Story
Hi my name is Benny.  I feel a little like a fish out of water as I settle in to shelter life.  My owner had a recent change in her living arrangements and I unfortunately was having trouble adjusting.  The staff at the shelter have been very kind and are allowing me to warm up slowly with everyone.  I am being introduced to folks gradually which has helped me feel safe.  I am a smart boy.  My owner taught me many things.  I lived on a farm for a while and loved working along side my owner.  I hope you will give me a chance.  I am a tad over weight so I will need an owner who recognizes my need for exercise and fewer treats.  I am neutered and up to date with my shots.  Woof Benny  May 29, 2023, 5:29 pm

Story
Our pretty girl is called Danvers and she is a highly intelligent and smart Border Collie girl that is looking for someone that understands how her brain works. She is a 3.5 year old female that is a little higher on the weight chart than she should be…..40 pounds now and should be more like 35 pounds.   She is living in an apartment setting and needs a totally new environment.  She totally needs a place with a fenced yard, a relaxed owner who knows how to be her alpha and who is a confident dog owner.  She does great on a leash and she is typically good with other dogs but she needs an owner who is not anxious on new meetings of dogs.  Danvers is picking up on some anxiety and she doesn’t need to, but Border Collies know what is happening all around them.   She is totally trained on all the commands that you want a dog to know.  She is with an owner who has gone through a big life transition and she cannot keep Danvers by herself as a single person in the home.   This girl is so smart and so willing to learn and absorb a good leader in her life.   Could that be you!?    If so please send us an email at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 31, 2023, 1:02 pm

Story
Our handsome young Border Collie mix boy is not a puppy but not yet a mature adult either.  His name is Quincy is only eight months old and weighing in at 40 pounds.  He is so good and wonderful with children and other dogs too.   He is thriving in his foster home after coming from a very neglectful situation as a younger dog. Now he feels the joy of being loved.  He’s affectionate, loyal and very smart with having mastered his housetraining and crate skills.  Quincy is not a needy boy nor is he demanding or pushy.  He certainly does enjoy having his ears stroked.  He is fully vetted and microchipped and neutered and oh so healthy. We think that Quincy would be an extremely fun dog to raise if you are looking for a smart, good energy for hiking, running, speed walks or just hanging out with you on the sofa.  He is going to be an ultimate 45 pound dog when fully grown.  He is not a dog for a no exercise family or person.  He  is not a Basset Hound. If you are interested please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 31, 2023, 1:02 pm

Story
Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. Gypsy definitely has a herding dog breed in her mix. We think Border Collie. Gypsy is around 4 years of age and weighs 70 pounds (she only weighed 35 pounds when we got her). Gypsy is a very good girl and the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She can climb a 6-foot fence, but I caught her on the first try, told her no, and she has not attempted it since. Gypsy is fairly active. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited, and she loves to run and play with her toys. She especially loves squeaky toys. Gypsy loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot. She gets excited about squirrels and cats on the other side of the fence. Gypsy gets along best with male dogs and doesn't like annoying small dogs. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. She can sit and comes when called, She is crate-trained, house-trained, and otherwise very well-behaved in the house. She could perhaps use a bit more obedience training with someone that is firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is very sweet. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She must be in the house as a loved member of the family and would like a large yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy is healthy. She is spayed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. We used the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain this) and she is now negative for heartworms and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy's adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Strasburg VA or Hagerstown MD. She is being fostered in Texas and we cannot afford to send her north until after she is adopted.
