Story
Hi, I’m Jackson! Nice to meet you! I’m an 11-year-old Border Collie/Greyhound mix, but I still play like a puppy and have a heart full of loyalty. I weigh about 48 pounds and have the agility and stamina to run, play, and explore. I used to live on a quiet rural property with the best human dad, where we had all the space in the world. After he passed away, life changed. I moved into town with my other human, and while we love each other deeply, the busy streets and close neighbors have been hard on both of us. I have lots of energy and need daily exercise, whether that’s structured walks, running in a safely fenced yard, or other activities that help me burn off both physical and mental energy. When I don’t get enough outlets, my anxiety can increase. I am very afraid of loud noises, and since losing my human dad I’ve developed anxiety, especially at night. Sometimes this makes it hard for me to settle, and I may try to dig in the corner of a room when I’m feeling overwhelmed. With patience, reassurance, and a calm environment, (including anxiety medication!) I do best. On walks, I get overexcited or reactive when I see other dogs, deer, or unexpected things — I bark, pull on the leash and lunge, or try to chase. Because of this, I’m much happier in a quiet, country environment where I don’t need to be on leash as often. In safe, off-leash areas, I relax, decompress, and can share space nicely with other dogs. The good news is my recall is strong, and I reliably come back to my person. I’m very people-focused and love being close to my humans. I get excited to see kids, but because of my strength, energy, and anxiety, I would do best in a home without small children. My human loves me very much, but can no longer give me the space and exercise that help me feel calm and confident. My ideal home is a quiet, rural setting or peaceful countryside property with one or two adults who understand anxiety and want a deeply loyal companion. I’d thrive as the only pet, where I can soak up all the love, constantly be by my person's side and feel secure again. Does this sound like the right match? Please apply! I’ve been at SDRO for a long time and would love to find my second lease on life.

Fast forward thru almost 4 YEARS of misery and puppies, we were saved!!! I was saved with 9 newborn puppies and my sister/daughter/ cousin, etccc Princess and HER 9 PUPPIES TOO! We landed safe and sound at the rescue! We are now gorgeous girls and all pups grown and adopted! Now its time for me!! I am a single gal, and really don't like other dogs in my business. I want to be the Queen of the house :D Adopt me and I will fill YOUR home with my love and devotion. Story
Meet Lucy: Your Future Best Friend Lucy is a beautiful 2-year-old Border Collie who is ready to find a forever family to call her own! She is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and healthy and happy. Lucy weighs 47 pounds. Lucy absolutely adores people. She thrives on affection, praise, and treats, and she’ll happily soak up all the love you’re willing to give. She enjoys riding in the car, going for walks, and lounging on beds or couches right alongside her humans. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants to be near you, Lucy is your girl. She is potty trained and doing very well with kennel training. Lucy knows her basic commands, walks nicely on a leash, and is incredibly smart, true to her Border Collie roots. She learns quickly and is eager to please, making her a joy to train. Lucy generally gets along well with other dogs. She moves quickly (again, herding breed energy!), which can sometimes be a little intimidating to more reserved dogs, but she demonstrates appropriate play behavior and is submissive with her foster family’s dogs. She’s often seen “cobbing” her foster family’s puppy, her BFF, which is as adorable as it sounds. She is still learning about toys and can be unsure of toys that make sudden noises, but she’s adapting quickly and growing more confident every day. As a herding breed, Lucy has a history of chasing livestock. Fast movement excites Lucy. She has shown interest in cats, so a cat-free home or a very slow, structured introduction would be best. She has not shown any herding tendencies towards other items such as strollers or cars. Lucy truly will melt your heart. She is sweet, loyal, and ready to devote herself to a family who will continue to guide her and love her. Currently fostered in Salem, Oregon. Her adoption fee is $400. If you are interested in adopting Lucy and are pre-approved, please contact the adoption team at hunahapps@gmail.com. If you are not already approved, you can fill out an application here: http://herduneededahome.com/adopt-a-dog If you’re ready to add a smart, affectionate, and devoted companion to your life, Lucy is waiting to meet you!

Story
Roman is a very energetic and affectionate dog. I adopted him with my ex-partner from a kill shelter in Arizona in the Fall of 2018. At that time, we were told he was between 2 and 4 years old. I do not believe he is purebred Cattle Dog. He is a bit shorter than average for the breed and weighs around 35 lbs. Roman has high anxiety which is alleviated by adequate exercise. He needs to be walked a minimum of 4 miles per day, every single day, to be at a baseline level of calm and comfort. He loves being outside and is a great hiking dog. He is extremely devoted and affectionate and very people-focused. He does have initial suspicion towards other dogs but is able to bond with other dogs and get along in a safe space. The reason I have made the very difficult decision to re-home him is that my partner and I separated and as a single person it has been very challenging to provide Roman with the attention and exercise that he needs.
