Well, hi there! My names Spartacus! I am an older guy but like all good things, I only get better with age! I like to think I have perfected the art of balancing fun with relaxation. These days, you will usually find me soaking up the sunshine in the play yard or curled up on my favorite fluffy bed for a well-earned nap. I still enjoy going out for walks and exploring, but I'm just as happy spending a quiet afternoon lounging by your side. I can be a little reserved when meeting new people, but don't worry, it does not take much to win me over. A few treats, some good ear scratches, and we'll be best friends. (Trust me, treats are the way to my heart.) One of my best features is my expressive little "eyebrows." They give me the funniest, slightly puzzled look that makes everyone smile. I am a smart guy, too! I already know "sit" and "shake," walk nicely on a leash, and would love to keep learning with a family of my own. I have lived with other dogs before, and if you have one at home, I would love to meet them first to make sure we are a good match. I would do best in a home without cats. If you are looking for a loyal companion who is past the puppy stage, enjoys life's simple pleasures, and still has plenty of love to share, I think we'd make a pretty great team. I can't wait to find my forever home!

Story
Hi everyone, Rocky here! I came to Woodford Humane looking for my second chance after my person passed away, and I’ve been working pretty hard on myself while I wait for my next chapter. When I arrived, I weighed about 93 pounds, and these days, I’m rocking a much healthier 63 pounds! I’m past all that puppy chaos, but I’m not quite ready to call myself a lazy senior either. I’m a sweet, laid-back guy who appreciates the good things in life: a nice stroll, some time sniffing around the yard, and, most importantly, a comfy place to settle in with my people. I’ve had some knee trouble in the past, so keeping me at a healthy weight and giving me appropriate exercise will help me stay feeling my best. But don’t let that fool you, I’m doing great, and losing 30 pounds is proof that I’ve been putting in the work! After everything has changed in my life, I’m more than ready for something permanent: a family to love and a couch to call my own. If you have another dog at home, I’d love to meet them first just to make sure we’re a good match! I’ve worked hard, lost the weight, and I’m feeling better than ever! I’m ready for my final and biggest transformation yet: from shelter dog to somebody’s best friend. Think that could be you? Give Woodford Humane Society a call to set up an appointment to meet me, I’ll be waiting!!

Hi there! I am Rivka! I am a happy, athletic, high-energy girl with plenty of enthusiasm for life. Give me some room to run and you’ll get to witness my signature zoomies, but once the fun is over, I am more than happy to curl up on the couch for some well-earned cuddles. I am still polishing up on my manners and would love a family who will keep helping me learn and channel that enthusiasm in the right direction. I’d especially enjoy an active home where I can get plenty of exercise, playtime, and enrichment. When it comes to sharing my home, though, I’m happiest being the one and only! I’m looking for a home without other dogs or cats, and I’m not a good fit for a family with small children. That just means I am searching for a home that fits me! In return, I promise you won’t have to share my love with anyone else! If you’re looking for a personal trainer, adventure buddy, and professional couch cuddler, I might just be your girl! I’d love the chance to meet you! Go ahead and call my friends at Woodford Humane Society to see if we’d be a good fit!

Cooper's Story Name: Cooper Breed/Mix: Boxer Mix Gender: Male (Neutered) Age: 5 Years Old Weight: Approximately 43 lbs Disposition: Loving, resilient, and highly adaptable. If youre looking for an energetic, loyal, and incredibly affectionate companion who is ready to fill your home with joyful barks and wet nose nudges, meet Cooper! This handsome 5-year-old Boxer Mix has the magnificent presence of a true guardian and the big heart of a best friend. Cooper is built for snuggling, playtime, and adventureall from the comfortable confines of your couch. While hes still getting to know his new routine after arriving as a stray, his potential shines through every time! He is a dog who thrives on connection and loves being part of the family action. He has the wonderful Boxer blend combination: strong, smart, playful, and deeply devoted. Cooper has been thoroughly cared for since his intake! He is fully neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. We want to be completely transparent: Cooper arrived at the shelter with some medical challenges (including an infection that required a tail removal). But Cooper is a resilient boy! He has overcome this challenge and is now healthy, stable, and ready to start writing his own happy chapter. As Cooper came into the shelter as a stray intake, we do not have detailed behavioral notes or history yet. Cooper is ready to trade his temporary kennel life for a forever lap. He would make an absolutely magnificent companion for an active family or a patient individual who understands the love of a resilient boy. We are accepting applications for adoption or foster. Could this strong, sweet boy be yours? Apply today to meet Cooper and help him start living the joyful life he deserves!

🍀 Irish is still waiting for her lucky break...🍀 After spending her first year of life surviving on the streets, Irish finally found what she thought was her forever home. Tragically, her beloved owner passed away, leaving this sweet girl searching for a family all over again. Despite everything she's been through, Irish hasn't lost her joy. She is a happy, affectionate girl who would love nothing more than to make someone smile every single day. 💚 Irish loves other dogs. 💚 She's been around children ages 9 and up. 💚 She's wonderful on walks and is always happy to explore by your side. We aren't sure how she is with cats, but we'd be happy to cat test her for an approved applicant with feline family members. Irish doesn't have a high prey drive and enjoys being around other animals, so we think there's a good chance she'll do just fine. One fun bonus? Thanks to her previous owner, Irish already has a DNA test! She's primarily a mix of Boxer and Husky, giving her the perfect blend of playful energy, intelligence, and lovable goofiness. Irish is just 2 years old and is: 🐾 Spayed 🐾 Up to date on all vaccinations 🐾 Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention As with every HSOC adoption, Irish goes home with a 2-week adoption trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee. We want every adoption to be the perfect fit, for you and for our dogs. Irish has already endured more heartbreak than any dog should. Now all she needs is someone willing to give her the happy ending she's been waiting for. Could that be you? ❤️

These pups are in Versailles, Kentucky too!

Story
Hi, I’m Florence!! I’m 45 pounds of muscle, wiggles, and absolutely no understanding of personal space. Around here, I’ve earned the nickname “Pocket Pittie” because despite being a short, stocky little lady, I am fully convinced I belong in your lap. And if you’d like to carry me around? Well… I certainly won’t stop you. Hope you’ve been working out! People are ‘My Love’, seriously. I love leaning in for hugs, climbing into laps, and occasionally standing up on my back legs just to get a little closer to you. I also provide my own little soundtrack of grunts and snorting noises wherever I go. It’s hard to describe and even harder not to laugh, apparently, I just have a lot to say. In my kennel, you’ll usually find me curled up like a tiny cinnamon roll, until one of my favorite people walks by! Then my whole-body lights up and I can’t resist popping up to say hello, tail wagging and hoping you’ve brought some attention (or let’s be real, a treat). I can get a little enthusiastic about my greetings but ask me to sit and I’ll happily show you that I know how, especially if there’s a snack involved! Outside, I love taking my time sniffing around the yard, breaking out the occasional zoomies, and showing off a good sploot when the mood strikes. I’m very food motivated, already know sit and I’m working hard on other commands and my leash manners. I’m a strong little thing and can still pull when I’m excited, but I’m learning! Give me an extra-tough chew when we’re done and I’ll be one happy girl, just don’t underestimate my ability to destroy anything softer. As much as I adore people, I’ve decided I’d rather be the queen of my castle when it comes to animals. After several introductions, we’ve learned that I come on a little too strong with other dogs, and cats are much too interesting to me, so I’m looking for a home where I can be your one and only pet. Because of my strength and enthusiasm, I’d also be happiest with older kids rather than little ones. Shelter life can make me a little antsy, and my potty habits here haven’t been perfect. My friends think a consistent home routine, patience, and plenty of opportunities to go outside may help me get on the right track, but my future family should be prepared to work with me while I adjust. I may be a little powerhouse, but underneath it all, I’m an incredibly loving girl who wants nothing more than people of my own. Take me on an adventure, stroll around the neighborhood with me, or save me a spot on the couch (preferably directly on your lap). Whatever we’re doing, I just want to do it with you. I’m more than ready for my Dog Days to be Over. If you think I could be your Cosmic Love, call 859.873.5491 to learn more about me or schedule an appointment to come meet me!

Hello everyone, my name is Lottie! I’m a sweet and rambunctious girl ready to find my most perfect forever home. My favorite things are playing (of course!) and exploring everything! I’m curious by nature and that makes life an adventure! I’m smart too! I already know how to ‘sit!’ and can’t wait to learn more. I’m treat motivated so training will be a breeze! If you have another dog at home, I’d love to mee them prior to adoption, just to make sure we can all get along! Could I be the perfect addition to your family? Give my friends at the Adoption Center a call at 859-873-5491 to find out more about me or to schedule an appointment to meet me!

Meet Cosmo!!! A stunning Pit Bull/Border Collie mix with a big heart and an even bigger brain! This handsome guy is sweet as can be and already knows sit, shake, lay down, stand, heel, and leave it. He's eager to keep learning and would love a family that enjoys teaching him new things. When he's not practicing his impressive manners, Cosmo is happiest lounging in the yard with one of his favorite toys, soaking up the sunshine. Just be warned when it's time to head back inside, you'll have to pay the belly roll tax first. A few tummy scratches are required, and Cosmo takes that rule very seriously! Cosmo would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention for himself. In return, he'll be a loyal companion who's always ready for an adventure, a training session, or a relaxing afternoon by your side. If you're looking for a smart, affectionate best friend with plenty of personality, Cosmo might just be your perfect match.
