Story
Archie was adopted from us as a puppy in April of this year. He was recently returned due to not getting along with the other pets in the home. He seems to be okay with other dogs that are his size or larger. Nervous at first and a little “leary” of stranger (women only) but has been good here if you get down to his level first, and then he’s very sweet. Now, that has been with women only, he is NOT a fan of men and will growl and bark. He was previously owned by a man and was fine with him, but not any new men. He would do best in a female-only household. HE NEEDS A JOB. He needs an outlet for exercise and a fenced in backyard would be ideal. He would benefit from daily enrichment activities and would do really well in an agility class if someone is interested in enrolling him. He would thrive with someone with an active lifestyle. He went to a 2-week board and train and knows basic commands such as sit, down, place, break, and heel. We spoke with the trainer, and he comes with “lifetime refresher classes” So any new adopter can go to this trainer, and they will work with them and Archie, NO CHARGE! Archie has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has tested neg. for heartworm which is included in the $155 adoption fee. If you would like to adopt this dog, you must come into the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 12-4. (Closed Mondays & Wednesdays)

Story
Jude is a 40 lb 1 yr old Border Collie mix.  His energy on a scale of 1-10 is 15.  He can jump 4 ft in the air without issue and scale a 5 foot barrier without flinching. Jude would likely make a great agility dog for someone.  He will NEED a significant amount of exercise daily and anyone that has interest will also need to continue basic obedience with him.  He already knows some commands.  He is a candidate for our prison training program once he heals up from his neuter surgery. Jude is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, wormed, and microchipped. Anyone with interest can stop at the shelter to meet him and complete an application to be considered. Story
Axel the Menace. Axel the Fun. Axel the Silly. These are the names we have for this happy, silly, fun boy! Only 30lbs and barely a foot tall, Axel is a ball of silly, loving, crazy energy. When you are in his company, you can’t help but chuckle at the way he plays and interacts with other pups. Don’t let his small stature fool you. He can keep up with the larger pups, holds his own. Axel is extremely vocal when he plays. He plays like he wants someone’s head on a platter. Yes, loud and with his mouth open, coming at you, full speed. Axel also loves to play with his humans. He loves tug, loves to learn new tricks. Axel is also wonderful at self-entertainment. He will chase balls around. A glow in the dark ball is his favorite. He thinks the glow is the coolest engineering marvel. Sometimes he is content to lay around and chomp on a toy. When he is done playing, he ‘herds’ them and puts them in a pile. What a genius! Some 2-legged kids can’t even be taught or bribed to do so! When Axel is done playing, he is sweet and snuggly. He wants to lay close and be petted while he chills. In the summertime, a pool is a must. Axel LOVES water. He will paddle around in the pool, even though is can only hold 6 inches of water 😊 If you leave the pool out in 40-degree weather, he will still jump in and paddle away. Axel is 6 months old. He is a 30lb Border Weenie (Collie Dachshund) mix. He is looking for a family who is engaging and who looks at his crazy energy and playstyle with affection and humor. A home with a dog of similar energy level and play style is best. He has the potential to annoy and irritate lower energy pups. A home with older kids is a must. Axel has no bite inhibition when he is playing. This is largely due to being removed from his mom and siblings from a young age. Axel is crate and house trained. He walks well in a harness.

Story
Border Collie crouch, anti-gravity boots, athleticism, this girl’s got them all! Bernedette exudes intelligence and the love to train! She is so insanely smart, she learned to recall in 5 seconds and sit in 10 seconds! She would be a dream to train for tricks and agility sport! If she sees people running, she immediately goes into stalking and herding mode. For this reason, she is a better fit for a home with older children. Training aside, Bernedette is a curious girl. She loves to explore when she is in a new environment. Sniffing, checking out who all has been there before her 😊 If a furry friend comes up to try to instigate play while she is in her exploring mode, she will just politely ignore the pup 😊 When there aren’t new tricks to be learned or an agility course to be completed, Bernedette enjoys quiet time with toys. She can get quite playful entertaining herself! When Bern is done for the day, she loves to hang out and chill beside you. She can be feminine, dainty and elegant when she is not in her training mode and oh yes, a bit vocal when she does not like something 😊 Bern takes treats like a dainty princess. Bernedette is about 9 months old, 45lb Border Collie Heller mix. She is looking for a family who is into sports like she is! Together, get and stay fit! A home with older children is best. A fenced yard is preferred. Bern is crate trained. She walks well on a leash. Bern is all around sweet and wonderful. She is a trainer’s dream.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Tuesday is in a foster home. To meet her, text Rachael at 440-773-0270. Hi! I'm Tuesday, and I'm hoping someone will adopt me! If it would help you decide, along with the meet-and-greet, here's what I know about myself: I'm housebroken! I'm crate-trained! I especially don't mind going into my crate if I have a couple of treat-filled toys to occupy myself when I'm told to "go to your crate. Sometimes I get too excited with treat-filled toys so I like it if they're only used when I'm in my crate. I'm a fast learner! I know a few commands: sit, down, shake paw, stop, stay, no-jump and off (sometimes I get too excited to see someone come home!). I'm used to being told to sit before eating from my food dish, and I know how to ring bells or nudge you if I need to go potty. I love toys! Sometimes I enjoy bringing them to you, sometimes I like fetching them, but sometimes I like taking a toy and being by myself for a while. I enjoy watching birds and squirrels! I like chasing the squirrels in a fenced-in yard! I'm athletic, and I love to accompany someone who's walking, jogging, or running. If you're not into that, my favorite activity happens to be running as fast as I can around a fenced-in yard! I love going for car rides! I love snuggling once I get to know someone, and I know what "kisses means and I'm happy to offer those too once I get to know someone! I'm a little skittish around loud traffic, and with the sound of trains and airplanes, but I'm getting more accustomed to these since I've been pretty active outdoors with my foster mom. I'm also a little skittish with having my teeth looked at, my paws touched, getting sponge baths, and having my collar taken off and put on, but I'm also getting more accustomed to these things too. I've also been working with my foster mom on meeting other dogs and other people when we're out on the trails. Although Tuesday can be around other dogs, we think she'd do best in a home without other dogs or cats. She would also do best with children over 10 years old that will respect her boundaries. Contact Rachael to meet her!

Story
I got Charlie almost 5 years ago as a puppy, we tried adopting different dogs to give him companionship but he has always preferred to be a single dog. He also prefers females humans over males. He recently has become aggressive toward my five year old son and my husband when they come near me. He has attachment issues and severe separation anxiety from his person he bonds with. He would be best for a single woman looking for a protector.
