In the Prison Dog Program Meet Damian!! He came in as a stray on 11/16/25, and we think he’s about 3 years old. This is actually his second time here—he was adopted from us in 2023. We aren't sure why his owner hasn’t come in to pick him up, but what we do know is that Damian is ready to start fresh with someone who truly sees his sparkle. Damian is a high-energy, happy-go-lucky guy who just needs someone who can help him channel all that enthusiasm into fun, love, and adventure. He is super sweet, incredibly friendly, and he gives the kind of gentle kisses that melt your heart on contact. He already knows how to sit and shake, and he’s eager to learn more—especially if treats are involved! Meet TWINKIE! She is a 4 ish year old Border Collie who weighs 35 pounds. She is friendly and does well with other dogs. Twinkie, like all Border Collies, is a bundle of energy and will need an active family who will exercise both mind and body daily. She is crate trained, knows some commands and walks well on a leash. Unfortunately, Twinkie was mistreated in her previous home and had to be removed by the Sheriff. She hasn't lost her spirit and is very resilient. She is looking forward to getting a stable family and getting treated well. Adoption fee is $400 All Ashland County Humane Society animals' adoption fees include: ~spay/neuter ~micro-chip ~de-worming ~vaccinations, including rabies ~heartworm prevention If you are interested in adopting this dog, please visit: www.ashlandhumane.org/adoption-application (copy and paste link to address bar) for a printable application. I got Benji when I was in a relationship but now since I’m alone and I work full time he does not get the attention he needs. He’s very active and can start to act out when he doesn’t receive enough attention, mostly chewing things up. He does go to doggy daycare so I know he works well with other dogs. He is 4 years old, fixed, and up to date on all his shots. He’s potty trained and never has any accidents. He’s a very sweet dog and loves to give kisses. I just feel like he deserves a more present home environment.

Meet Chief Keef!! He came in as a stray on 4/11/26, and we think he is about 2 years old. Let’s just get this out of the way—this boy acts like he personally survived the Great Food Shortage of 2026. 🍗 Chief Keef came to us extremely underweight, so right now food is his entire personality. Treats? Life. Meals? Also life. Your sandwich? Definitely his business. He’s still learning that food will keep coming and he doesn’t have to go full survival mode every time snacks appear. We are currently feeding him three times a day with a slow feeder, and his future human will need to keep working on his “the food isn’t going anywhere, my guy” mindset. Because of his enthusiasm (read: absolute chaos) around food, we’re recommending no small kids—mostly because tiny humans tend to wander around holding snacks like little moving buffets. Under all that food obsession is a super sweet, friendly dog who just needs someone to show him that life is safe, meals are guaranteed, and he can finally relax. He’s going to be an amazing dog for someone willing to put in a little patience (and maybe guard their snacks for a bit). Chief Keef is available for adoption, so hurry in to meet him!
