**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Ohshi. I'm about 7 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs. I was brought into the pound after hours and left in one of the kennels here after our owners were in a dispute. They are currently separated and in legal battles. There is a lot of he said- she said, so the whole truth is really hard to determine. What is known is that me and my friend were left here in kennels after hours and were later identified by one of our owners. Unfortunately, although that person would love to have me back home, they are now displaced and in a place where they cannot currently own animals, so I now have to look for a new family to join. I'm a little timid and standoffish sometimes when I meet new people. I am VERY sweet, friendly and affectionate with all of the staff and volunteers now that I know all of them. I get very protective of my home and family and would do a great job of helping you feel safe. I am housebroken and crate trained and a really good girl inside. I LOVE to play with toys and I am a very funny girl to watch. I like going for walks and just spending time with my people. I do best if I'm walked on a harness as I have a collapsing trachea. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Hello! I am new to the shelter! Please keep checking my profile for updates as the staff gets to know me better!Few can resist a puppy. These adorable, soft bundles of energy are similar to four-legged children with tails. And like children, puppies need a lot of time, care, love, and patience. A puppy will depend on you for frequent and regular feedings and walks, for guidance and training, and for much of your time and your love. Before you plunge into puppy parenthood, make sure to research! There are many rewards to caring for a puppy, but there are also many requirements. Puppy classes are highly recommended for socialization and a positive transition into your home. Puppies love to learn how to be the best dog for your family! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict.Your puppy’s adoption fee includes:- Current age-appropriate CORE Vaccines (Rabies/DHPP/Bordetella)- Heartworm Tested- Current on NexGard PLUS Monthly Preventative Chew (Flea/Tick/Heartworm Preventative & Dewormer)- Spaying or Neutering- 24-Petwatch MicrochipAdoption fee: $185.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2026 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $11.30. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$9.30)All dog adoptions come with free leash and collar.

Story
Meet  Matcha aka matcha latte  Age: estimated around 1-2 years old.   Weight: 40 lbs. Breed: boxer mix.  This sweet girl was found abandoned in a car with another dog and was dangerously underweight. Now Matcha is a healthy, medium sized dog and she’s learning what a good life looks like.  Even with her rough start to life she’s still a very happy, loving, carefree pup. Matcha loves playing with other dogs and snuggling on the couch (especially under the blanket). She’s obsessed with all toys but anything with a squeaker is her favorite. Toys don’t last long with her so be prepared to clean up fluff but she will leave your shoes/pillows alone.  We’re learning that Matcha does have some fear based reactivity when meeting new people but once you earn her trust she’s a total love bug so say goodbye to personal space. She tends to be more fearful of men which leads us to believe she may have previously been abused but if you give her some time, treats or a new toy she’ll eventually be your best friend.  Matcha doesn’t love the vet although I can’t say I blame her. Previous appointments have required muzzling, calming meds and mild sedation but it’s possible she could overcome her fears with time. Matcha is crate trained and potty trained but she does think baby gates are her own personal hurdles to jump.   Matcha would probably do best in a home with older children due to some of her puppy tendencies and she would like another dog but one isn’t required. If you feel capable of giving Matcha the time, patience and support needed along with a fraction of the love she’ll give you, please fill out an application to meet this sweet girl so she can finally have a loving family of her own. Matcha is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, and current on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. Matcha's adoption fee is $250. Ready to Make Matcha part of your family? Story
INTAKE DATE: 8/17/24Kira hasn`t had the easiest time of it - she was adopted from AFA in 2021, only to be returned three years later, where she still waits, more than a year past that date. Kira is a 7 year old female Pit Bull Terrier mix who is sweet as can be and has the energy and joy of an adolescent - just with better manners! She honestly didn`t have any problems at her first home EXCEPT she would prefer to be your one and only. Otherwise, she is a dream girl. Housetrained and smart, Kira loves to do doggie puzzles, walk you on a leash and snuggle beside you on her bed. If you are looking for a spicy sweet sidekick on the couch, come and check out Kira.

Story
INTAKE DATE: 3/13/24 TRANSFER FROM MAHONING COUNTY POUNDCURRENT WEIGHT: 62 LBSDon`t be deceived by the plain brown wrapper - Jimmy is just bursting with potential, energy and the joy of just being alive! Jimmy is a 2 1/2 year old male Pit Bull Terrier mix who currently weighs in at about 65 pounds. We would never say that Jimmy is chubby, but....maybe a little fluffy? He is an athletic boy who has the smarts and just needs and experienced dog owner to help him reach his potential. He is very toy and food driven, and would benefit greatly from a home where someone takes those drives and uses them to help Jimmy be all he can be. Obedience classes are going to be a must for this kid - he hasn`t ever had the chance to have someone seriously spend time with him and help him learn how to be the best boy. Jimmy has been at Angels for nearly 18 months - a little more than half of his life. He would do best in an adult only, single animal home.

Josie came to Angels for Animals on July 23, 2024 as an Owner Surrender. She is a 4 year old pitbull mix. She came in with her 10 year old sister, Kali, after their owner has passed away. Josie is a sweet quiet girl. She loves to walk you on leash, play fetch, and snuggle up on her dog bed, sometimes laying her big ole head on your lap.
