Story
Eldridge is a great pyrenees border Collie mix who embodies the best of both worlds! He's a bigger guy, weighing about 15lbs at 9 weeks old, so he will probably be a large dog when fully grown. He is crate trained and sleeps through the night in his kennel. He is doing great with potty training. He loves this colder weather and will go potty in cold weather, rain, or snow! He loves to spend time outdoors hanging out and sniffing around the yard. He's very calm and sweet with the humans in his life. He will beg for cuddles and will take naps in your lap. But, he gets some serious zoomies with the other dogs in the home and loves to wrestle with them. He's also respectful of the cats in the home.   If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Our $295 adoption fee includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org ☁️🐶 Meet Sky — Tiny Pup, Big Wiggles, Endless Joy 🐶☁️ Sky is a 3-month-old baby girl (DOB: 11/5/25) with a whole lot of personality packed into one adorable puppy body. Her mom is a Border Collie/Heeler mix (best guess), so you can expect a smart, active girl who’s destined to be the pawfect medium size — big enough for all your adventures and just the right size to still fit perfectly on the couch when the day is done. Sky is the definition of a classic puppy: full of zoomies, curiosity, and hilarious puppy shenanigans. She brings the butt wiggles, the puppy kisses, and the kind of laugh-out-loud moments that make the occasional chewed shoelace totally worth it. Life is her playground, and everything is new, exciting, and possibly a toy. 🐾 Sky’s Puppy Resume: ☁️ 3 months old and growing fast ☁️ Expected medium size when full grown ☁️ Sweet, playful, and full of wiggles ☁️ With proper socialization, should do great with dogs, kids and even cats ☁️ Smart and eager to learn ☁️ Comes fully equipped with tiny shark teeth and ninja nails (standard puppy package 😄) Sky is looking for a family ready to embrace all the joys of puppyhood — the training, the laughs, the snuggles, and the memories you’ll talk about for years to come. She promises to repay you in loyalty, love, and an endless supply of tail wags. 🌈 If you’re ready for adventure, giggles, and a puppy who will grow right alongside your life — Sky is ready to climb straight into your heart and home. ✨ Apply today at haydudeequine.org and let Sky brighten your world! 🐾💙

Story
I’m off to college, but I’ll be graduating on November 14 and ready for my new home then. I must explain. I was chosen to be a part of the DARR Center Department of Ag Companion Animal Program this semester at MSU in Springfield, MO. You see, I really have gone to college. And, I’m one lucky dog! The students are working with me and 5 of my friends on basic commands and behaviors. I’ll be all polished up and ready for a new family when I’m finished here. If you’d like to meet me in the meantime, we can set up a virtual appointment – otherwise, I’ll be at my graduation ceremony/adoption event on Friday, November 14 just waiting for my forever family to come along. Get ready to break ground on a lifetime of love with this hardworking (and heart-melting) Border Collie mix puppy! I am full of energy, smarts, and affection—ready to help build a forever home. I am sweet, charming, and oh-so-smart. Watch your heart expand—no hard hat required. Adopt me lay the foundation for a lifetime of love! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2424236##

Story
Meet Remi, an Australian Cattle Dog puppy who is smart, driven, and not for the faint of heart.Remi is a true working breed puppy. She is incredibly intelligent and intense and she needs a very specific, experienced home to thrive. She requires a highly active, structured lifestyle with people who understand Australian Cattle Dogs and are prepared to meet her mental and physical needs every day. Long walks and backyard time alone will not be enough. Remi needs a job, consistent training, problem-solving activities, and purposeful outlets for her energy. A farm, ranch, working environment, or dedicated dog-sport home would be ideal.True to her breed, Remi herds everything, hyper-fixates easily, and does not have an “off switch.” When overstimulated or under-guided, she can become mouthy, pushy, and tune out cues. She will test boundaries and needs clear rules, structure, and confident handling. Breed experience is a must.Remi can be possessive and has little sense of personal boundaries with other dogs, so she will do best with careful management and continued training, or possibly as the only dog. She is not suitable for a home with children. She is still very much a puppy and learning. Remi is not fully potty trained yet and may whine in her crate as she continues crate training. In the right home—someone who understands the breed, enjoys training, and is committed to channeling her instincts—Remi has the potential to be an incredible working partner. In the wrong environment, she would quickly become overwhelmed and unhappy.Remi is not a city dog.She needs more than walks or free time in the backyard—she needs purpose, structure, and stimulation. If you are an experienced adopter looking for a driven, high energy puppy who needs leadership and a job to do, Remi may be your perfect match.Remi is 9 months old and weighs 24 pounds. The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours.
