I never knew a dog with such vocal range! Likes: Riding in the car, going for walks, taking naps Hi Im Vela! My foster family describes me as incredibly pleasant and good natured. What a glowing review, right?? They also say Im friendly and easy-going, up for any kind of adventure, and the perfect balance of sassy and sweet! At home Im a very well-behaved girl. I like to keep watch over things, and let my people know if anything suspicious (like a squirrel is approaching the perimeter). But dont worry, my foster family says Im not loud or disruptive, just an alerter! I never chew things up, Im good in my crate overnight and during the day, and Im okay with staying home alone too. Im very polite with sharing my food and toys with humans, and I respect boundaries and am a good listener! Im a curious girl, and I like to see what everyone is up to around the house, but Im not clingy. My foster family says Im the ideal blend of velcro dog and independent queen. Being such a good listener, I know a lot of tricks! I know sit, stay, down, off, come, touch, and some fancy obedience trial ones too! I like to learn, and hope that my forever family will want to keep the trick practice (and treats!) flowing! I also love puzzle toys and brain games. Im a smart cookie, and I love working on a project like a snuffle mat or frozen kong. Something Im working on is being calm outside the house, since I can get overstimulated when there is too much going on. Im practising walking on a loose leash even when I have something cool to chase, but my foster family says Im easy to re-direct if something startles me or if I start getting distracted. They think once the D.C. sidewalks are back to not being pure ice, I might be a little more confident walking around. When Im not lounging at the house, or being a training superstar, I love to go on adventures! Im the perfect errand buddy, because I love riding in the car, and Ill happily sit up front and keep the driver company! I know Im supposed to stay in the back, but it would be rude to not greet my chauffeur when they come back to the car after a stop, right?? I cant wait to find my forever family, and go on all the adventures, and share all the snacks, and give all my love to them! If you think we might be a match, apply to adopt me today! Story
Ruthie is a 2-year-old, 60-lb Boxer mix with a gentle soul and a brilliant mind. Before coming into rescue, Ruthie lived on her own for at least 6 months, skillfully evading capture, multiple trapping attempts, and surviving in an industrial area of town. Fed by kind mechanics and workers, she learned how to stay safe, avoid danger, and always show up for food — and that intelligence still shines through today. After a dramatic capture, Ruthie has been in a foster home, where she’s proven to be a very polite houseguest. She is fully house-trained and, even at her scariest moments, has never shown a hint of aggression — no growling, no raised lips, just fear. Ruthie is shy and deeply cautious with people, but she is sweet, gentle, and incredibly observant. We would not be surprised if Ruthie spent some of her life in someone’s home.  This brainy girl reads the room like a pro. She knows when a human might approach and will quietly skedaddle to keep herself feeling safe. While she’s still very nervous about leashes and handling, she allows most people to gently scratch her muzzle, and she’s learning — slowly but surely — that human touch isn’t such a bad thing. Watching her progress has been incredibly rewarding, especially as she’s started to enjoy ear scratches and soft affection from her foster mom. Ruthie is a great pack dog. She does beautifully with dogs of all sizes and temperaments and enjoys playful wrestling with dogs her size, but doesn’t demand play.  She happily coexists with the resident Chihuahua in her foster home. Ruthie is calm and content indoors and also enjoys a daily visit to the dog park. She’s a quiet presence who’s perfectly happy lounging on a chair, listening to her foster mom’s Zoom calls, and soaking in the safety of home life. At home, Ruthie is her foster mom’s quiet shadow. She sleeps in her room, wiggles with excitement when she comes home, follows her around the dog park — and yet may still hop off her bed and slip away if that same foster mom walks toward her for a pet. With Ruthie, trust is built in tiny, meaningful moments, and every day brings progress. Because of her history, Ruthie is a high flight-risk dog, especially in the early days. She will need a very committed adopter with a securely fenced yard, experience with fearful or flight-risk dogs, and a willingness to use safety tools like GPS collars, double leashes, and secure handling. Strength matters too — this is a 60-lb girl who needs someone confident and prepared. Ruthie has been around children at the dog park and treats them like little adults — with polite, reserved hesitation. She is food-motivated, sweet, and incredibly smart. With patience, structure, and time, she has all the makings of a truly special companion. Ruthie is one of those dogs who, with the right adopter and a few committed months of trust-building, will become a dream dog. Watching her finally relax, feel safe, and just be a dog has been an absolute privilege — and we can’t wait to see her find the forever home she deserves. ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 19, 2026, 5:05 pm

Story
Stella is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Stella is one of the most low maintenance fosters I've ever had the pleasure of helping find a forever home. From being a shy, scared, and timid girl to being confident, secure, and well-mannered, Stella has grown so much in the 2+ years I've known her; although the vacuum cleaner is still enemy #1. Stella has lived in all types of settings: in a busy city, in an apartment, on a quiet street, with dogs, with reactive dogs, and easily adapted to her home environment. She is crate trained and LOVES having a bed in her crate to curl up into a donut while you're at work. She knows every basic command like sit, down, touch, stay and is fully potty trained. Stella's favorite toy is a lambie, or something else that is tiny that she can carry around in her mouth. Once, she took care of an egg for 6 hours before it broke, she's the most gentle creature. Stella is made of love and French fries. There's nothing more that she wants than to be inside with her people, cuddled up on the couch with a show, or playing sous chef in a calm kitchen. She takes awhile to warm up to her people, but with some french fires (her favorite is Burger King), some space, and a bit of patience, she'll love you unconditionally and will likely knock you over from wagging her tail and wiggling so hard with excitement every time she sees you. Although Stella is a perfect girl in the home, on leash, and with other dogs, she is scared of human strangers, especially masculine presenting people, and will need a strong advocate to help keep her safe. If you're looking for a great addition to your calm and cozy life with unconditional love to give, Stella is the gal for you. Stella would do best living with queer folks, a home without cis-gendered men, without cats, and without small children. ATTRIBUTES: Stella has lived in foster with other dogs, but can not go to a home with kids, cats, or cis-gendered men. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. Jordon is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: Meet Jordon, a 50-pound adult dog whose hobbies include playtime, snuggles, and making new canine or people friends. His idea of a perfect day is playing and running around the yard with his foster siblings or you. If he could be in your skin with you, he would. For now, though, he'll settle for a good couch cuddle. His love language is physical touch, aka you picking up and holding all 50 pounds of him. He can be a bit clumsy at times, but that's simply part of his charm. Like the rest of us, Jordan can suffer from a bit of FOMO when he knows his favorite people are in the home, but he's in his crate. When you're away, however, he does much better in the crate, especially if it's sweetened with a bully stick or kong. Jordon would do best with someone who could work with him on his separation anxiety. Jordon does well with other dogs or, in his eyes, other friends. He can sometimes be forgetful of his size and come on strongly, but all he wants to do is play and make friends. He even grew up with three brothers. He can be hesitant at first with people, but he warms up quickly and just wants to cuddle and/or play. Because of his size and lack of awareness of such, he would do best in a home with bigger children. If you want a constant cuddle bug or a friend to all, apply for Jordon today! -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. Meet Sweetie - the absolute sweetest of the bunch! With her tender, hazel eyes and ears as big as can be, Sweetie is known to even stop traffic with how adorable she is. But this girl is not just beauty - she's got the brains as well! Her foster reports that her house training is going very well (a gold star in all aspects), she loves other dogs, and she picks up on tricks for treats quite quickly. Sweetie loves her people and would likely do well with older or savvy kids in the home! Sweetie is the total package deal, and c'mon, just look at that face! She's ready to be someone's loyal companion - could that be you? Sweetie's Foster shared "Sweetie is discovering the benefits of cuddling and getting petted." --------- ADOPTION DISCLAIMER: At Perfectly Paired Pitties (P3), we aim to provide accurate information about all of our animals to the best of our abilities. Brandy is a playful, snugly pup with a heart big enough for everyone she meets. Once surrendered when her family moved, she was heartbreakingly scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of shelter space — but this sweet girl never stopped believing in people. And wow, does she love people! Humans are the very center of her world. Brandy’s days are best spent playing tug, carrying around her beloved piggy toy, and soaking up endless cuddles. Brandy has previously lived with children (ages unknown). Whether you’re up for playtime or a cozy nap, Brandy is always ready. Now she’s looking for a forever family who’ll give her all the love she’s been waiting for — and she’ll happily return it tenfold. 🐾💛 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ADOPTION DISCLAIMER: At Perfectly Paired Pitties (P3), we aim to provide accurate information about all of our animals to the best of our abilities. Story
Meet Gumbo — the definition of a grateful good boy. Gumbo is a medium-sized sweetheart who has truly come into his own. Now at his healthy, ideal weight, he’s gained not just strength but confidence too — and it shows in everything he does. Once a little shy, Gumbo is now playful, affectionate, and full of heart. He’s fully potty trained, loves his toys, and has mastered tug-of-war — though despite being super strong, he sweetly lets his foster sister win so the game can keep going. Gumbo is incredibly eager to please, very food motivated, and learning how to communicate his needs more every day. This boy adores a good snuggle and wants nothing more than to be close to his people. He’s thoughtful with other dogs, responsive to their cues, and has a gentle, respectful way about him. Gumbo truly seems to understand that he’s been given a second chance — he doesn’t take a soft bed, a kind hand, or a full belly for granted. And if you’re cooking? Don’t worry — Gumbo will be right there, ready to assist with any floor clean-up duties. 😉 Gumbo is loyal, loving, and endlessly appreciative of the life he’s been given. He’s not just looking for a home — he’s ready to give his whole heart to it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ADOPTION DISCLAIMER: At Perfectly Paired Pitties (P3), we aim to provide accurate information about all of our animals to the best of our abilities.
