Story
Meet the cutest little frontman around, Muttly Crue, a name inspired by the legendary band Mötley Crüe. But this pup’s style is all about sweetness, snuggles, and heart-melting charm.. Muttly would do wonderfully in a home with kids 6 and older, or with a couple or single adopter who’s ready to help him continue discovering how wonderful the world can be. Muttly is gentle, affectionate, and eager to bond with his forever family. He may not be heavy metal, but he’s packed with love, and he’s a really, really darling little pup who’s ready to rock and roll into a brand-new life with a family all his own. Ready to add a little love (and a little rock ‘n’ roll) to your home? Come meet Muttly Crue!

Story
Rango is a young terrier–Border Collie mix with a gentle soul and a quietly hopeful heart. When he first arrived at the rescue, he was very frightened and shut down, unsure of the world around him. But day by day, Rango is beginning to come out of his shell and learn that people can be kind. He’s still quite timid around humans and prefers to take things slow—but what’s special about Rango is his curiosity. Even when he’s unsure, he’ll bravely come up to sniff, observe, and check things out on his own terms. Trust is blooming, one small step at a time. Where Rango truly shines is with other dogs. He loves playing, running, and taking cues from his canine friends, and we think he would thrive in a home with one or more confident dogs to help show him the ropes. His Border Collie–terrier mix gives him a playful, active side that really comes alive during doggy playtime. Rango is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. He’s looking for a patient, loving home that understands shy dogs and will celebrate the quiet wins—because with time, consistency, and canine companionship, this sweet boy has so much love to give. 💛

Story
Lucy and Lily were rescued from an over-crowded city shelter at only 6 weeks old. They were found dumped at a mall parking lot. They were timid at first but warmed up at their foster home. 💜 Super huge thanks to their HERO Foster Home for rushing out to the shelter to pick them up buying all their food supplies and caring for them. Both are healthy chubby and now playful. Super cuties. They need home puppy care TLC healthy foods and supervision with training/socialization. They need another foster home to care for them take to next vet appt and ready after 8 weeks old for adoption. More info. to come from their foster home on each of the pups. Update 12/10/25 from 2nd foster home: Lily is a bold little athlete (perpetually moving and very brave) and Lucy may take a minute to warm up. She’s not too shy but she’s definitely more quiet and timid. Reel video: https://www.facebook.com/reel/902639448951329 2/21/26 Foster Home update: Lily is doing great! She is shy around new dogs that are bigger than her but as long as they are calm and don’t try to play rough she loves them. She’s doing well in her obedience classes and is making progress in potty training (she’s pee pad trained). She is great with smaller dogs and loves meeting new people. She’s a cuddle bug who just wants to be with you all the time and loves kisses and sitting in your lap. She likes cats (plays with mine) and will try to play with them. She is crate trained loves food puzzles soft beds and meeting new people.YouTube: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1307579794549351April 4, 2026, 1:11 pm

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $650 Meet Oven Mitt: Your Cozy, Loyal Little Sidekick Oven Mitt is a 10–12 month old, 14-pound Terrier/Shih Tzu mix who was rescued from the shelter and is now ready to trade kennel life for a warm home, a comfy couch, and a person (or family) to adore. True to his name, he’s all about warmth and comfort — the kind of dog who naturally settles into your routine and makes everyday life feel a little cozier.   Daily Routine Oven Mitt keeps things simple. He starts his day with a short morning walk, which he genuinely enjoys but doesn’t need to be long or strenuous. After that, he slips right into relax-and-follow-you mode. He’s happy to nap, lounge, and keep you company while you work, do chores, or unwind. He eats on a consistent schedule with meals in the morning and evening, and otherwise is content just being part of whatever is happening around him. At night, he loves nothing more than curling up in bed with his people — he’s absolutely a snuggle-next-to-you kind of dog.   Personality Oven Mitt is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and easy to love. When he first arrived, he took a little time to settle in and learn the routine, but once he did, his gentle and loving personality quickly came through. He is very comfortable and relaxed in the home and has a calm, reassuring presence. He’s a devoted companion who enjoys being close to his people and will happily follow you from room to room just to stay nearby. His affectionate nature and soft, easygoing temperament make him the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart.   Social Life Oven Mitt has a gentle, friendly demeanor with children and does well around them. He is also tolerant of other dogs and can coexist nicely, though he’s not overly playful or dependent on canine companionship. He would do well either as a solo dog soaking up all the attention or sharing a home with another calm, respectful dog.    Energy Level & Exercise If you’re looking for a dog who enjoys a daily walk but doesn’t need constant activity, Oven Mitt fits the bill perfectly. As long as he gets one good walk each day, he leans much more toward the couch-potato side of the spectrum. He has occasional playful moments, but overall he’s happiest relaxing, napping, and spending time with his people.   Home Habits Oven Mitt is generally very well-behaved in the home. He may bark occasionally at normal household noises or activity, but it is not excessive. He is not destructive and does not show any biting tendencies. He’s an easy, low-maintenance companion who prefers comfort and closeness over chaos.   What Makes Him Special What truly sets Oven Mitt apart is his combination of sweetness and simplicity. He’s one of those rare dogs who just fits seamlessly into your life — low drama, deeply loving, and incredibly devoted. He doesn’t ask for much beyond a comfortable place to rest and people to be near, and in return he offers steady companionship and endless affection.   Favorite Thing Oven Mitt’s favorite thing in the world is being close to his people. He’ll quietly follow you from room to room and then immediately settle in for a nap wherever you land — usually as close as physically possible. There’s something very endearing about the way he gently inserts himself into your day, making every moment feel a little warmer just by being there.April 7, 2026, 3:47 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $650 Meet Lumberjack: Built Sturdy, Loves Deeply Lumberjack is a 1-2 year old, 38 pound Border Terrier / Golden Retriever mix who settled into foster life quickly and has proven himself to be an easy, adaptable companion who fits right into the rhythm of a household. Daily Routine Lumberjack is up and ready by 7:00 a.m. and kicks off the morning with breakfast before heading out for his walk — though if you asked him, he'd vote for an earlier start. Two walks a day is ample for him, and he'd likely make an excellent hiking buddy in cooler weather. He likes to be at the front of the pack and pulls a little, though it's more enthusiasm than bad manners. He shows zero interest in chasing birds or squirrels. At night he's happy to sleep on the floor or a dog bed, but his preference is clearly to be in bed with his people — and if he can tunnel under the covers, all the better. Crates are not his thing. No snoring, no drama. Personality Lumberjack is calm, confident, and genuinely sweet. He charmed the DPS volunteers at intake, coming up to every single one and politely asking for pets and love. He's independent (not demanding) but punctuates his day with warm, affectionate check-ins — he wags his tail at every person he meets, loves a good brushing session (even though he doesn't seem to shed much at all), and is happiest simply being part of the household routine. He doesn't need much entertainment; your presence is enough. And then there's the lap hug. If you're sitting and Lumberjack decides it's time for some affection, he may just walk over, drape his front legs around your hips, and lean in close. It's exactly as sweet as it sounds. He also has a gorgeous, soulful howl that emerges when he hears sirens. It's more endearing than disruptive — he's a dog who appreciates his people and isn't shy about saying so. Social Skills Lumberjack is friendly and relaxed with the other resident dog in his foster home — calm curiosity, tail wagging, good manners. He reads canine cues well, backing off when needed. He does have a small soft spot when the other dog gets all the attention — he'll gently insert himself into the middle of things with a quiet 'don't forget about me.' Hard not to find it charming. On leash, he's a work in progress around other dogs — he can be barky when he spots them on walks, and he'll do best with an experienced adopter or a one committed to working with a trainer. He's smart and handler-focused, which gives him a real advantage. With people, Lumberjack is a lover through and through. He announces visitors with a bark or two, but the moment someone steps inside he's perfectly happy to be greeted and petted — no warm-up period needed. Training & Home Life Lumberjack is a quick study who genuinely wants to please, and pairing him with positive reinforcement early on will set him up for real success. He's not a huge fan of being left home alone and will let off some of his soulful howls, so an adopter who is ready to do some alone-time training will be ideal.  He's a quick adjuster in the car — anxious on his first couple trips after going into foster, but quickly figured out the drill and now simply settles in and enjoys the journey. Why Lumberjack? He settled in fast, loves his walks, and asks for very little beyond your company, the occasional good brushing, and ideally a spot in your bed. Steady, sweet, and solid as his name suggests — Chonk by nickname, Lumberjack by name, and an absolute treasure by nature.  Low prey drive, medium energy, and happiest with people — Lumberjack is an easygoing dog in a scruffy, charming package.          April 7, 2026, 3:47 pm
