Story
Have you considered trying a rescue puppy on for size? Well, Skechers and Toms are the last two brothers left from our shoe litter! These boys are smart, social and fun-loving. It’s only a matter of time before they find their perfect fit. Initially thought to be Border Collie mixes, Skechers and Toms have definitely filled out at just five months old. We think they must be mixed with a much larger breed, and will likely surpass 50 pounds once fully grown. That said, they still exhibit the athleticism and eagerness to please that Border Collies are known for. They are just a little larger and more huggable than your average doggo! Skechers and Toms are also eager to show off the manners that they’ve learned in foster care. They are potty-trained, leash-trained and friendly towards other dogs. They are even getting the hang of basic commands like “sit,” “come” and “no”! Just like any puppy, these boys will need continued training and plenty of attention in their new homes to become the best dogs they can be. Apply to meet one of these chonkers and you’ll make a perfect pair!
We'll also keep you updated on Toms's adoption status with email updates.

Are you looking for a new main squeeze? Meet Plantain, Orange, Peach, Clementine and Tangerine. Now, you may have noticed a few other fruits on our puppy page…Believe it or not, these kiddos were ALL found together! Though it was apparent these puppies were not all from the same litter, they are all just as sweet. These juicy puppies are sweet, silly and social. This fruity group was rescued as the teeniest, tiniest little bottle babies you could imagine. They have since been hand-raised by our beloved SNIPSA staff and our amazing foster family. Now, they are bouncing around like real dogs! They’re ready to rumble, tumble and grumble all day long before they power down in their coziest little puppy pile. Considering these little ones came to us with no parents and little background, their breed will remain a mystery without a DNA test! Either way, we know these babies will be 100% dedicated to loving you. So, if you’re looking for a fresh addition to your family, these babies are ripe for picking. Apply today!

Story
Bingo is a very special dog that was adopted in January of 2020 by a beloved volunteer and friend of SNIPSA. As Bingo was passed over for adoption again and again, he found a special friend in SNIPSA’s dog walker, Kalvin. Day after day, week after week, Kalvin and Bingo went on afternoon walks. This special bond blossomed into best buds for life when Kalvin officially adopted Bingo. Devastatingly, Kalvin passed away in early November. While our hearts are broken for a friend lost too soon, we are committed to making sure Bingo finds a new family who can offer him just as much love (and as many walks) as dear Kalvin. A happy and energetic pup with a huge love of fetching toys, Bingo is also an epic cuddle bug! While his bond for his “human” is strong, he will do better as an only pet. This lover boy is eager to please and would make a doting, loyal companion. We are so invested in finding Bingo the right home that we enrolled him in doggy boot camp at Lone Star State K9. He has spent the past few weeks brushing up on his manners so he can be the best boy for his new owners. Bingo means the world to us and we hope he can find a fresh start in 2024. Will you be the one to offer Bingo another chance at happiness?

Story
Hey there, Mr. Blue Sky… we’re so pleased to be with you. Look around, see what you do.. everybody smiles at you! Just like the famous song, this upbeat little dude will immediately boost your mood. Mr. Blue Sky is super happy, playful, and vocal. He is great at telling you what’s what, and he wasted no time in detailing his adventures down in Atascosa, Texas after his arrival. A citizen had spotted Mr. Blue Sky roaming the streets, and she just couldn’t say no to his charming personality and piercing blue gaze. We were eager to take him in after learning about his fun temperament, and we cannot wait to see whose lives he will touch! This lovey boy is searching for a dedicated home and would be a great match for someone looking to add a puppy to their family. At just four months old, he is ready to soak up all the training and attention you can offer. Are you ready for a beautiful new day with a bright-eyed bestie? Apply to meet Mr. Blue Sky today!

Story
If you’re looking for the most devoted and committed dog that will forever be at your side - look no further-  Lulu is your gal. This sweet mama and her three pups found themselves with SNIPSA through Animal Care Service’s CASA program - an innovative program helping people and pets in the community before they become an official part of our city shelter. While Lulu was covered in ticks given their prevalence in South Texas, her spirit remained high. It was obvious she was dearly loved at one time. She lives for the ball and is more of a Retriever in a Blue Heeler body. She isn’t pushy or obnoxious. She just gently brings you the ball and patiently waits for you to throw it. The Blue Heeler breed is known for their intelligence, eagerness to please, obedience, and advantageous size.  Lulu loves the water, is learning about the indoors, will walk by your side on voice command, and willingly rolls over for a belly rub. Blue Heelers were originally bred to work cattle and thrive with a job. Thus, they may have a potential to “herd” so please be cognizant of this attribute when considering this breed. Heelers love to ride shotgun or anywhere in the vehicle :), typically do well with other animals, are athletic and sturdy and are often known as a “shadow” dog. They love their people and are unwavering in spirit. If you enjoy the outdoors, throwing the ball, or going for a walk or run, Lulu is a great candidate. Whoever adopts this girl is getting a jewel!! She is just a dream!
