place—but she’s making progress every day. One thing Linda does love is other dogs! She lights up when she has a canine friend around and happily follows their lead. She’ll need a home with a playful, confident dog who can help guide her and show her the ropes. Linda is housebroken and thrives in a consistent, calm environment. She’s not yet comfortable walking on a leash and will flatten to the ground when one is put on, so she’ll need a secure, fenced yard where she can safely explore and play. Linda is looking for a patient, compassionate home that will give her the time and understanding she needs to fully come out of her shell. A yummy nougat encased in creamy chocolate to “make you feel you” as the famous advertisement states. This wonderful boy is a Aussie border collie mix. He is approximately 3 years old and weighs 60 pounds. Snickers has the kindest eyes that will melt your heart. To be honest he is struggling in the shelter. Although he is safe, knows he has delicious meals served daily and daily walks he would benefit greatly being in a foster or permanent home. Snickers is a fluffy black and white male, with white front legs and black back legs. He is very smart and is craving to be mentally and physically challenged. His breed mix desires to be trained, given commands and lots of mental stimulus. The shelter is a very loud and is over capacity so he is fearful of his current situation. Each day he improves and when he goes outside for his walks he does a cute little trot of a dance to celebrate. Snickers tail is the short stub that wiggles when he is outside smelling everything Mother Nature has to offer. So what does Snickers need?? Nancy is a sweet young dog who is in need of a home where dog behavior is understood and she can receive the training she needs. Her puppy behaviors of jumping and barking can be managed and the sooner she is adopted and out of the shelter, the sooner that positive training can begin, which will allow Nancy to be the friendly youngster that the shelter workers know. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ernie is a 4 year old Border Collie who was found stray when he was approximately 2 1/2 years old and was adopted by the persons who found him. However, Ernie is not comfortable with the young child in the home, and his owners want to find him a forever home where he will not be around young children. If you want more information about Ernie, please e-mail his owner at kaitstanley@gmail.com. Ernie is a larger BC at 55 pounds, and has good house manners, rides nicely in the car, and likes his crate. He is fine with other dogs; it is not known how he would react to cats. As mentioned, small children make him anxious and he displays a variant of herding behavior that includes nipping. This nipping is likely a sign of stress and Ernie would do well with an experienced BC owner who could address this stress and the nipping behavior. Ernie has nipped a friend of the family in what could be considered a bite: skin was not broken, but Ernie needs to learn behaviors that do not involve his use of teeth. He is intelligent, active, and trainable. His owners say this about Ernie: Ernie is a wonderful dog who loves to play with other dogs and snuggle. He is energetic but tires out with exercise, a visit to the dog park, or a walk. He loves routine and appreciates consistent walks every day. He does very well with his commands and doesn't mind spending time in his crate or going on car rides. Ernie does have strong herding/nipping behavior and, unfortunately, it seems that he exhibits more of this with small children.If you can offer Ernie a home without small children, he has the potential to be a wonderful companion.
