**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Big Mac. I'm about 4 years old and I weigh about 65 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Winona area. I was microchipped, but the chip was not registered and therefore unable to be traced back to my owner. Nobody came looking for me or tried to claim me, so I am now looking for a loving new family to join. I am a very sweet boy. I am very affectionate. I love getting petted and once I am comfortable with you, I love getting snuggles! I have been good with the other dogs and even the office cats here at the pound. I keep my kennel clean at night and appear to have been a house dog before making my way into the pound. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Ohshi. I'm about 7 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs. I was brought into the pound after hours and left in one of the kennels here after our owners were in a dispute. They are currently separated and in legal battles. There is a lot of he said- she said, so the whole truth is really hard to determine. What is known is that me and my friend were left here in kennels after hours and were later identified by one of our owners. Unfortunately, although that person would love to have me back home, they are now displaced and in a place where they cannot currently own animals, so I now have to look for a new family to join. I'm a little timid and standoffish sometimes when I meet new people. I am VERY sweet, friendly and affectionate with all of the staff and volunteers now that I know all of them. I get very protective of my home and family and would do a great job of helping you feel safe. I am housebroken and crate trained and a really good girl inside. I LOVE to play with toys and I am a very funny girl to watch. I like going for walks and just spending time with my people. I do best if I'm walked on a harness as I have a collapsing trachea. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Monkey. I'm about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. My brother Goblin and I were found as strays in the Salem area near Wal Mart. We were finally able to be captured by the Humane Agent after a couple of days on the run. To say that we were extremely neglected would be an understatement. We were covered in fleas and ticks. We had missing hair and flea allergy dermatitis. We had apparently been housed in small areas and were caked in feces and urine... Aside from all of that, we have had no real socialization before making our way into the pound. It appears that we haven't been handled at all. Neither of us knew how to walk on a leash and we were didn't know much about receiving attention and affection. We have been getting lots of work with leash training and we're both doing extremely well. We're also learning how to be loved and we're absolutely flourishing. I will need a family that can help continue giving me plenty of socialization and training. I will definitely need work with housebreaking. I have probably never had any type of training at all, especially not housebreaking or crate training, so I will need a patient and understanding family. I absolutely love other dogs! I love to play and a home with other dogs that are well behaved and trained would be great for me. If you're looking for a perfect dog, I'm probably not it, but if you have some patience and a lot of love to give, you might be able to make me the perfect dog for you! Please consider adopting me. Story
This is the sweetest puppy that I have had the pleasure of fostering. He is very loving despite the fact that he was used as a bait dog.He has shown zero aggression. He is good with dogs and cats.He takes time to warm up to people. So any new person you have over he will need a small introduction time before he will allow them to pet him. He is more afraid of males than females. His potty training is going great. He can go the whole night without an accident. As far as crate training I still have to pick him up and put him in. I only put him in the crate when I leave. He is not a fan of the crate but in time he will adjust to it.He will do well in a family setting or with an individual. If you want a guard dog I suggest you look elsewhere. However; if you want a sweet cuddle buddy this is your guy.I selected the dot with experienced adopter because of his past. If someone yells he gets scared easily. He was abused and was a bait dog. I want him to go to a loving home.

Hello! I am new to the shelter! Please keep checking my profile for updates as the staff gets to know me better!Few can resist a puppy. These adorable, soft bundles of energy are similar to four-legged children with tails. And like children, puppies need a lot of time, care, love, and patience. A puppy will depend on you for frequent and regular feedings and walks, for guidance and training, and for much of your time and your love. Before you plunge into puppy parenthood, make sure to research! There are many rewards to caring for a puppy, but there are also many requirements. Puppy classes are highly recommended for socialization and a positive transition into your home. Puppies love to learn how to be the best dog for your family! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict.Your puppy’s adoption fee includes:- Current age-appropriate CORE Vaccines (Rabies/DHPP/Bordetella)- Heartworm Tested- Current on NexGard PLUS Monthly Preventative Chew (Flea/Tick/Heartworm Preventative & Dewormer)- Spaying or Neutering- 24-Petwatch MicrochipAdoption fee: $185.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2026 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $11.30. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$9.30)All dog adoptions come with free leash and collar.

Story
INTAKE DATE: 3/13/24 TRANSFER FROM MAHONING COUNTY POUNDCURRENT WEIGHT: 62 LBSDon`t be deceived by the plain brown wrapper - Jimmy is just bursting with potential, energy and the joy of just being alive! Jimmy is a 2 1/2 year old male Pit Bull Terrier mix who currently weighs in at about 65 pounds. We would never say that Jimmy is chubby, but....maybe a little fluffy? He is an athletic boy who has the smarts and just needs and experienced dog owner to help him reach his potential. He is very toy and food driven, and would benefit greatly from a home where someone takes those drives and uses them to help Jimmy be all he can be. Obedience classes are going to be a must for this kid - he hasn`t ever had the chance to have someone seriously spend time with him and help him learn how to be the best boy. Jimmy has been at Angels for nearly 18 months - a little more than half of his life. He would do best in an adult only, single animal home.

Story
Kira hasn`t had the easiest time of it - she was adopted from AFA in 2021, only to be returned three years later when her family brought home another dog and the two did not get along. Here she sits, still waiting. Kira is a 8 year old female Pit Bull Terrier mix who is sweet as can be with all people, and has the energy and joy of an adolescent - just with better manners! From all we were told, this girl had NO bad habits at her first home - her only fault was a desire to be the one and only Queen of the Castle. Kira will need a canine and feline free home. Believe us when we tell you that her personality is big enough to make you forget about even having any other pets! She is ALL you need! She`s PERFECTION! Don`t be fooled by her age - this girl LOVES to play almost as much as she loves to settle in and cuddle when playtime is over. Equal parts good time girl and couch potato. She`s the whole package! Kira seems to do fine with kids (meet and greet would be required), men, women - all humans. She walks well on a leash (she might pull initially from excitement, but she settles right in), rides well in the car, and has great house manners. We do believe she is house trained as well as crate trained from her previous placements.

Story
Olaf is a handsome 60 pound 7 year old male American Bully mix. This good old boy hasn’t had a smooth time lately, but he takes it in stride, always happy to see everyone, always ready with a smooch or a cuddle. Olaf was adopted several years ago but was returned because his owner had lost his job and was unable to give him the care he needed. He did the right thing since Olaf definitely needed help, and our vet staff was eager to help. When he returned to us, Olaf had developed entropion, a condition where his eyelashes turned inward, skimming the surface of his eye. If you have ever had something in your eye than you know how irritating that can be - imagine 30 + eyelashes at once! It was the first thing our staff corrected, and even though it had to be driving him mad, Olaf had a kind demeanor and a happy grin for everyone through it all. Olaf also suffers from hypothyroidism. This means his thyroid does not produce enough hormone to keep his metabolism going. Thankfully, this is an easy and cheap issue to deal with, and with a daily thyroid supplement, Olaf has kicked hypothyroidism in the butt! Olaf also has some allergy issues. While figuring them all out has been a work in progress, it is work that our vet staff has fully embraced. He is currently on an allergy food, and fingers crossed, it seems to be working! Olaf is a sweet boy, he is housetrained, has plenty of house manners, walks well on a leash, knows how to sit, and just loves to quietly be with you. This boy isn’t a bounce off the walls type - he’s a bit of a couch potato really. Sure, he loves a walk…not a long walk necessarily, but a walk all the same! What he won’t do is drive you crazy - he’s mature, he’s settled, he’s relaxed, he’s sane. He’s perfect for someone who is done with all those puppy and teenage shenanigans and just wants a companion whose first priority is snuggles and relaxation. Olaf is into that for sure. He would do best in a home with humans 15 and older, and would need to meet any resident dogs prior to placement. We are unsure of cats. Olaf is searching for someone willing to take him home, help him finally achieve the dream of a loving family who will stick by his side after the disappointments of his past. His fee is sponsored and waived and we are very open to discussing future help that we can provide to keep him on the track to optimal health. We want Olaf to know love and comfort and HOME. Whatever we need to do to g
