Story
?? Meet Gromit! ??This big, gentle boy is a 6 ½-year-old, 83.1-pound Border Collie/Shepherd mix with a heart as soft as his fur. Gromit might have started off as a bit of a nervous nelly, but he’s really come out of his shell and shown us what a sweet, loving companion he can be!He’s a total lovebug who adores pets and attention. While toys aren’t really his thing, Gromit is all about the treats—especially when he gets to show off his skills! He knows how to sit, shake, and even stand on his hind legs like a big ol’ bear (it`s as cute as it sounds).Gromit may take a moment to warm up to new people, but once he does, he’ll lean right into you for affection. If you`re looking for a calm, cuddly, treat-motivated gentleman to add joy to your days, Gromit is your guy. ??We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via FB Messenger or email us at jcasreception@co.johnson.in.us for an application. You can also find one on our website at http://johnsoncountyanimalshelter.com/adopt/. Once an application is submitted and approved, we can set an appointment to meet the pet!

Story
Zodiac is a highly intelligent and affectionate girl who’s looking for a very special forever home. She adores her people, loves to cuddle, and will happily smother you with kisses. Long walks at the park are her absolute favorite — she thrives when she gets plenty of physical activity and mental stimulation. Zodiac was rescued at one year old and has been working through significant anxiety since. She currently works closely with a dog behaviorist (SSRIS + regular canine psychologist) — ongoing professional support will be required to help her continue progressing. Her future home must be committed to continuing her care plan and providing her with structure, consistency, and plenty of enrichment. This is not a “first dog” or casual adoption situation — Zodiac needs an experienced, patient adopter who understands high-anxiety dogs and can meet her physical and emotional needs. In the right home, she will be the most loving, loyal companion you could ever ask for.

Story
Milo is 5 years old, he is a border collie mix. He needs a home where he can run free. Lots of yard. He was in a home with two other dogs and two children and he did great! He does take time to adjust with other dogs but with guidance he does great! Very loving and well trained! He knows sit down heal, and touch and stay. He doesn't escape, he will stay at home even if gate is open. He does good with my 2 year old however I don’t let them interact a lot

Story
I got Sawyer when she was about 6 weeks old and I’ve had her for 11 years. I first got her when I was in college and I’ve gotten to a point where I am starting a family and we have realized that she is not great around kids. We need to rehome her to a place that doesn’t have kids and has plenty of space for her to run. She loves playing with her frisbee and her ball and will go for hours. She is very smart and knows several commands.

Story
Rita 🤍 If you’re looking for a dog to play with your current pack, Rita is your girl! 50lbs | dog, cat and kid friendly | MUST go to a home with at least one other dog to play with! | estimated 2-3 years old She loves to play with other dogs and is very good at matching play styles of her doggy friends! Rita loves to take her time sniffing around outside. She is fully crate and potty trained. Rita is incredibly smart and loves to train. She is stubborn with wanting to play and use her brain, like most collies are! She is always ready for anything you throw at her. She can’t get enough of being busy! But she will settle well when crated. She definitely needs a home who will enrich her physically and mentally, with walks or playtimes! She is quiet in her crate unless she needs food, water or a potty break. She is her happiest self when playing with her dog friends. Shes very friendly and gentle with cats, and will try to get them to chase her or play with her. She’s met kids nicely at events! Rita is just a happy soul with so much love and energy to give to a family! If you’re interested in fostering or adopting Rita text 3173765818 or apply here: https://form.jotform.com/242085595491162
