Story
Everyone meet Willow. Willow has the most beautiful chocolate coat. She is currently 4 and a half years old and weighs appx 45lbs. Willow is spayed and completely house trained. Willow is out of all the puppy stages and is just a joy to have around. She gets along with all dogs big and small. Willow pulls a bit on leash but loves walks and is a great car riding companion. This girl can’t get enough belly rubs and is usually found walking around with a toy in her mouth. Willow can be a bit timid on meeting new people but it doesn’t take much to get her to warm up. She could use someone who’s going to be patient with her when meeting new people. Once adopted Willow will travel via Rescue Vet pet transport to a location closest to you. (transport cost is $160.00) If you would like to make this adorable girl part of your family please follow the link below to our application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Patriot is a 3-year-old crate- and house-trained Border Collie/German Shepherd mix. He's quite handsome with his big brown eyes and medium-length black and white coat. He’s a sweet boy, full of love, compassion, and loyalty. He has the biggest heart and is very protective, but he requires an experienced dog owner because he can become anxious at times. Patriot likes to settle into a routine and would thrive in a calm household. He is a very active boy and loves to go for walks, but may require some reassurance along the way. Patriot will be a wonderful companion for the right owner. Story
This is Walker, a Border Collie mix.  He’s around 3 years old and weighs between 45 and 50 pounds.  If you look closely at him, you’ll see his heart in his eyes.  That’s because he is a true lover and an old soul, despite his young age. Walker wears a medium length, white and black coat which suits him well. In addition to his good looks, this boy is also a dog of great temperament; he gets along well with other dogs, kids and his foster’s cat.  Walker would be a fine family dog.  (posted 3/21/24, TN)    **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $395 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . Story
2- 3 year old Louie came to us with a history of being a "bait dog" for dog fighters. That may or may not be true as Louie does seem to have some neurological issues which could have been caused by injury (head bobbing when drinking, and some peripheral vision issues). We have had Louie thoroughly checked out by our veterinarian, and he has assured us that though Louie does seem to have some strange issues, none of them appear to be affecting his current health in any way nor does he expect them to affect him in the future. Louie really doesn't care for the company of other dogs - he would much rather be an "only furchild". He is very well behaved on leash. He can be affectionate with his humans once he gets to know them, but can be a bite risk to those he does not know or trust. Louie needs someone with a LOT of patience and knowledge of dog behaviors to adopt him and show him just how good a dog's life can be, therefore, Louie would do best in a home with an experienced dog owner/trainer, and absolutely no children. Louie is a work in process - and his new family should regard him as a piece of art that when finally complete will dazzle all who meet him. If you would like to offer Louie a forever home, please submit an application which you can find on our website (www.almostheaven-golden-retriever-rescue.org)

Story
https://foha.org/pet/nelson2021/ Nelson here! My new adoptive family will need to be ready to provide a lot of training which my friends at FOHA will help to coordinate at time of adoption. I can be unpredictable so I am looking for a family with no kids 15 and under. Look deep into my different colored eyes - then get me a ball! I LOVE to play fetch! The second I see a ball or hear you say the word, I'm ready to play. I know how to fetch and I'll bring the ball right back to you and drop it at your feet. I also love water and getting sprayed with a hose! I've been lucky to join doggy social here at FOHA and I have enjoyed playing with other dogs. I love going for walks as I get to know the volunteers and they get to know me. As much as I like new dogs I am not comfortable around a lot of new people. So I would not do well in a dog park or doggie daycare. I'll go ahead and say it, I'm extremely smart. I'm looking for an active family that will put my intelligence to good use. I would love to have a huge fenced in backyard to chase my ball until my heart is content. Apartments and condos will not be a good fit for me. If you would like to come meet me, submit an application and we can set up a time to get to know each other. See you soon!! I am looking for a home with no kids, no cats, house with a large backyard, and an experienced owner willing to work on training. Check out all of the dogs available at Friends of Homeless Animals! https://foha.org/pet-adoption/find-a-dog/

Story
https://foha.org/pet/pelican2022/ Hey there, I'm Pelican, and while I may be a dog, my dreams take flight! I'm a spirited and cheerful fellow, always ready for some fun and games. Among all the activities, soccer is my absolute favorite, and I can't resist a thrilling match with my volunteer friends at FOHA. I've had a taste of home life before, where I shared the space with another dog. Things started off well, but I quickly realized that I might be at my best as the only four-legged companion in the house. Don't get me wrong, I do get along with other dogs and would love to have doggie pals to spend time with! But, if you're looking for an only-dog scenario, count me in! I'm a people-loving pup and have the boundless energy that's typical of a border collie mix. Bonus: I'm super soft to the touch, making cuddle time even better. If you're considering bringing me into your life, I have a special request. I'd thrive in a home with a very experienced owner who's up for working with me on a few behavioral challenges. I'm eager to shower you with love and am more than willing to learn and grow. So, what do you say? Will you be the one to come and meet me and embark on this incredible journey together? I'm waiting to spread my wings and soar with you!

Story
Friendly Finn is a lucky dog.  You know one of those who was in a really bad shelter that was run by lazy people who didn’t care if any of the dogs got out alive.  He is a handsome and very friendly Border Collie/Pointer mix that is truly a good looking dog who is about 3 years old, fully vetted, 35 pounds and was at the shelter for 2 years.  TRUTH!   How awful that this beautiful soul was there in that dirty place and in the tiny kennel run with another dog. He wasn’t fed much and he is lucky to have survived the torture of that specific shelter.   Friendly is a good word for Finn since he is good with other dogs and kids unknown.  He is surprisingly very good on a leash, but his nerves can get the best of him when riding in a car.  He might need a little medication till he gets used to riding.  Finn needs a big yard or maybe daily trips to a dog park.  We want him to live a life that is not limited as he has experienced these past 2+ years in the shelter.  If you are interested in Fostering or Adopting Finn please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 4, 2024, 9:54 pm

Story
ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13401My name is Jacob and I am guessed to be a 1 year old Border Collie/Lab mix and currently weigh about 54 pounds. Here are some things my foster family has learned about me:- I am a sweet boy who is initially shy and needs time to adjust to new places and people.- Once I know I can trust you, I am a happy loving boy. I like to sit beside the people I trust and give kisses. I am also a "hugger" and greet foster mom with big hugs when I haven't seen her for a while. She says we are going to work on "four on the floor"- I like getting praise, pets and belly rubs. - I am very curious and enjoy slowly exploring my foster home and yard (Click here, here, here, here and here to see me in foster care!- When I first arrived, I would retreat to the safety of my crate, but now prefer being around my foster family. - I am a smart boy who is eager to please. I know "sit" and "come". I have also learned to open lever handled doors and recognize the sound of my treat bag opening. I am treat motivated and will gently take treats from your hand.- I enjoy the company of other dogs. Although I can get overexcited playing with my furry foster sibling, I listen when told to settle down.- When foster mom is working at her desk, I quietly nap or entertain myself with chew toys. - I have only had one accident in my crate when I first arrived, but since then have been going potty outside. - I am most comfortable off leash in a fenced in yard, but I now like going for walks on a leash. I especially enjoy going for hikes in the woods! As I have gained confidence, I now enjoy walking around the neighborhood. I may sit and watch as groups of strangers go by, but then happily continue on my way. Even so, I would do best in a quiet neighborhood or area.- I have definitely learned the joy of toys. I can entertain myself with chew toys or dissecting squeakers out of plush toys. Outside I like to toss toys in the air and pounce after them. I haven't quite figured out fetch, but foster mom says that's OK.- At night I can either go into my crate with treats or hang out on the sofa and sleep quietly until morning.I am looking for a loving home where I can continue to gain confidence and thrive. I am looking for someone who is patient and understands that I just need time to learn to trust them before showing my happy playful side. If that's you, apply today.

Story
Meet Prince, a charming 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog and Blue Heeler mix! This sweet fellow now tips the scales at a healthy 30 pounds, but is expected to mature to around 40 pounds. He has a beautiful short white and black coat. Prince is a dog who wears his heart on his paw, ready to give his love freely to those who show him kindness! He would do well in a home with other dogs, but cats aren't his best friends. Prince should be adopted because he has so much love to give. His warm personality and playful nature make him the perfect companion for any family or individual looking for a loyal and loving friend!
