Story
May was found abandoned at a rock quarry. We were told she was left with two puppies, but we only found her with one. After a month boarding at a vet and nowhere else to go, May found a potential foster home, and her puppy girl went to another rescue. Unfortunately, May did not get along with the potential foster’s dog. We believe May is dog selective since she has been playing with another dog her age at the vet where she has been boarding. May cannot stay at the vet much longer, and will go to boarding somewhere else where it’s not ideal for dogs to be long term. We really need to get this sweet girl into a home asap before she becomes forgotten.

Story
Smiling Sammy! Meet this [age] old, [weight] Black Mouth Cur / Boxer mix with a sweet, people-oriented nature. She is very tuned in to the energy around her and takes her cues from her humans — calm environments bring out her relaxed, gentle side, while playtime brings out her happy zoomies. She would thrive in a low-key home with adults where people enjoy a balanced routine. She doesn’t need heavy exercise, but she does enjoy daily walks and the occasional burst of play to get her wiggles out. Once she’s had that, she’s content to settle and be close to her people. She is very smart and knows many commands plus she's potty trained and crate trained. She’s best suited to someone who understands that dogs like her do well when humans set a calm, confident tone. She is an affectionate, steady companion who wants to belong and be part of everyday life. You can follow Sammy's adventures and fall in love with her on Instagram at @sammy.apr. To meet sweet Sammy, please fill out an adoption application at abandonedpetrescue.org Sammy is vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and ready for adoption at Abandoned Pet Rescue - a no-kill shelter in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Story
Meet Tula Baloola! A joyful almost four-year-old Boxer/American Pitbull Terrier mix currently in Canton, NC, whose lively spirit and sleek black coat with a bright white chest patch make every day feel like a celebration. Tula is a medium sized girl who weighs about 50 pounds and carries herself with the athletic bounce of a dog who loves movement, connection, and fun with her favorite people. Her greeting style is unforgettable, full body tail wags, happy wiggles, and an enthusiastic little 'arrrooooo' that sounds like she simply must tell you how excited she is to see you! Playtime is high on Tula's list of favorite activities, especially a good game of fetch followed by snuggles close to her favorite human. After a day filled with walks, play, and learning opportunities she happily curls up beside her person for cozy rest, sometimes sharing soft snores that sound like the sweetest white noise. Tula is smart, attentive, and eager to learn with positive reinforcement. She already knows sit, down, leave it, focus, and has excellent recall, which makes training sessions fun and rewarding for everyone involved. Her velcro style affection means she loves staying close to her people, whether that means joining a car ride, heading out on an adventure, or relaxing at home. Tula is friendly with strangers, wonderful with children, and enjoys the company of other dogs. She recently spent several days with an experienced dog sitter who cares for multiple dogs and kittens, and she did very well with both. The sitter observed that Tula appears interested in being friends with cats and may simply lack feline social skills rather than having any desire to harm them. With thoughtful introductions and guidance, Tula has shown encouraging signs that she can peacefully coexist with other animals. She would thrive in a caring environment with an active individual or family who enjoys daily adventures. Tula can sometimes become reactive when separated from other dogs by barriers, particularly when dogs pass by a chain link fence. In those moments her excitement and frustration can bubble over, and she has occasionally redirected that energy toward the other resident dog. The interactions have not caused injury, and the other dog has responded with appropriate communication, helping guide those moments. With thoughtful management and continued positive reinforcement, Tula continues learning calmer ways to handle these situations. Despite these occasional moments of frustration around barriers, Tula has demonstrated that she can do very well with other dogs in appropriate settings and enjoys having canine companions around her. With her playful energy, big heart, and talent for enthusiastic conversations, Tula brings laughter, companionship, and warmth wherever she goes. If you are looking for a loyal cuddle partner, workout buddy, and cheerful shadow who loves deeply every single day, Tula may be ready to join your life! Could Tula Baloola be the lively cuddle partner and adventure companion ready to join your family’s next chapter? Story
Rocky.Rocky is a 3-year-old neutered Boxer/American Bulldog mix who has been with me since he was only six weeks old. He is healthy, up to date on veterinary care, and deeply loved.Rocky is a very loyal, affectionate, and obedient dog with the people he knows and trusts. He enjoys playing fetch with his favorite ball, follows me around the house, and has been a cherished member of my family for his entire life.Unfortunately, Rocky struggles with fear-based reactivity. He can become reactive toward strangers, some dogs, and especially cats. Because of his size and strength, managing these behaviors has become increasingly difficult for me.I want to be completely honest about his behavioral challenges because my goal is to find the best possible outcome for him. Despite these issues, Rocky is not a dangerous dog living in constant aggression. He is a dog who needs an experienced handler, structure, management, and an environment.
