Story
Meet Bagel. Bagel is a husky/boxer mix (mostly boxer) and is approximately 2 yrs old.  She is spayed and up to date on shots.  Bagel would do best in a calm home with no kids or older kids that listen and respect animals.  She does great with my 3 kids (ages 16, 13, and 9) but does not like when my boys play rough.  When I took her in I was told she hated men but I have been working with her and she absolutely loves my husband now.  I was told her previous owners had an aggressive man in the house and I’m guessing that’s where her dislike for men came from.  However, I feel she is much better now and given a safe environment men are no longer an issue.  She just needs to know she is safe.  She is crate trained.  Bagel is also house trained but does have little accidents when she’s excited so I just try to take her out every 10-15 minutes when she is super excited.  She is an absolute love bug.  She loves to cuddle up under the blankets and gets tucked in every night.  She goes in her crate and I tell her to lay down and then I cover her up and a lot of the times she will lay her head down before the crate is even closed.  Bagel also LOVES toys, and I mean loves!  She will literally get 20-25 toys out with 20 minutes, and no, sadly she does not put them away lol.   Overall she is a very calm girl.   She jumps very minimal and usually only when you are playing and getting her wound up.  She definitely does have the boxer “boxing” trait.  She will absolutely use her paws (I find it super cute).  She has never been in the house with cats but we do have lots of barn cats and she doesn’t mind them unless they are eating her food and then she will bark at them. I have not had her with my dogs as my dogs are not other dogs friendly.  Although I was told that she gets along with other dogs and I think she would be fine with other dog friendly dogs (but not tested to be clear).  She had a lot of fear when I first took her in and she does still need some extra lovins to learn that she is safe and I think she will be the absolute perfect dog. She has a wonderful personality and a very sweet demeanor.   She was dog tested and did great, she'd love a friend to play with and show her the ropes! You can apply at www.ldrofohio.org Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-1.5 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $100.00 {$75 if Senior} of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue.  ADOPTION FEE's: Puppies under 6 months:  $199.00 Adults:  $150.00 Seniors (over 7 yrs):  $99.00  If you are interested in one of our dogs please fill out an application:  https://form.jotform.com/193425528783165

Story
Hey there, I’m Bennie. Yep, that handsome guy with the soulful eyes and the sturdy boxer build. I’m a 4-year-old Boxer mix, about 42 pounds of solid good-boy energy, and I’m neutered, so no funny business here. I came to Happy Bark after landing in a Kentucky shelter as a stray, which means my past is a little mysterious. What I do know is that I’m very ready for my next chapter, and I’m hoping it’s with you. I’ve got that classic boxer charm: a little goofy, a little serious-looking, and 100 percent loyal. I really like other dogs and do great making canine friends. Got a dog already? Awesome, I’d probably love to meet them. Cats though? Yeah… those aren’t my thing, so I’m looking for a cat-free home where I can relax and not worry about those sneaky whiskered creatures. I’m a nice medium size, not too big, not too small, just right for couch cuddles, backyard adventures, and tagging along on daily walks. I’ve passed all my tests here, and the humans say I’m a good, solid dog who just needs a family to call his own. If you’re looking for a loyal buddy with a sweet face, a wagging tail, and a heart that’s ready to belong, I might just be your guy. Come meet me. I’ll be waiting, probably watching the gate, hoping today’s the day I go home. Bennie is located in Erie, PA with an adoption fee of $275. You can learn more about Bennie and other dogs at Happy Bark by visiting www.happybark.org PA Kennel License 17445

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Ohshi. I'm about 7 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs. I was brought into the pound after hours and left in one of the kennels here after our owners were in a dispute. They are currently separated and in legal battles. There is a lot of he said- she said, so the whole truth is really hard to determine. What is known is that me and my friend were left here in kennels after hours and were later identified by one of our owners. Unfortunately, although that person would love to have me back home, they are now displaced and in a place where they cannot currently own animals, so I now have to look for a new family to join. I'm a little timid and standoffish sometimes when I meet new people. I am VERY sweet, friendly and affectionate with all of the staff and volunteers now that I know all of them. I get very protective of my home and family and would do a great job of helping you feel safe. I am housebroken and crate trained and a really good girl inside. I LOVE to play with toys and I am a very funny girl to watch. I like going for walks and just spending time with my people. I do best if I'm walked on a harness as I have a collapsing trachea. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.
