Story
Bandit, came to us along with Buddy and Hershey because their owner had stage 4 lung cancer and could no longer care for them. She's super scared and sweet and you just want to help her. The man kept these dogs in crates for seven years. Everything is over stimulation for her. Overall she’s doing very well considering her entire world has been erased and there's so much around new to get used to. She is very very sweet. I believe she’s half bull dog—she has the bull dog snort. She weighs 38 lbs. She lived with other dogs in her life ---both males and females and she lived another male and a cat in her foster home. At first she wasn’t overly friendly with the dogs here but has adjusted after a slow introduction. Bandit is spayed, up to date with vaccinations, and microchipped. She is also housetrained. She is also missing one eye, which causes her no problem. If interested in Bandit contact applications@boxertransfer.org

Story
Meet Ramona! This beautiful girl is a one-eyed wonder and backyard sun goddess. Sweet Ramona has been through it, and she’s come out the other side with grace, charm, and a strong opinion about sunbathing schedules. Her former family brought her to the vet for an injured toe, but when they didn’t want to continue her care they opted for euthanasia instead. Thankfully, the vet knew this gentle, quiet dog deserved a second chance and called us. Since then, Ramona’s had toe amputation and an eye removal (her eye was completely diseased and painful), and she’s now resting comfortably in her foster home’s yard, soaking up sunshine like it’s her full-time job. Ramona is deeply loyal, incredibly sweet, and happiest when following her people from room to room like a fuzzy little assistant. She's not much for cardio but will happily patrol the yard to find the best spots for rolling in the grass and the optimal tanning angle. Ramona is hoping for a forever family that is calm, quiet, and has humans who are home often. She really just loves being around people and keeping them company. She’s lived with cats, is good on the leash, and the perfect copilot in the car. She’s also housebroken, crate trained, trustworthy when left home alone, and ridiculously adorable. Ramona is being treated for Cushing's, which is a common condition in senior dogs caused by the production of excess cortisol (a stress hormone). It’s typically easily managed with daily medication and routine vet care, and Cushing's dogs live happy, comfortable lives when their condition is well-controlled. Ramona would prefer a home without young children but is happy to share it with other dogs as long as she doesn't need to play with them - that would cut into her sunbathing time! Ramona is done with the hard part. Now she’s ready for forever: slow walks, sunshine naps, and someone who talks to her like she’s part of the conversation (because she is). Could you give this sweet girl the soft landing and sunshine she so deserves? Ramona is approximately 11 years old and 20 lbs. Fostered in Bethesda, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Handsome brindle boy seeking fresh start and love! SLIM SHADY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Slim Shady      Best Guess for Breed:   Boston terrier and shepherd mix   Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of July 2025       SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:   40 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs!  We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to come up here!   Special adoption considerations: Slim Shady is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Slim Shady is Looking For:  His forever home! And a name change, in that order. He thinks 'Slim Shady' sounds - well, shady. Once that's out of the way - long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all those amazing adventures, please. And tops on his wish list? Knowing where he belongs, being a well loved member of a household. In exchange he promises all the adoring gazes he's saving up, all the love and loyalty in his heart. What do you say? Is this cutie the one you see by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:  We will update this once he has spent some time in foster care.    Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at    www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   ! Story
** Current location: at a private shelter in South Korea ** Meet Moana👋🏻 She was found wandering the streets of Paju, South Korea in 2022. She ended up at a high-kill shelter but was thankfully rescued just in time. Since then, she’s been living in a private shelter with many other dogs, charming everyone with her affectionate personality. Now, she’s ready to find a forever family of her own! • Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Goofy Moana is truly one of a kind. She quickly won the hearts of volunteers with her gentle, loving nature. She follows people around like a little shadow, happily greeting everyone—even strangers—with tail wags and affection. Moana thrives on human interaction and loves tug-of-war, belly rubs, and being the center of attention. Her energy level is moderate, making her a great balance of playful and calm. • Affinity with - Dogs: Moana is incredibly social—not just with people, but with dogs, too. She’s often the first to welcome new arrivals at the shelter, helping them feel safe and at ease. While she would thrive as the only dog in the home, Moana also does best with calm dog companions. - Cats: Not tested with cats - Adults/Kids: Great with adults / She hasn’t been tested with cats or kids, but based on her gentle demeanor, we believe she’d do well with respectful children. • Walking Manners: Moana has also started practicing her leash skills and is doing great! She may pull a little at times, but overall, she walks well and is eager to please. • Housetrained: As she’s lived in a shelter, Moana will need some house-training in a home setting. • Bathing/Brushing: She’s tolerant of baths and grooming. • Car Sickness: She’s curious and alert during car rides, taking in the world around her. • Separation Anxiety: Zero. • Barks/Howls: Very quiet • Appetite/Food Allergies: Eats well. No food allergies found so far. • Shedding level (1~10): 5 • Likes/Dislikes: She loves affection & treats! • Health: Moana finished her heartworm treatment in Oct 2024 and is in great health. She underwent successful surgery for an inguinal hernia in Mar 2025 and has fully recovered. She has a clean bill of health and is ready for her new adventure! (Her two front bottom teeth are missing)
