Story
Hi new friends, my name is Nala. I'm sure you can see that I'm quite skinny. I came to MHS weighing 39-pounds but now I weigh just over 50-pounds! I'm improving every day! The humans told me that I'm the most incredible girl because even being this skinny, all I want is love and attention. If I am able to curl around in your arms, I will hang out there and soak up all the love. I love to play fetch with squeaky toys. I bring them back to you and wait patiently for you to toss them for me. I take treats gently like the good girl that I am. I know how to sit politely and I am a food-motivated gal! I'm sure I'll learn whatever you want to teach me. I always enjoy the ride if I get to go with you in the car somewhere. I'm an adorable shotgun rider. Just imagine me in your front seat looking all adorable! Tennis balls and Kongs are a couple other of my favorite toys. Daily walkies make me happy. I have lived with kiddos about 10ish and up before and I did well with them. I would be happiest if I was the only pooch in the home. I've done well ignoring them when I am out and about on walkie or especially if you have a yummy treat or a tennis ball to occupy my attention, but in my new family, can it please just be me? I have done well in my crate in my previous home and I also did not cause any trouble when I was left by myself. But, don't forget, I'm happiest around people. The humans at MHS tell me how perfect and pretty I am. I hope that helps me get adopted and find my family. I am about six years old and I'm spayed. Love, Nala.

Story
If you are someone who's heart melts when your pet has a little tongue blep, then you need Sasha. She's had quite a few teeth removed and her remaining teeth are worn to the gumline, so that is just how her tongue likes to chill. It's seriously too cute. Sasha is a perfect balance of playful, social, but also a little shy. She is very smart and is really starting to shine in her enrichment sessions! In fact, the more she learns, the more into the session she gets. We have seen her get zoomies and the most playful prances during sessions when she is proud of herself! She is so highly trainable and is one of the most willing-to-work (and learn) pups we have met. She just loves learning. We think her ideal adopter would be someone who likes hiking and/or being active outside. Sasha also loves to explore the environment. She is non-reactive to dogs that she sees on walks and goes on her merry way. Sasha brings a whole new level to being loyal once she finds her person. She prefers a slow intro but warms up quickly with yummy treats! Once she knows you, her wiggles are unmatched. We love that she can be excited with the best zoomies but then hop up on the couch and relax with you. We would love to find an adopter who has a quiet home as Sasha can get overstimulated quickly (can't we all sometimes?!). In her previous home, she did wonderful at being house-trained and was most content to stay in a bedroom while she was hanging by herself. She's a great car rider, too! We're still monitoring her interactions with other dogs. She can be picky and choosy with pups who are in-the-home with her. Sasha is looking for a pup who is more playful, happy-go-lucky with other dogs vs. a dog who can be reactive and less tolerant otherwise she'd be thrilled to be the only pet in the home. We've noticed different layers of Sasha the more she gets to know us and the more we get to know her. She does take a little bit of time and is a very relational girl when it comes to getting to know new people. Teenagers and older in the home would be best! She is a younger gal, a little less than three years old and is about 50-pounds. Come meet this lovebug.

Story
Maia is a medium-sized 2-year-old Boxer mix who weighs 46 pounds. She is an active and affectionate girl who is very motivated to learn new things for treats and toys. Maia would do best in a home without other animals and with older children. She was tested for heartworms and Lyme disease and was negative for both. Maia is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and ready to go home. Maia is considered special needs because she has three legs.

I'm a bit timid at first, but once I get to know you, I promise to be your loyal companion. I'm curious, smart, and have a playful spirit. I might be a little goofy and energetic at times, but I'm also mellow and love a good cuddle. I have a heart murmur, which makes me brave in my own way. I may need some time to warm up to new people, but I assure you, my loyalty and love are worth the wait. Adopting me means gaining a friend who will bring you joy, laughter, and a whole lot of love.    March 3, 2024, 2:48 pm
