Meet Bowie! Bowie is a 1-year-old Border Collie (we're getting him DNA tested!) weighing about 40 pounds, and he’s the perfect blend of playful, smart, and sweet. Like a true Border Collie, Bowie is incredibly intelligent and loves having something to do—whether that’s solving a puzzle toy, playing fetch, or inventing his own games. One of Bowie’s cutest tricks is entertaining himself with his toys. He’ll toss them up in the air and leap up to catch them all by himself (yes, it’s as adorable as it sounds). We’re pretty sure he’d be a natural at Frisbee, too! Bowie loves going to the dog park and playing with other dogs, and before the cold weather hit he was getting pretty good at fetch. Bowie is also a very intuitive boy who pays close attention to his people. When someone he loved got hurt and upset, Bowie immediately came over to comfort them with kisses and cuddles. He forms strong bonds and gets very excited to see his favorite humans—sometimes greeting them with happy whining and little “love nibbles” because he just can’t contain his joy. He enjoys cuddling, though like many young, active dogs he can get bored if there isn’t enough going on. When he’s tired, though, he’s perfectly happy to sprawl across your lap and soak up the snuggles. Bowie is good with dogs and kids and would thrive in a home that can keep his smart Border Collie brain engaged with play, training, and activity. He previously did well walking on leash and responding to commands in public, and with a little consistency he’ll likely pick those skills right back up. In the Prison Dog Program Meet Damian!! He came in as a stray on 11/16/25, and we think he’s about 3 years old. This is actually his second time here—he was adopted from us in 2023. We aren't sure why his owner hasn’t come in to pick him up, but what we do know is that Damian is ready to start fresh with someone who truly sees his sparkle. Damian is a high-energy, happy-go-lucky guy who just needs someone who can help him channel all that enthusiasm into fun, love, and adventure. He is super sweet, incredibly friendly, and he gives the kind of gentle kisses that melt your heart on contact. He already knows how to sit and shake, and he’s eager to learn more—especially if treats are involved! MBR holds monthly adoption events on the 2nd Saturday of every month at Tractor Supply in Columbia Station, 24100 Royalton Road from 11 am - 2 pm. Questions can be emailed to rescue@mbrohio.com Colt is a striking red Border Collie with brains, bounce, and a whole lot of heart. True to his breed, this boy is extremely intelligent, agile, and always ready for his next job. If you’re looking for a dog who wants to do life with you — Colt is your guy. He is potty trained and crate trained (though he may voice a small opinion about the crate at first). He settles quickly and is very responsive to gentle correction. Colt is also neutering soon, which should help curb some of his outdoor marking habits. He did attempt to mark indoors once, received one correction, and hasn’t tried again — smart boy! Colt does beautifully with other dogs. He reads them well, plays appropriately, and genuinely enjoys canine companionship. In fact, he recently discovered the joy of toys after another dog showed him how fun they can be! He’ll engage with toys, but truthfully, he prefers being close to his human above all else. As expected from a Border Collie, Colt is high energy and thrives when he has a purpose. He is still learning leash manners and working on impulse control (he can get excited and jump up), but he is incredibly attentive and eager to learn. He already knows “sit” and “down,” has excellent distance recall, and picks up on training quickly. With structure and consistency, he will absolutely shine. He has a big-dog bark when someone approaches the door — he takes his “alert system” job seriously! — but the moment they walk in, he turns into all wiggles and friendliness. We’re also working on not bolting out doors in his excitement to greet people. Colt has not yet been introduced to cats or children. This handsome, high-drive boy will thrive in an active home that understands the Border Collie mindset — one that offers exercise, mental stimulation, and partnership. He is deeply loyal, highly trainable, and ready to bond with someone who appreciates a smart, spirited companion. If you’re looking for a brilliant adventure buddy who wants to be your right-hand man, Colt is waiting.
