** I am currently being housed at our Oglethorpe location. Come meet me at 71 Oglethorpe St NW, every day from 12pm-7pm. Please arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. to allow ample time to interact with adoptable dogs. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. Gala is a dignified, stoic, gentle dog seeking reassurance and kindness. Everyone here is going out of their way to comfort her. She is so SWEET, but her confidence is hiding at the moment. Gala was a stray dog, so we don't know her back story. While here, she is doing her very best to adapt. We have been fussing over her and we are winning her heart with yummy treats and gentle conversation. And she is now seeking out pettings and affection. Gala has a heart of gold. She would LOVE a home with folks that will help her bloom! And speaking of "blooming" a volunteer who recently took Gala out of the shelter for a morning adventure had this to share: Gala is a sweet miss. While the shelter makes her nervous, the moment you get away from the hubbub, she's a different dog - adventurous (hello car rides!), loves to sniff, finds perfect sticks, and asks for belly scratches. She walks nicely on the leash and was an angel in the car. She could use a home that will show her the world isn't so scary and give her a safe place to come out of her shell. Please visit this lovely ginger pup today and show her the love she deserves. And please check out Gala's video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gC6RYqiW95Y

Story
MEET OWEN!   This gentle and loving boy is a 5 year old, bull terrier/plott hound mix and weighs in at a healthy 84 lbs. Initially adopted 4 years ago, he was sadly returned because the toddler developed an allergy to him.    Owen has allergies too! Like many dogs (or at least like mine!) Owen is allergic to all poultry, and his fur will come out and he will be itchy if he is given any food with chicken, duck, turkey, or their eggs. He is on a great diet of fish and potato and is enjoying a soft and lush coat.   Owen loves children. Despite his size, he was an absolute gentle giant with the baby of the house. He knows all of his commands, and he will pull sometimes when he gets ready for a walkie. This is trainable, of course! He loves to be outside sniffing all the things! Owen lives with and does well with male and female dogs his size and smaller.    Owen is a nice, nice boy who would be as happy laying next to you as he would going out on an adventure. He is great in the car and is very forgiving of his chauffeur's off key singing.   Owen’s adoption donation fee is $350, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for Owen by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.April 23, 2024, 12:09 pm

When you eat your Thanksgiving turkey- will you think of me?? I will be right next to you trying to get it... NOW will you think of me?? LOL, ok, I kid.... I do love turkey though :) I am Wishbone, and I am a bull terrier/beagle mixed boy with a story to tell! I am so smart like a bull terrier- somewhat stubborn, like a bull terrier, but I follow my NOSE like a beagle! I am super cute, only about 40# and I am pretty active. I love to have a hard playing buddy, no small animals (like kitties) as I have a prey drive- like a bull terrier.. you see where I am going with this, right?? I would love have an active family, kids older than grade school as I love a moving target and smaller ones don't quite understand that. I am a love bug, and once tired out I am the bestest cuddler! So, what are you waiting for? Look me up, take me on adventures when you apply to adopt me! ADOPT, DON'T SHOP!!!! MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)

Story
We have a special boy to introduce to the families and couples out there wanting a truly special older pup that is totally trained and waiting to love you to pieces. True Blue Toby is a 10 month old Boxer mix puppy that was found as a stray and not in the best shape.  In fact he looked terrible and we felt so bad for this boy to have suffered for so many months.  Once he came to our care we got to work on clearing up hair loss and getting him healthy from those pesky intestinal worms and putting good weight on him.  Gosh Toby is the best boy with a wonderful personality that embraces everyone with love and the anticipation to become steadfast friends.  Shy at first, this boy has blossomed and is Mr. Outgoing in every way.  He just wants to hang out with his humans and love them with full gratitude for making him such a healthy boy.  Housebroken, crate trained and wonderful with other dogs and cats, he is the truly total package if you are looking for a medium sized dog.  He is going to be a 50 pound adult and what a handsome Boxer mix boy he is turning in to.   Email us at Critter Cavalry Rescue :   ccrnewengland@gmail.com   We know will be glad you considered this boy as your very own. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 23, 2024, 9:08 am

Story
Male, 5 years old, 50lbs Good with: Dogs Not tested with: Kids Not compatible with: Cats House trained: Yes Energy level: Low Noise level: Quiet Hi! I’m Huffy, your laid-back canine companion who thrives on affection. I'm the kind of dog who loves sticking close to my humans, craving cuddles and pets throughout the day. Thunderstorms? No bother for me – I'm a chill pup with not much that ruffles my fur. In terms of training, I've got the basics down pat. While I'm still working on perfecting my 'sit' and maintaining composure when passing other dogs on walks, I'm eager to learn and please. When it comes to activities, I enjoy leisurely strolls, playful romps in the dog park, and even being a couch potato, making me a versatile companion to your lifestyle. With a low energy level, I'm content with laid-back activities, offering you a relaxing and enjoyable presence. My schedule is flexible, with morning and evening walks being a highlight after work. Whether it's a day at daycare or spending time at home with a walker, I adapt easily to different routines. Living conditions? No need for a yard, and I'm a quiet companion – no excessive barking here. In fact, I'm a well-behaved pup, leash trained, crate trained, and comfortable in the car. Lap pet? Absolutely. Obedient, affectionate, and eager to please – that's me. Surprisingly, I don't come with a list of negative traits. I'm an easygoing fellow, making me a delightful addition to any home. When it comes to compatibility, I'm good for seniors/elderly, suitable for apartment living, and an excellent choice for first-time dog owners.  If you're seeking a calm, affectionate, and adaptable companion, I'm Huffy – ready to bring joy and companionship to your life! My foster guardian says: "Huffy is a gem. He is so chill and loves to hang by his humans for as many pets he can get." Likes: Cuddles, being near my person Dislikes : Nothing, really! My ideal home: I can thrive anywhere! Adoption Application : http://bit.ly/adoptrdr Foster Application :  https://rdr.formstack.com/forms/foster_app   My adoption fee includes: Spay/Neuter Surgery (unless I'm too to young!) Story
Female, 14 months old, 37lbs Good with: Dogs Not tested with: Cats, kids House trained: Mostly with an occasional accident Energy level: Moderate Noise level: Quiet Hey there, potential forever family! I'm Giblet, a spirited pup with a heart full of love and a tail that wags at the speed of light. I might still be a work in progress, but I promise my positive traits make up for it! Let me start by telling you about my favorite things. Toys are my absolute jam, especially if it involves a game of fetch. The thrill of chasing after a ball and bringing it back to you? Count me in! Cuddling is another top-tier activity for me—I love snuggling up with my hoomans after a day of play. Dog parks are like my second home; I thrive on the joy of running around with other doggos, making new pals in the process. I'm a sweet and loving girl. I'm a pro at crate training, and you won't find me tearing up the house when left alone. The city noises don't faze me, and I'm always curious to explore my surroundings. Leash skills are a bit of a challenge for me, but I'm making huge progress every day. I've already mastered multiple basic commands, including sit, place, come, and heel. I'm a smart cookie! As for my schedule, I'm a creature of routine. Morning walks, midday strolls, and evening adventures—it's all in a day's play for me. I'm mostly housetrained, but I might have a tiny accident now and then—nobody's perfect, right? Let's talk about my energy level; I'd say it's moderate. I love being active but can also be your cozy couch potato companion. I'm not a barker; in fact, I'm pretty quiet, and I get along well with other dogs. Cats? I'm not sure, and kids are an unknown territory for me. In terms of compatibility, apartments are totally my scene—no need for a yard here. I'm a good passenger in the car, too; road trips, anyone? In a nutshell, I'm a playful, affectionate, and intelligent gal who's ready to fill your life with joy and tail wags. With a bit more training and a whole lot of love, I'll be the perfect addition to your pack. So, what do you say? Ready to embark on this adventure together? I can’t wait to find my forever home where I can share all the love I’ve got to give! My foster guardian says: “ Giblet is a sweet and loving girl who always wants to be near her hoomans.” Likes: Toys (fetch), cuddling, dog parks, playing with other dogs Dislikes : Nothing, really! My ideal home: I’m flexible and will adapt to my owners lifestyle!
