Petey Pablo is the kind of dog that brings the party with him wherever he goes. He can start out a little high energy because he is so excited to see his people, but once the initial celebration is over he settles right in and becomes a professional couch potato. Most evenings you will find him watching TV from the couch like he pays the cable bill. This funny little guy loves toys, blankets, and empty water bottles which apparently are the greatest invention in the world according to Petey. He enjoys car rides and is a fantastic passenger, just happy to tag along for the adventure. He walks nicely on a leash, plays a solid game of fetch, and has even gone on some pretty advanced hikes where he did great. If there is an outing happening, Petey wants in. Petey is house trained, crate trained, and can also be trusted left out of the crate. He knows how to use a dog door and has excellent house manners. He is extremely food motivated which makes training easier and snacks his favorite love language. He absolutely loves people and has never met a stranger. Because he gets so excited when greeting people, he would do best with children over 10 or in an adult home that can appreciate his enthusiastic personality. When it comes to other dogs and food, Petey prefers to dine like a king at his own table. He can be a bit of a bully around food, so feeding him separately keeps everyone happy and drama free. Stormin’ Norman is the perfect mix of laid back couch potato and weekend adventure buddy. His favorite hobby is relaxing on a soft blanket like the king of the living room, but if you say the words “let’s go,” he’s ready to roll. Norman loves walks and is a total gentleman on the leash. He also enjoys lake days and water fun. He’s not exactly Michael Phelps in the swimming department, so a life vest is a smart choice, but he happily rides along on a kayak like a seasoned little captain. Boat rides and car rides are two of his favorite things and he behaves like a perfect gentleman for both. Toys are a big hit with Norman, especially tennis balls. Toss one and he’ll fetch like a pro. When playtime is over he’s more than happy to go back to his true calling in life, professional couch lounging. Norman knows basic commands like sit and stay. He is a little hard of hearing, so pointing works great and he catches on quickly. He is house trained, crate trained, and can be trusted to free roam the house without redecorating or chewing up your favorite shoes. He also knows how to use a dog door like a champ. Norman loves people and has never met a stranger. He has done well around other animals and has never shown aggression toward them, although bugs seem to be his personal sworn enemies. He has only been around children over five years old. He does have a sensitive tummy when it comes to table scraps. Too much people food will turn him into a little gas machine, but a small piece of cheese is perfectly acceptable in his book. Because she grew up as a rural stray, everyday household life is still new to her—stairs, vacuum cleaners, and busy homes are things she’s only beginning to experience. The lovely thing about Mariah is that she isn’t fearful—she just hasn’t learned about these things yet. She’s an incredibly sweet, gentle, affectionate girl who truly loves people. Petting is still a little new to her, but she’s quickly learning that human attention is pretty wonderful. In foster care she’s already gaining confidence and relaxing more every day. Mariah is great with other dogs, has been around cats, and has been gentle with children thanks to her soft, submissive personality. A calm dog friend could help her continue building confidence.
