Story
Say hello to sweet Maize, a Border Collie Mix born approximately 09/2022. Maize meaning corn in spanish was found near a corn field hense her name. This sweet girl was frieghtened and untrusting, but with some food and patiences she found a way to trust again. As she has been settling into her foster home we believe she will do good with other animals (dogs and cats) but will require a good introduction. We also think she would love to have a human sibling to play with, but due to her fear of loud sounds we think its best if they are over the age of 10 years. She is a sweet and loving girl who just needs some help learning to be a part of a family again. She can be pretty vocal so a non apartment/duplex home would be best for her. She also would love to have a fenced-in yard to run and play in. The suggested adoption donation for Maize is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $300,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases)  during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##1814753##

Story
Bentley is a five year old mix I adopted to be my support dog. He is extremely intuitive and LOVES to have his teeth brushed. He is good with all animals, but due to some trauma involving dogs he sees often, he is now dog selective and would do best as a single dog. He's super snuggly and loves to sleep in beds with people, and likes to go on long sniff walks or play with a tug toy. Bentley needs an experienced owner because he does have issues with: being dog selective, a picky eater (maybe try free feeding?), resource guarding, and barrier aggression. Bentley does NOT have a bite history and other than this sudden change in his feelings about dogs, remains an excellent companion who loves kids and having his snacks broken up into tiny pieces. He needs someone who can make him secure and give him the time and comfort he needs.

Story
Kadie is a sweet aussie mix b.10/2019 looking for an active family, preferably with herding dog experience who understands the needs of the breed. Kadie is a very smart and energetic girl with a strong herding instinct. This sweet pup has come a long way with her current owner but, unfortunately, Kadie had a rough start to her life. She is looking for a forever home that can offer her some basic training/help her learn commands and a patient family that wants to help a smart young dog work through a few rough patches.  Kadie loves to meet new people and is a social butterfly, her favorite people tend to be kids of all ages! Kadie is a very smart dog who requires daily exercise (long walks or backyard play), would benefit from a routine, and would love someone who can continue to build her confidence/trust through training and socialization. She is very food motivated and is already kennel trained. Kadie hasn't been around too many dogs and is a little hit or miss when it comes to making canine friends, she tends to like the smaller chill senior pups. She is not a big fan of them on her walks, but she's had some postive interactions. Because of her limited interactions with other 4 legged friends, her former owner thinks that she might do best as an only dog or in a home with a calm, older, wiser dog to provide comfort and friendship while she learns the ropes. Kadie is ready to go home and settle in with a family that understands her needs and can give her the love she deserves! The suggested adoption donation for Kadie is $350. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Story
Hank (b. 2/2021) an Australian Shepherd mix. Do you have an adult only, active home? Do you work from home or are home often? Would you be willing to work with your pet to train him to be the best doggo we know he can be? Then Hank may be the best fit for you! Hank is a really good boy, just gets a little nervous and doesn't know how to show his feelings in the right way. A fenced-in yard would be preferred since he has a ton of energy. He loves snuggling and standing up and hugging people. He does great with his toys and will let you take them with no problems. Hank is a very affectionate, playful boy who loves to stand on his hind legs for long periods of time for hugs, snuggle with you on your lap, and get pets. He is a VERY active dog, and loves to play tug-o-war and fetch (even though he doesn’t always want to drop the ball). He would do anything for a treat or an ice cube… he loves to catch and cronch ice cubes as fast as he can. However, Hank can get in grumpy moods where he bares his teeth. Sometimes he is fine with you touching his paw, and other times he isn’t. It depends on his mood. Hank is looking for a calm & patient owner who is willing to work with him at his pace. The suggested adoption donation for Hank is $375. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have questions. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs.
