Story
Good with: Dogs, kids Not tested with: Cats House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Some, when someone is at the door Hi, I'm Ripley! I was once a victim of neglect, but now I'm looking for a loving home where I can blossom. I'm a sweet, gentle girl who needs a confident doggy friend and a kind, patient human to help me come out of my shell and show me how wonderful life can be. I may be a little scared and shy at first, but I promise I'm worth the effort to get to know. When I feel safe and confident, I love freely, craving head scratches, playing with stuffed toys, and having zoomies in the backyard. I'm curious about neighborhood cats but don't have a strong prey drive. I'm good at taking cues from other dogs, but I'm still learning human cues like shaking paws. My favorite thing about myself is how gentle and loving I ama total sweetheart! I have a medium energy level, and I'm both gentle and friendly. I can be playful, fearful, and shy. I enjoy short walks and zoomies, but I'm terrified of fireworks and car rides. Despite this, I love going on walks and being with my favorite humans. I'm still working on my training and don't know basic commands yet, but I'm housetrained and somewhat crate trained. On walks, I'm well-mannered, get along with other dogs, and handle distractions like bikes and skateboards pretty well. I bark when someone is at the door, and I need a quiet environment because I get nervous around new people. I need time to come out of my shell, but once I trust someone, I like them very much. I get along with all kids and dogs and am interested in cats, though I haven't had close contact with them. My daily routine includes morning and evening walks, and I have access to a yard, but I prefer staying indoors with the air conditioning when it's hot. I eat Fromm adult food, 1.5 cups in the morning and evening. I don't shed much and don't need grooming. I'd do well in an apartment, would be great for a first-time dog owner, and would love someone who works from home or is home often. I can't wait to find my forever home and share all my love! My foster guardian says: Ripley is gentle and loving - total sweetheart. Likes: Short walks, zoomies Dislikes: Fireworks, riding in the car My ideal home: Id prefer to have an owner who is home often, but Id be good in an apartment and for a first time dog owner. Story
Good with: Dogs Not tested with: Cats, kids House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Some Hey there I'm Gabby the bubbly mixed-breed pup with a hop in my step and a heart of gold! With my soft speckled white and tan fur and soulful yellow/brown eyes I'm quite the charmer. Despite a shoulder injury in my past I've mastered a unique hop-like gait that sets me apart. When it comes to manners I've got them down pat - no accidents in the house and I prefer to savor my meals rather than scarf them down. Now let's talk about my absolute favorite thing: morning walks! There's nothing that gets me more excited than exploring the world outside. Walks dont have to be limited in time or distance as far as my foster mom can tell: I have the same energy and enthusiasm as any other dog. I'm friendly with other dogs but I can be a bit standoffish. I prefer smaller playgroups and may get overwhelmed in crowded dog parks. Despite my injury I'm quite the active pup! I love playing with toys and you might catch me zooming around the yard with one in my mouth. I particularly love prey toys and bully sticks! I also love a good game of fetch and will always bring the toy/ball back to you. I might even surprise you with how high I can jump! I can hop up and ride in the car just fine and love going on adventures. I even recently mastered going up and down a full flight of stairs! When it comes to affection I'm all in! I absolutely adore cuddles and scratches: but I never beg for them just gladly accept them. I'll also keep you company while you work from home while I lounge on the couch. Separation anxiety? Well I might whine a bit when you leave in the crate but with a distraction like a tasty treat I'll be just fine and quiet down quickly. Oh and there's one thing I'm not too fond of: bikes. They make me bark and lunge but cars and trucks? No problem at all! I'm great at "sit" "come" and "wait", but could use some training on walking on a leash. I am overly interested in squirrels and other small animals and my gate makes it harder for me to regulate my speed so as a result I pull a little bit, but with some time and training I can be a leash walking pro! So if you're looking for a well-mannered affectionate companion who's always up for an adventure look no further than yours truly Gabby. I can't wait to hop into your heart and home! My foster guardian says: Gabby is the absolute sweetest pup and is the perfect mix of active outside but calm and affectionate inside. Despite the injury her bunny-like gate makes her the star of the show on walks and at the dog park: people think its absolutely adorable and Id have to agree. If youre looking for a sweet little mix breed look no further than Gabby! Likes: Toys, bones, scratches, sunbathing, morning walks, lounging on the couch Dislikes: Bikes, lots of dogs at once My ideal home: I am pretty flexible and would be happy in a variety of homes! Please contact Perry Meade (perrym@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Sweet, sweet pup looking for love HAZEL NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!         Name: Hazel     Best Guess for Breed: Boxer and St. Bernard mix      Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of March 2024      SEX:  Female   Estimated Weight:  62 pounds    Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen Hazel with cats or kids but she can be tested   Currently Living at: DC area foster home   Hazel is Looking For: My forever home! I was adopted as a puppy but unfortunately my family couldn't keep me so I'm back on the market for a new forever family! I love going to the dog park, so I hope my new family will take me there so I can run and play with other pups. I'd also love to go on lots of walks to get to know my new neighborhood. What do you say? Are you my fresh start?   What My Foster Says About Me: Hazel is just one big bundle of love. She has the softest fur and is pretty gentle for her size. She is the sweetest and happiest girl. She loves her people SO much and wants to spend as much time as possible with us. She loves to play with our 2 resident dogs and is starting to learn their signals for when they’ve had enough and want to rest. She is very gentle on walks and only pulls when she gets excited by seeing a squirrel. She is quite happy to just explore outside. We’ve taken her to the dog park and she absolutely loves it following all the dogs around while simultaneously checking to make sure her humans are still there. She is doing well with her house training and has only had accidents when she is overly excited that we came back home. She sleeps well in the crate when she knows you are there. She is extremely food motivated and has already learned sit/down and she will go in her a crate to get a treat/meals. She is not a big fan of being crated at home alone but we are working on it! Overall she is the sweetest, cuddliest, goofiest, and loving pup and she would be an amazing addition to your life!  Check out how Hazel’s been doing on her Instagram page: @findmyfureverhome_dc   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.    TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online HERE .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Handsome boy seeking fresh start and love! ZOLTAN NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Zoltan          Best Guess for Breed:   Boxer and cattle dog mix Best Guess for Age:   2 years 7 months as of July 2024        SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:  45 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! He LOVES dogs and people. He hasn't been seen specifically with kids or cats but can be tested   Currently Living at:   Texas shelter; needs an adopter in the DC area to get her freedom flight here.    Special adoption considerations:  Zoltan is in a Texas shelter that has very, very limited access to vet services. For that reason, he has not yet been neutered. The shelter aims to alter all their dogs but it might take a while. If Zoltan is adopted before he is altered, his adopter will need to make arrangements to have him altered within a month of his arrival in the DC area.    All about Zoltan:Zoltan is one of over a thousand animals in a shelter so far south in Texas that it's less than 30 miles from the border. He has very little chance of being adopted there - but he is so great that shelter staff want to highlight him in the hope he gets an adopter from out of state. He is a happy, social dog who is great with everyone. In playgroup with other dogs, he's good with them all but seems to have a little bit of a preference for the ladies.  Zoltan is just such a good and happy dog. He is all you imagine a dog could be. He wants nothing more than to be right there by his humans on long sniffy walks, world exploration, and chill sessions on the couch after a fun day together. He will also put a smile on your face if you see him running around joyfully with other dogs when you take him to the park or to doggie daycare. He would also be a fantastic addition to a household with other dogs seeking a playmate - especially if you have a female who likes the gents! Most of all, he wants to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof. Look at that face. Can you see yourself looking down at him staring at you ready to burst forth and start a new day together - trotting alongside you - curled up at your feet after a fun day? Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.    TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and transport from the shelter. Sable is a verrrrrry well trained high energy girl who would love a home that takes her walking/running/hiking and plays fetch and ball with her! She listens wonderfully and does best with laid back dogs that enjoy goofing off with her. She is currently in a home where the owners work multiple jobs leaving little time for her and even less time for good hard fun. Life is boring in a crate. If you are looking for a fun sidekick to join you in lots of activities, please apply! She would be over the moon to live the life she craves! contact irondawgs13@gmail.com for adoption application.

I'm King. I am loving, loyal, and - ok, you made me say it - very handsome. Oh, and did I mention that I am looking for a best friend to adopt me? I like leash walks, especially in calm and quiet spaces where we can spend some quality time together without the crowds. But, I may get distracted by all of the wonderful smells because I really do need to put my nose on everything to explore the wonders of the world. Not only am I curious, I am up for a challenge! I like to run across streams, jump on logs, and hike the trails. I have lots of energy so will be sure to help keep up with your exercise plan. I even like to get in a jog from time to time. And, not to brag, but I am pretty smart. But, for the sake of all those delicious treats, I will pretend that it takes me time to master new tricks and skills. One more thing to tell you. I like to talk when I play. I hope you will come to meet me so we can play together forever, just you and me!

APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application/ We must have an application to move forward. (Shayne's Rescue is an affiliate with PetCentralSATX). If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. SCOOBY is a big boy...at least 66#. His estimated DOB is 1/5/2020...so he is almost 4 yrs old. He is a very FUN dog and loves playing with other dogs but he is exuberant and easily intimidates smaller dogs. He would be a great companion dog for a large breed dog. He loves everyone and just wants to play. He has not had in-house training...in a shelter with lots of dogs, the big ones don't necessarily get the royal treatment. He has been leash-trained and loves to go on walks. After he get rid of the initial excitement about going out, he walks gently on the leash. I do not trust him with a cat. If it runs, he will chase. He sees them as lots of fun. Scooby would be great with a family with older children. Smaller ones would probably get knocked down during playtime. He needs a home with large back yard, I would not recommend him for an apartment. Check out our YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/KD9BUCFmQCs This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. If you have any questions or would like an e-mail from us as to how all of this works, text me (Terry); identify the dog's name and give me your email address... 210-394-6060. You can also go to our Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/Pet-Central-SATX-866684826744181/ and LIKE us to help us out. After we review your application, we will contact you, and you'll have the opportunity to find out more from the rescue. If you experience any issues filling out the application you can contact us directly at petcentralsatx@gmail.com. This is ONLY if you have problems applying. If you have not applied, you will not receive a response so please only email if you have any issues applying. Adoption Fees The adoption fee includes transportation to the NE. All pups and dogs are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, have a negative heart worm test for all dogs over 6 months at time of transport, have a health certificate, and have all age-appropriate vaccinations. Some dogs/pups have additional medical, including but not limited to FHO, ACL, hernias, dental, and other vetting. All medical records will be provided to the adopter at the time they pick up their dog. This is a post on behalf of Pet Central SATX Rescue, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, where there are over 350,000 homeless pets. We have hundreds of puppies/dogs available so there really is no need to apply anywhere else. Also, one application is good even if you are interested in several different dogs...one application no matter which one you choose. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue pup/dog. We firmly believe there is NO breed other than "rescue" for all species. Thank you for being part of the village it takes to save these precious lives.

Taz just turned 5 years old! I acquired him from the Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) in Washington, DC. My schedule and capacity to support his needs has dwindled recently and I believe he deserves a home where he can have more space to play, run around, and be supported by a loving family. Taz is very affectionate, gentle and fully of energy before he gets his daily exercise. He is best suited for someone with a backyard and experience with his breed.

Henry is a stunningly handsome boy with a big heart. He won everyone in the rescue over when he was rescued at the very last minute and then found to have severe pneumonia in both lungs. Henry has since recovered and we are so glad that we got to save him both from shelter euthanasia and also from the significant sickness that he had while he was sheltered. Henry is calm in the home and easy to walk on the leash. He loves to chew on his toys and doesn't chew on other things in the home. Henry is crate trained, housetrained and is not much of a barker. Henry deserves the absolute best forever home! ADOPTION DISCLAIMER: At Perfectly Paired Pitties (P3), we aim to provide accurate information about all of our animals to the best of our abilities. Story
Gloria is a charming 2-year-old petite girl (under 40lbs) who is looking for her forever family. She has completed her two-week decompression period after her stay at the shelter and is now spayed, healthy, and ready to join a loving home. Gloria is a bundle of joy with a gentle disposition, making her great with kids. Despite her small size, she has a lot of energy and can be a bit jumpy at times so adult supervision while interacting with little kids is always best practice (as is with any dog). She enjoys her daily walks and walks well on a loose leash, stopping at intersections on command. Gloria does well on pack walks with dog friends, and loves playing in the pool and exploring the yard. While Gloria adores making doggy friends for walks, she prefers to be the only princess in the house, so she would thrive best as an only dog. She is incredibly lovable and enjoys meeting new people! If you're looking for a playful, affectionate companion who will bring endless joy to your life, Gloria is the perfect match for you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ADOPTION DISCLAIMER: At Perfectly Paired Pitties (P3), we aim to provide accurate information about all of our animals to the best of our abilities.
