Hi friends, it's me, Callie, the female Hound/Beagle mix, here to steal your heart and become your new best friend. I'm a bubbly, happy-go-lucky kind of gal who's always wagging my tail and looking on the bright side of life. I'm only 1 1/2 years old so still just a young whippersnapper 40 pound puppy! Let me tell you my story. I was wandering the hills of Tennessee when I was only five months old, taking in the fresh air and exploring the great outdoors, when I was found and taken in by a wonderful rescue organization, Blue Ridge Rescue! I had the good temperament of enjoying being around other dogs, good with cats and even children, so Blue Ridge Rescue signed me up for the Paws Behind Bars Prison Training Program! It was a little scary in there with all those people, lots of loud noises and jangly things so it kinda stressed me out a little! The super folks at Blue Ridge realized it was a little more than my sweet personality could muster so I went off to Dog House Behavioral and Obedience Training LLC where I finished off my training and now, I'm a pro at sitting, staying, coming when called, and even doing my business outside like a true lady. I'm always eager to please, and I just love showing off my good and happy manners. I have learned a lot of obedience and life skills with my trainer friend, Mr. Hall, but I want to tell you about my playful side! I just adore playing tug-of-war with toys, especially when it's with my furry friends, and I love taking a dip in the swimming pool. I don't jump in, I just like wading on the step, like it's the kiddie pool! :) I get along with other dogs, but I'm also happy to be the apple of your eye and have all your love to myself. I'm a love bug at heart, always wanting to be by your side, giving you cuddles and covering you in kisses. I may start off on the shy side, but once I know you're my friend, we are absolute best buds for life! I have been in rescue too long! I would really like a family all my own! I know, Kentucky has so many Hound type dogs we get overlooked all the time, but give me a chance - I will be your best friend for all time! Elphie is a energetic, lazy bones, cuddly, running in the woods sweet tempered dog. Great manners, recall skills and is able to follow basic commands with ease. Her happy place is with her owner, out in fields, around other animals, in the woods playing fetch, or swimming. She is the best mix of energetic and lazy and she will sleep all day if comfy enough but is always up for a walk. She would thrive in a household that can offer consistency, time, love and patience. Doing best with routine, someone who is able to take her to the park everyday is ideal over constant to coming and going from the house. She has Addisons disease which requires a daily pill, and monthly shot to ensure that her body produces cortisol. With proper medication routine she is just like any other happy, loving, sweet dog. Emphasizing the need for someone with the ability to meet her needs, and give her time. You'll find her to be an amazing hiking companion, or cuddle buddy.

If you are looking for a dog who is out of the puppy stage but not yet to lazy senior, Rocky could be the perfect fit for you! While it would benefit him to lose a few pounds (to help his joints as he gets older) we don't suspect he'll want to be running any marathons. Rocky will be quite content to snuggle up on the couch after a good walk or a jaunt around the backyard.
