House trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Noise level: Barks occasionally My foster guardian says: My favorite thing about Vela is how hard she tries to be a lap dog! Likes: Hikes, riding in the car, snuggling   Hi, Im Vela (rhymes with Shelia)! Im a super happy, playful girl who absolutely loves her people. Seriously, if you look up loyal in the dictionary, Ill be there. Well, okay, not actually. But I could be! I am excellent with people and enjoy human attention. I have demonstrated appropriate behavior in professionally managed dog playgroups and do go to daycare a few days a week, but benefit from clear structure and boundaries around other dogs. A home as an only dog is ideal and supervised dog interactions are best. Dog parks are not a great fit for me. Im crate and potty trained, and good about staying home alone if it isnt a daycare day. I love snacks and toys, and as queen of the house, I believe that I should have as many of both as I want! Im sure my future subjectser, family, will agree. Im a smart cookie, and Ive already learned a bunch of new tricks since coming to D.C. I know sit, stay, off, and leave it. Id like to learn a lot more tricks with my new forever family, so get your treats ready! If youre looking for a spunky cuddlebug who will keep the couch warm while youre at work, and greet you with all the joy in the world when youre back, look no further! For real-a, you need a Vela! Story
Stella is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Stella is one of the most low maintenance fosters I've ever had the pleasure of helping find a forever home. From being a shy, scared, and timid girl to being confident, secure, and well-mannered, Stella has grown so much in the 2+ years I've known her; although the vacuum cleaner is still enemy #1. Stella has lived in all types of settings: in a busy city, in an apartment, on a quiet street, with dogs, with reactive dogs, and easily adapted to her home environment. She is crate trained and LOVES having a bed in her crate to curl up into a donut while you're at work. She knows every basic command like sit, down, touch, stay and is fully potty trained. Stella's favorite toy is a lambie, or something else that is tiny that she can carry around in her mouth. Once, she took care of an egg for 6 hours before it broke, she's the most gentle creature. Stella is made of love and French fries. There's nothing more that she wants than to be inside with her people, cuddled up on the couch with a show, or playing sous chef in a calm kitchen. She takes awhile to warm up to her people, but with some french fires (her favorite is Burger King), some space, and a bit of patience, she'll love you unconditionally and will likely knock you over from wagging her tail and wiggling so hard with excitement every time she sees you. Although Stella is a perfect girl in the home, on leash, and with other dogs, she is scared of human strangers, especially masculine presenting people, and will need a strong advocate to help keep her safe. If you're looking for a great addition to your calm and cozy life with unconditional love to give, Stella is the gal for you. Stella would do best living with queer folks, a home without cis-gendered men, without cats, and without small children. ATTRIBUTES: Stella has lived in foster with other dogs, but can not go to a home with kids, cats, or cis-gendered men. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. We strive to provide accurate information on all of our animals however, we are unable to guarantee an animal's breed, size, health, behavior, temperament, or any other conditions. Our adoption fees are not inclusive of all vetting / medical care, food, supplies and/or training costs. Since we rely on donations to compensate for those deficits we are unable to reduce or refund this fee. *Woof* Come meet me at 71 Oglethorpe St NW between 12-7pm every day!Buella is amazing. During a weekend foster stay, her foster shared that she`s an incredible pup. She`s potty trained and has a huge love for cuddles. She’s smart, learns quickly, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She was friendly with all the adults and children she met and will happily curl herself up in a free lap at every opportunity. She’s great about giving things back, isn’t possessive, and has no issues with food guarding. She has this adorable way of turning her head to really listen to what we`re saying! She`s so smart. Buella is attentive, loving, precious and super gorgeous. Buella is almost 60 pounds, and she`s pure love. A volunteer recently shared this: `She is such a sweet love who is friends with everyone and wants to give hugs to every person she passes.` If you love the big doggies with darling smiles, and one`s that will listen to all your problems (and maybe fix one or two!), then you must take home Buella today. She is a DOLL!

Story
Meet Gumbo — the definition of a grateful good boy. Gumbo is a medium-sized sweetheart who has truly come into his own. Now at his healthy, ideal weight, he’s gained not just strength but confidence too — and it shows in everything he does. Once a little shy, Gumbo is now playful, affectionate, and full of heart. He’s fully potty trained, loves his toys, and has mastered tug-of-war — though despite being super strong, he sweetly lets his foster sister win so the game can keep going. Gumbo is incredibly eager to please, very food motivated, and learning how to communicate his needs more every day. This boy adores a good snuggle and wants nothing more than to be close to his people. He’s thoughtful with other dogs, responsive to their cues, and has a gentle, respectful way about him. Gumbo truly seems to understand that he’s been given a second chance — he doesn’t take a soft bed, a kind hand, or a full belly for granted. And if you’re cooking? Don’t worry — Gumbo will be right there, ready to assist with any floor clean-up duties. 😉 Gumbo is loyal, loving, and endlessly appreciative of the life he’s been given. He’s not just looking for a home — he’s ready to give his whole heart to it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ADOPTION DISCLAIMER: At Perfectly Paired Pitties (P3), we aim to provide accurate information about all of our animals to the best of our abilities. *** 50% of Daisy's adoption fee is sponsored by Petfinder *** Meet Daisy, the "who needs a personal space bubble?" cuddle queen with a heart as big as her 57 -pound frame! This happy-go-lucky girl is a lovable pitbull/bat/cow mix (yes, we’re serious, she’s that cool) who is now 2 years old. She's the best snuggler you could ever ask for—her favorite place is always someone's lap, so if you’re into lap dogs, she’s your girl! Daisy may have a medium energy level, but she’s all about those walks, playtime, and mental stimulation. She’s a tug-of-war champ and — she’s potty trained, and knows a whole bunch of tricks like sit, paw, touch, and down! She’s got those manners down! Daisy loves other dogs, especially if they’re up for some playtime. She is a second dog required which means she has to have a doggy friend at home. She’s good with older kids and would fit right in with an active family who can help her continue her training (she might need a little help with not jumping on humans and polishing her walking skills—no biggie, though!). Daisy had a rough start, ending up at the PG County shelter as a stray and almost losing her chance at a happily ever after. But we couldn’t let that happen, so we swooped in and saved her life. She’s been with us since June 2024, and now she’s ready for a forever home that will love her goofy, joyful self just as much as we do. Could that be with you? -------------------------------------- ADOPTION DISCLAIMER: At Perfectly Paired Pitties (P3), we aim to provide accurate information about all of our animals to the best of our abilities. Whether it is his favorite toy or a couch pillow he proudly offers, Kooly loves greeting his people with full-body tail wags and something special in his mouth just for you. 2. He is a cuddle-bug. Kooly thinks he is a lap dog at heart. He loves curling up close, resting his head on you, and using a polite paw tap to ask for more attention. His eyes are incredibly expressive with warm brown and soft flecks of blue. 3. He is smart, attentive, and loves being included. Kooly stays right by your side and wants to be part of your routine. He knows many commands (sit, lay down, shake, stay, come, leave it, take it, up, down, and crate) and is fully house-trained. He is good on leash overall and may get a little excited when he sees another dog he wants to greet. Kooly currently lives with two adults and a friendly medium-large dog. He has met kids and toddlers on walks and does well. Kooly would do great as the only dog or with a confident dog friend over about 40 lbs. His foster family is helping him continue to build confidence, and he has done well at farmers markets, outdoor events, and meeting new people. Kooly loves walks, toys, zoomies, and relaxing with his people. He is a dog who draws compliments everywhere he goes. Neighbors and strangers alike stop to say hello and comment on how handsome and sweet he is. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who wants to be your sidekick in life, Koolaid is your boy. Apply to foster OR adopt today and help this sweet boy get the second chance he deserves!
