Meet Sokka 🖤
Sokka is the kind of dog who may not hand you his heart on day one — but once he does, he gives you all of it.
This 1-year-old Border Collie mix is incredibly smart, loyal, affectionate, and deeply devoted to the people he trusts. He’s the kind of boy who wants to know where his person is, what they’re doing, and whether he can be involved. Once he feels safe with you, he is wonderfully loving and happiest when he can be close to his people.
But Sokka needs a little understanding in return.
New places, new people, and big changes can be overwhelming for him. He isn’t the dog who will walk into a new home and immediately act like he’s lived there forever. He needs time to decompress, observe, figure things out, and decide that you’re someone he can trust. He needs someone who will let him be a little unsure without giving up on him.
And that patience is where the magic happens.
Because underneath those initial nerves is a goofy, affectionate, incredibly intelligent boy who desperately wants a person of his own. Once Sokka bonds with you, you’ll see a completely different side of him — the devoted companion who wants to be near you, loves his people fiercely, and has so much personality waiting to come out.
Sokka also comes with one very important requirement: a secure, fully fenced yard. He has a history of getting loose, so his new family will need to be especially careful with doors, gates, and transitions while he settles in. He should not be given the opportunity to wander or have unsupervised freedom outside of a secure area until he is thoroughly bonded with his new family.
His ideal home isn’t necessarily the one with the most experience or the perfect setup. It’s the one with patience, consistency, a sense of humor, and the willingness to earn his trust instead of expecting it.
Sokka has already experienced people and situations that haven’t worked out for him. What he needs now is someone who understands that earning the trust of a sensitive dog is a process — and that the bond you build along the way can be something incredibly special.
