Story
Stark is an 8 year old boxer/hound mix. He is great with kids and does well with other dogs and cats. He’s a sweet dog who loves to snuggle and spend time with people. We are no longer able to give him the exercise and attention he needs and would love to see him go to a home where he would thrive. He is also crate-trained.

Story
Well, hi there! My names Spartacus! I am an older guy but like all good things, I only get better with age! I like to think I have perfected the art of balancing fun with relaxation. These days, you will usually find me soaking up the sunshine in the play yard or curled up on my favorite fluffy bed for a well-earned nap. I still enjoy going out for walks and exploring, but I'm just as happy spending a quiet afternoon lounging by your side. I can be a little reserved when meeting new people, but don't worry, it does not take much to win me over. A few treats, some good ear scratches, and we'll be best friends. (Trust me, treats are the way to my heart.) One of my best features is my expressive little "eyebrows." They give me the funniest, slightly puzzled look that makes everyone smile. I am a smart guy, too! I already know "sit" and "shake," walk nicely on a leash, and would love to keep learning with a family of my own. I have lived with other dogs before, and if you have one at home, I would love to meet them first to make sure we are a good match. I would do best in a home without cats. If you are looking for a loyal companion who is past the puppy stage, enjoys life's simple pleasures, and still has plenty of love to share, I think we'd make a pretty great team. I can't wait to find my forever home!

Story
Hi everyone, Rocky here! I came to Woodford Humane looking for my second chance after my person passed away, and I’ve been working pretty hard on myself while I wait for my next chapter. When I arrived, I weighed about 93 pounds, and these days, I’m rocking a much healthier 63 pounds! I’m past all that puppy chaos, but I’m not quite ready to call myself a lazy senior either. I’m a sweet, laid-back guy who appreciates the good things in life: a nice stroll, some time sniffing around the yard, and, most importantly, a comfy place to settle in with my people. I’ve had some knee trouble in the past, so keeping me at a healthy weight and giving me appropriate exercise will help me stay feeling my best. But don’t let that fool you, I’m doing great, and losing 30 pounds is proof that I’ve been putting in the work! After everything has changed in my life, I’m more than ready for something permanent: a family to love and a couch to call my own. If you have another dog at home, I’d love to meet them first just to make sure we’re a good match! I’ve worked hard, lost the weight, and I’m feeling better than ever! I’m ready for my final and biggest transformation yet: from shelter dog to somebody’s best friend. Think that could be you? Give Woodford Humane Society a call to set up an appointment to meet me, I’ll be waiting!!

Story
Hi there! I am Rivka! I am a happy, athletic, high-energy girl with plenty of enthusiasm for life. Give me some room to run and you’ll get to witness my signature zoomies, but once the fun is over, I am more than happy to curl up on the couch for some well-earned cuddles. I am still polishing up on my manners and would love a family who will keep helping me learn and channel that enthusiasm in the right direction. I’d especially enjoy an active home where I can get plenty of exercise, playtime, and enrichment. When it comes to sharing my home, though, I’m happiest being the one and only! I’m looking for a home without other dogs or cats, and I’m not a good fit for a family with small children. That just means I am searching for a home that fits me! In return, I promise you won’t have to share my love with anyone else! If you’re looking for a personal trainer, adventure buddy, and professional couch cuddler, I might just be your girl! I’d love the chance to meet you! Go ahead and call my friends at Woodford Humane Society to see if we’d be a good fit!

Story
Meet Trish - A Gentle Soul and True Survivor Trish is a 3-year-old, 40-pound sweetheart with a heart full of love and a spirit that's stronger than you can imagine. When we pulled her from a shelter in Kentucky, she was in heartbreaking shape - covered in a severe yeast infection, with almost no hair left on her body and open, bloody sores around her neck. Scared and neglected, Trish was an owner surrender who had clearly suffered from a lack of care and compassion. But despite it all, Trish never gave up. With time, patience, and lots of TLC, Trish has blossomed. Her gorgeous red coat is growing back in, and her gentle, affectionate nature has started to shine. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, doesn't mind cats, and is crate trained. She takes treats gently and loves to be loved on - soaking up every bit of kindness and attention as if she's making up for lost time. Trish is a survivor, and she's ready for a forever home that will shower her with the love, patience, and care she's always deserved. If you're looking for a sweet, resilient companion who will return your love tenfold, Trish might just be the perfect addition to your life. How long does it take to hear back about my application? It can take up to 10 days to receive a response from us. Story
Riot is a gorgeous red-brown beauty with a big heart, a lot of passion, and an even bigger voice! If you meet Riot inside her kennel, she might give you a loud first impression. Shelters are stressful, and Riot uses her big, powerful barks and growls to vent her frustration and express her uncertain feelings about being behind bars. But her kennel reaction isn't the whole story—it's just a cover for a dog who is desperately ready to go home! Step outside the kennel with her, and Riot transforms into a fun-loving, joyful playmate! She is a ball-fetching superstar—toss a ball, and she is on it. She’s still working on the "drop it" phase of fetch, so bringing a second ball for a swap (or bringing your top-notch negotiation skills!) is highly recommended. Riot is deeply treat-motivated, eager to learn, and ready to swap shelter life for a yard of her own. She just needs a dog-savvy adopter who can look past her loud front door and see the fun, play-loving girl underneath.
