Bruce Lee is a gentle giant unless you are a tennis ball. Then he turns into a wild child. He will go and go and go! He will eagerly bring you his toy and lay on your lap with it. He is even fairly good on a leash!

Story
We found Toad as a stray in Miami, Florida. He is very sweet and loving to people. He loves to cuddle. He is very well house trained and has no accidents. We need to rehome him because he does not get along with our other male dog. He lives with female dogs fine but must be separated from our other male. He would probably do best to be in a home as the single dog. He lives with cat and children. He is good with our cat although he has never met a different cat. He would be a great companion for someone who has lots of cuddles to give.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.AVAILABLE AT THE PORTAGE CO DOG WARDEN'S SHELTERHi, my name is Otis and I am a friendly happy guy of around 2 years old.  I guess I got lost and ended up at the dog warden's shelter. No one came to claim me, so here I am, looking for a new home. They say I am a boxer mix. Honestly, I can't remember my parents, but you can always have a DNA test done if that matters to you.  If you would like to meet me, please stop at the Portage Co Dog Warden's Shelter where I am waiting for you.Otis Petfinder Listing: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/190694-otis-3bba140d-e864-4919-94d2-62cb15cda852/oh/ravenna/portage-county-dog-warden-shelter-oh184/details/Otis is not a Rose's Rescue dog. **WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Big Mac. I'm about 4 years old and I weigh about 65 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Winona area. I was microchipped, but the chip was not registered and therefore unable to be traced back to my owner. Nobody came looking for me or tried to claim me, so I am now looking for a loving new family to join. I am a very sweet boy. I am very affectionate. I love getting petted and once I am comfortable with you, I love getting snuggles! I have been good with the other dogs and even the office cats here at the pound. I keep my kennel clean at night and appear to have been a house dog before making my way into the pound. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Grace was a stray that we transferred from mahoning county dog warden in Ohio. She would do best as the only dog in the home. She how to sit and is very calm in her kennel. She walks well on a leash. She could potentially live with kitties if introduced properly. She is heart worm positive, but the treatment is paid for, she just needs someone to take her to appointments.

Axel was surrendered to us with his son Petey. Petey has since been adopted. Axel is a big boy, but very friendly. He’s never met a stranger he doesn’t like and is dog friendly. He knows some basic obedience. He is an excited, adventurous boy who would do best in a home with no younger kids. He could live with older kids!
