Story
Want a dog that will be absolutely obsessed with you? Adores humans? Will give you unconditional love and hugs? Meet Mikka! At 3 years old and 40 lbs she's a spunky Border Collie mix. This girl loves life with people! Here are her simple pleasures: - Being with people - Going on car rides - Going on walk - Her favorite ball and fetch Mikka is super smart and catches on to new things quickly, that's the collie in her! She knows: - Sit - Down - Shake - Wait (to eat and to get out of the crate) - Crate up Her flaws (only a few): - Would be best as an only dog - Is a bit on the active side - Gets nervous with kids under 10 Mikka is very dog selective. Her unknown past has taught her she needs to do the getting before they get her. Because she is so well mannered she's not reactive as long as the dogs don't come up to her. This means you can still enjoy calm walks without her barking or lunging. She'd thrive the most as an only child as she LOVES HUMANS! Kids quick unexpected movement can make her nervous but once she gets to know them she's excited to say hello but doesn't understand her size so older dog save kids are okay. Mikka is a very sweet girl that wouldn't hurt a human fly and would be a great companion, she will love you with all her heart. To adopt Mikka, please apply at www.htxdogrescue.org.

Story
Meet Bam Bam, a young, vibrant soul wishing for a home where he can really spread his wings. He was given up because he was not suitable to living in an apartment and needs a house with a fenced yard so he can explore, as his foster saw. His days are filled with periods of rest and bursts of energy, showcasing his curiosity and confident spirit, typical of his breed. He weighs 59 pounds and likes agility, fetch, running, tugging, toys, water, chase and especially long walks where he can lead the way.Bam Bam is smart, knows the sit, stay, come and no commands but is still working on house training so please be patient with him. He is used to sleeping in his bed in the main bedroom. Always curious, Bam Bam loves exploring every nook of the house and yard. But he`s not just about fun and games; his protective nature makes him a great watchdog. Despite his jumpy and noisy demeanor, he is a true cuddler at heart, always ready to snuggle into a lap. He likes chewing on hard rubber Kong toys and chew bones that keep him busy. He`s a social butterfly, thriving in lively environments and making friends fast. He loves playing with other dogs and adjusts very well to the other dog`s playstyle. He shows an easygoing curiosity towards cats. With children, he`s always friendly but a bit jumpy so he`ll need to live with kids at least nine years old.Bam Bam is goofy, affectionate and loyal, and will make a wonderful companion for a patient and active family. Adopt Bam Bam for a lifetime of adventure and affection. Please contact his foster, Ram at CAPdogfoster@gmail.com or 281-202-9076 for more details. Story
UNTIED FROM A TREE TO UNLEASH HER LOVE AND DEVOTION  DOB 4/1/21, weight 54# Hey there, everyone! I’m Isha, a very sweet, outgoing, and eager-to-please black Border Collie/ shepherd mix gal with a white dot on my chest who socializes with everyone – adults, kids, and medium/ large dogs as well as cats and small dogs as long as we’re properly introduced. From my outward appearance, it looks like my canine heritage has been herding sheep, and although I haven’t found any sheep in Houston, I have inherited the shepherdess’ intelligence, intense loyalty, devotion to duty, and untiring work ethic. I humbly believe that those four qualities make me the perfect canine companion! My previous owners kept me in their yard, tied to a tree where my friendly energy was suppressed. I was miserable, but thank heavens, the gardener noticed my plight and convinced my owner to surrender me to HOPE because they could find a family who would provide me a more enriched life. I’m so much happier interacting with all the people, dogs, and cats in my foster home as well as whom I meet on my daily walks! I’m proud to say that leash-training, housetraining, and kennel-training were all a snap. (Remember I told you that I’m very intelligent – just give me a job to do!) Now I’m ready to bring my sweet affection, lithe agility, and intrinsic devotion to bless my forever family. Could that be you? Arrange to meet me today! I’m eager to be your perfect canine chum and to enrich your life as well as mine! HOPE ID D26-0325-0017 Isha’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. To apply online:http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site that Isha will be this weekend, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you June 8, 2026, 10:16 pm

Story
Introducing Tito!  Tito was known as Rocky at Harris County, but without the amazing support from Tito’s Vodka, we may not have been able to pull him. Tito’s played a huge part in helping us reach our goal for our shelter pull, and we felt it was only right to name one of these deserving dogs after them! Tito came into the shelter as an owner surrender, though the reason remains unknown. What we do know is that he is in great shape, absolutely adores people, and deserves a second chance at the life he’s always deserved. Now, he’s safe with us forever. This handsome boy is incredibly sweet, loving, and ready to find his place again. Tito gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves to play, making him the perfect addition to just about any home! We are currently looking for a foster for this special guy. Scout’s Honor covers all medical care and provides supplies — you just provide the love.  If you’re interested in fostering Tito, please visit www.scoutshonor.org and fill out an application!June 8, 2026, 7:21 pm

Story
Zoey is 3 to 4 years old. She is an Australian Shepherd mix. We are fostering her from a family member, they have a newborn and working nights and unfortunately not able to care for Zoey as needed. We would like someone is looking for someone who can give her a better life. She is very affectionate and very sweet. She is highly intelligent and plays well with other dogs. She knows a lot of tricks and commands. She does have some anxiety about being in the crate due to her spending so much time in there and also does not like to be left alone too long outside. We are looking for a family or someone who wants a best friend to go on adventures with! She is very energetic and having a playmate will be a plus!

Story
Caspian is a good, if not shy dog. He is crate-trained. He is very food motivated and has been known to snatch food out of hands; he is quick but never bite the person. He does have a urinary issue that we do not have the funds to take him to the vet to check out. He has been good with our daughters. Our other dog that we have had had longer has not always gotten along with him though. He has a limp that we were told it does not cause him pain.

Story
Meet Graffiti: Your Future Adventure Buddy Graffiti is a stunning ~1-year-old red Australian Shepherd with a heart full of love and energy to match. She came to us as an owner surrender due to a family divorce, and while that transition hasn’t been easy, she’s proven to be incredibly resilient, sweet, and eager to bond again with her people. Raised in a home with children, Graffiti is already familiar with family life. She’s crate-trained, adaptable, and thrives when she has structure, attention, and someone to call her own. 💛 Personality & Temperament Graffiti is everything you’d expect from an Aussie: ✨ High-energy & athletic ✨ Loyal and people-focused ✨ Smart and eager to learn ✨ Vocal (she’s got a bark and isn’t afraid to use it!) She absolutely loves her humans—you can see it in her eyes. More than anything, Graffiti just wants a person… a partner… a best friend. 🐾 🏃‍♀️ Exercise & Training Graffiti is an active dog and does best with consistent daily exercise. Right now: She runs about 1 mile per day She’s been treadmill trained (yes, really!) She walks well on leash and responds well to structure 💡 We’ve been doing: ~6 minutes in the morning ~6 minutes at night That small commitment makes a huge difference in helping her stay balanced and happy. We’re even happy to send her with her treadmill if you’d like to keep up her routine. 🐶 Ideal Home While Graffiti can get along with other animals, we’ve learned through working with her that she really thrives when she’s: 👉 The main dog in the home 👉 The center of attention and connection She would do best with: An active individual or family Someone who enjoys structure, routine, and engagement A home that can match her energy and give her purpose She’s used to being a family dog, and we’d love to see her in that role again. 🌟 Her Potential Graffiti is the kind of dog who could go in so many directions: A fun, active family companion A recreational or adventure dog Even potential for herding or working roles with the right training But right now, our goal is simple: 💙 Find her a true forever home 🎨 From Our Hearts Graffiti is fun-sized, beautiful, and full of personality. She’s one of those dogs who doesn’t just live in your home—she becomes part of your story. We love her so much, and we know the right person is going to see exactly what we see: 👉 A loyal, loving, high-energy best friend who just wants someone to share life with.
