Meet Fang!! 🐾🦴 Fang came in as a stray on 1/14/26, and we think he’s about 10 months old. Just look at this handsome little guy!! Fang is a bit shy at first and still figuring out the whole leash thing, so you may need to scoop him up and carry him like the precious cargo he is. But here’s the magic part ✨—once you’re in the playroom and you sit down, Fang transforms into a lap-seeking cuddle missile. He will happily run over, jump into your lap, and soak up all the love. He is incredibly sweet, loves to be petted, and is a world-class snuggler. Fang knows how to sit, is very motivated by treats, and always has the happiest smile on his face. He’s gentle, affectionate, and ready to be someone’s best little buddy. You will absolutely fall in love with him! 💕 Fang is available for adoption, so hurry in to meet him! 📍 Fang is located at the Richland County Dog Shelter in Mansfield, OH 📞 Phone: 419-774-5892 It is an application process. You can request one via dogs@richlandcountyoh.gov

Story
In the Prison Dog Program Meet Damian!! He came in as a stray on 11/16/25, and we think he’s about 3 years old. This is actually his second time here—he was adopted from us in 2023. We aren't sure why his owner hasn’t come in to pick him up, but what we do know is that Damian is ready to start fresh with someone who truly sees his sparkle. Damian is a high-energy, happy-go-lucky guy who just needs someone who can help him channel all that enthusiasm into fun, love, and adventure. He is super sweet, incredibly friendly, and he gives the kind of gentle kisses that melt your heart on contact. He already knows how to sit and shake, and he’s eager to learn more—especially if treats are involved! He is available for adoption, so hurry in to meet this lovable boy who’s hoping his next home is his forever one. Story
MBR holds monthly adoption events on the 2nd Saturday of every month at Tractor Supply in Columbia Station, 24100 Royalton Road from 11 am - 2 pm. Questions can be emailed to rescue@mbrohio.com Colt is a striking red Border Collie with brains, bounce, and a whole lot of heart. True to his breed, this boy is extremely intelligent, agile, and always ready for his next job. If you’re looking for a dog who wants to do life with you — Colt is your guy. Colt is around 2 years old and currently weighs 41 pounds. He is potty trained and crate trained (though he may voice a small opinion about the crate at first). He settles quickly and is very responsive to gentle correction. Colt will be neutered soon, which should help curb some of his outdoor marking habits. He did attempt to mark indoors once, received one correction, and hasn’t tried again — smart boy! Colt does beautifully with other dogs. He reads them well, plays appropriately, and genuinely enjoys canine companionship. In fact, he recently discovered the joy of toys after another dog showed him how fun they can be! He’ll engage with toys, but truthfully, he prefers being close to his human above all else. Colt has not yet been introduced to cats or children. As expected from a Border Collie, Colt is high energy and thrives when he has a purpose. He is still learning leash manners and working on impulse control (he can get excited and jump up), but he is incredibly attentive and eager to learn. He already knows “sit” and “down,” has excellent distance recall, and picks up on training quickly. With structure and consistency, he will absolutely shine. He has a big-dog bark when someone approaches the door — he takes his “alert system” job seriously! — but the moment they walk in, he turns into all wiggles and friendliness. We’re also working on not bolting out doors in his excitement to greet people. This handsome, high-drive boy will thrive in an active home that understands the Border Collie mindset — one that offers exercise, mental stimulation, and partnership. He is deeply loyal, highly trainable, and ready to bond with someone who appreciates a smart, spirited companion. If you’re looking for a brilliant adventure buddy who wants to be your right-hand man, Colt is waiting. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, the first thing to do is submit an application for approval. All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the rescue location as it is a privately run boarding, training, & grooming facility. Individual meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters. Age: 2 years Adoption Fee: $400

MBR holds monthly adoption events on the 2nd Saturday of every month at Tractor Supply in Columbia Station, 24100 Royalton Road from 11 am - 2 pm. Questions can be emailed to rescue@mbrohio.com Trey is a one-year-old, 39-pound Border Collie mix with the gentlest heart and a spirit that truly inspires. This handsome boy does well with other dogs and is both potty trained and crate trained. He already knows “sit” and “stay,” and with how food-motivated he is, he’ll happily learn even more! Trey enjoys a calm, cozy lifestyle. He sleeps quite a bit right now — which may simply be part of healing and adjusting after everything he’s been through — but when he’s awake, he’s content just being near his people. Trey came to us in very rough shape and required a double amputation of a leg and his tail. Despite everything, he remains in wonderful spirits. He doesn’t let his differences define him — he’s resilient, loving, and ready for a family who will cherish him just as he is. He absolutely loves to be petted, gives the sweetest kisses, and is happiest simply sharing a room with you. He prefers one-on-one time over toys and seems most comfortable engaging directly with his person. While toys don’t interest him much, he does enjoy a good bone. He can be a little unsure around men at first, but with patience and kindness, he warms up and builds trust beautifully. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will stay close by your side and fill your home with quiet love, Trey may be your perfect match. Lia and Nico are the two best companions anyone could wish for. It would be wonderful if they were adopted together. They are brother and sister 8 years old purchased from a breeder in Eastern PA at 12 weeks. They are sweet, loyal, loving, obedient, incredibly smart and wonderful companions. Nico prefers to be outside but is equally happy indoors. Lia prefers to be where you are, whether indoors or out. Again super smart and respond to Come, Stay, Sit, Paw, Down, Sit on Beds, Find the ball.

Story
Meet Bullet! This adorable thing is a male Cattle Dog/Mountain Cur Mix DOB 9/26/25, who currently weighs 26 pounds. He is all things puppy! Clumsy, nosy, naps alot, no sense of personal space and did we mention adorable?! We are predicting he will be less than 50 pounds when full grown, but we have not seen mom or dad, so there is no guarantee. Meet Bullet Australian Cattle Dogs and possible Mountain Cur mixes, about 5 months old, and packed with smart personalities and energy. These are not couch potato puppies. They are smart, driven, and thrive with structure, training, and consistency. A home that understands active working breeds will be their sweet spot. Both puppies have been around kids and other animals and do great with other dogs. Cats are a maybe. They think chasing is a fun game, so a cat savvy or cat free home would be best. They are very food motivated, eager to learn, and love having a job or task to focus on. They have been in foster care since before Christmas and have done really well. They are crate trained, have very few accidents in the house, and walk nicely on a leash. Their fosters have put in the work and it shows. Bullet and Indra are fully vetted and ready to go. These two have waited long enough and are truly ready for families who will commit to their training, give them outlets for their energy, and make them part of daily life. In return, you get loyal, fun, intelligent dogs who want nothing more than to learn and belong. They are mostly house trained, but are puppies so you have to keep up on it and expect a possible accident Adoption fee is $400 All Ashland County Humane Society animals' adoption fees include ~spay/neuter ~micro-chip ~de-worming ~vaccinations, including rabies ~heartworm prevention If you are interested in adopting this dog, please visit: www.ashlandhumane.org/adoption-application (copy and paste link to address bar) for a printable application. Story
Meet Indra! This adorable thing is a female Cattle Dog/Mountain Cur Mix who is 11 weeks old (DOB 9/26/25) who currently weighs 10.6 pounds. She is all things puppy! Clumsy, nosy, naps alot, no sense of personal space and did we mention adorable?! We are predicting she will be less than 50 pounds when full grown, but we have not seen mom or dad, so there is no guarantee. Indra will be spayed on December 17 and will be available on December 18, 19 or 20. This dog will need consistent training and socialization, as well as A LOT of physical and mental stimulation. She is going to try to herd everything in sight. If you aren't committed to the training, this is not the dog for you. We are not likely to approve this dog to an apartment dweller. Australian Cattle Dogs (ACDs) can be excellent, loyal, and rewarding pets for the right active family that understands their high energy, intelligence, and need for a "job," but they are not ideal for sedentary owners or first-timers, as they require significant physical and mental stimulation, proper training, and early socialization to prevent destructive behaviors or herding/nipping at kids. They bond deeply with their owners, making them devoted companions, but their intense protective nature and herding instincts need an outlet. According to Google, the Mountain Cur's high energy levels mean they need regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. Mountain Cur dogs do best in a home with an active, outdoorsy family who spends their weekends hiking, hunting, or just hanging out in their fenced-in yard They are naturally courageous, intelligent, and loyal, with strong protective instincts that make them excellent watchdogs. They are a high prey drive driven working dog with a loud bark. Getting them as a puppy and training them properly is key. Indra is a cast off from an high volume breeder in Amish country who came in as part of a load of rescues. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with these dogs. They could have been the wrong color, size, fur, whatever. We are lucky enough to work with a vet in the area who cares enough to scoop up these dogs and get them adopted instead of ........?? Adoption fee is $500 All Ashland County Humane Society animals' adoption fees include: ~spay/neuter ~micro-chip ~de-worming ~vaccinations, including rabies ~heartworm prevention If you are interested in adopting this dog, please visit: www.ashlandhumane.org/adoption-application (copy and paste link to address bar) for a printable application.
