Story
Hi there! I'm called Carlee. The original meaning of this name is "free man". Well in my case it's free woman - woohoo!!! I was abandoned and finally picked up by the PoPo when I was found roaming the streets. A nice police officer assumed a not so happy fate for me, so he decided to take me into his home for safe keeping until I could be turned over to Lucies. That day finally arrived!! I am here and meeting kinds of new friends and learning all kinds of new things. The peeps here are super duper nice and sweet, and they always have treats in their pockets. Can you believe that??!!! Now that I've been here a bit, I've seen a few doggies go and more come! While that saddens me to lose a friend, it also makes me happy to have new ones. What I would really like though is to have a family and home of my very own. Won't you please inquire about me? *** We strive to ensure our dogs are going to a safe, loving and caring home. Story
Hi there!! My name is Oliver - The name Oliver is derived from the old Norse name Áleifr, meaning "ancestor's descendant." The most common nickname for Oliver is Ollie. I LOVE to be called Ollie...well that's what my photographer likes to call me anyway ;) So I used to belong to an awesome member of our wonderful military. He got me as a pup. After awhile like many of our wonderful soldiers, he was deployed and unable to care for me anymore. He found someone to adopt me, but that didn't work out either. I was abandoned and left alone to care for myself. I sure was missing my soldier :( So now I'm here at Lucies and making friends fast! These volunteers are absolutely amazing. Most of the dogs here are as well. Our pack leader KJ, usually keeps most of us in line ;) I'm now ready for a PERMANENT home of my own. After being left twice, I'm afraid no one wants me. I'm a good boy and I love to run and play or just cuddle and snuggle. Won't you please, please inquire about me? I'd love to meet you!!! *** We strive to ensure our dogs are going to a safe, loving and caring home. Phone interviews are required for all adoptions****

Story
Mikka is a 40 lb, spunky Border Collie mix. This girl is really loving life. She is a very sweet girl, but is a bit insecure(aren't we all). Mika would thrive with people that will help her learn and feel secure in the world. She enjoys meeting new people, going on car rides, and LOVES spending time outdoors. She loves her morning walks and has a favorite ball that we play fetch with in the yard. Mikka is super smart and catches on to new things quickly. She knows sit, down, to wait to come out of her crate before you say okay and listens super well when you ask her to crate up. She does okay with other dogs but is definitely on the defensive till she gets comfortable, She'd thrive the most as an only child. She needs an active family that will keep both her mind and body stimulated. She is slowly learning to be a great cuddler. Mikka is a very sweet girl and would be a great companion, she will love you with all her heart. She has a lot of herding instincts and would be great for working/sports/competition. She is also very fast. If you are looking to a buddy that’s always ready to go look no further than Mikka. To adopt Mikka, please apply at www.htxdogrescue.org.
