Story
Slinky Malinky, a handsome 9-year-old brindle-and-white boy may be a senior on paper, but you'd never know it-he's got energy to spare! Slinky loves to explore and investigate everything around him, turning every walk or outing into an adventure. He's become a well-loved pup at the shelter thanks to his sweet nature, soulful eyes, and adorable habit of getting his droopy lips stuck on his bottom teeth.Since he came in as a stray, we don't know much about Slinky's past, but we've gotten to know just how wonderful he is. He already knows "sit," takes treats gently, and can even catch them in the air! He's easy to collar and walks past other dogs calmly, though he may pull a little at first-he's eager to get outside and do his business. He's shown excellent potty habits while at the shelter, which may translate to minimal potty training efforts when he's adopted.During a day out trip, the volunteer reported that he enjoyed a trip to the local salon for a bath. He jumped easily in and out of the car and spent the ride looking out every window to make sure he didn't miss a thing. During a walk, he can pull a bit on the leash at first because he's eager to get going, but he listens to commands and settles down nicely. With his love of movement and curiosity, he'd make a great jogging or hiking buddy and would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and explore. When interacting in the play yard with a female dog, Slinky initially seemed uncomfortable and fixated on humping her (though he never actually tried to do so). When tried again with a different female some time later, he was bouncy and silly, and had the time of his life running around with her! Slinky would likely pair best with a tolerant friendly female, after some proper introductions of course.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $1050 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Slinky Malinky 261102".He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Primary Color: Brindle- Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 63 Age: 9yrs 5mths 0wks

Story
Zion is a bouncy and playful pup who loves playing fetch and exploring. He enjoys walks with his human and also thrives when he has room to romp and play in a fenced-in yard. With his ADORABLE underbite and a talent for making the funniest faces, Zion will keep you smiling with his charm. Zion is very affectionate and loves belly rubs, head massages and cuddle sessions. Zion is treat-motivated and has already learned commands like "sit" and "stay." He's even got the hang of bringing his Kong to his designated blanket area for some enrichment. While he does get excited when we (his foster parents) come home, we're working on helping him manage that enthusiasm. When out on walks, he remains calm and non-reactive around cyclists, people, and other dogs.In his dog playgroup at the shelter, Zion started out cautiously, but it wasn't long before he was happily bouncing around with his playmates. He is a sweetheart, especially during one-on-one playtime. Zion is a true gem who thrives as part of a pack and would love a forever home where he can explore, play, and make you laugh every day!If you're interested in learning more about Zion, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Zion 264064" Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 41 Age: 1yrs 7mths 2wks
