Story
** I am currently being housed at our New York Avenue location. Come meet me at 1201 New York Avenue NE, every day from 12pm-7pm. Please arrive no later than 6:30 p.m. to allow ample time to interact with adoptable dogs. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. Gala is a dignified, stoic, gentle dog seeking reassurance and kindness. Everyone here is going out of their way to comfort her. She is so SWEET, but her confidence is hiding at the moment. Gala was a stray dog, so we don't know her back story. While here, she is doing her very best to adapt. We have been fussing over her and we are winning her heart with yummy treats and gentle conversation. And she is now seeking out pettings and affection. Gala has a heart of gold. She would LOVE a home with folks that will help her bloom! Please visit this lovely ginger pup today and show her the love she deserves.

Story
Riley is the sweetest snuggle bunny. It breaks my heart to let her go but I'm having surgery and it will be difficult to care for her on top of moving! She is a 2 year old Pitbull mix. She loves kids, other dogs, women but not fond of men. She for some reason gets aggressive towards men when on her turf meaning her house. Otherwise outside of the home she's great with them! I adopted her so not sure if it's PTSD from her younger years with her original owner or if she's very protective of me. She's almost through with her Heartworm treatment. Sadly, she also has 2 partially torn ACL's. Please let me know if you're interested in my snuggle bunny who loves to lick and be pet. You'll never be alone with Riley because she will adore you!

Story
Dude is an extremely sweet, 13-week-old Bull Terrier/Plott Hound mix (best guess!), who weighs in at 16 pounds (as of 2/1). He is fabulous with other dogs, loves all people, and is young enough to learn about cats. A yard to romp in and people to cuddle up with are all on this pup's wish list! Dude loves playing with other dogs so a canine companion would be a big plus! Dude is up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines and preventatives and will need to be neutered when he is 6 months old. This dog's adoption fee is $400, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. If the animal you are adopting is not already spayed/neutered, a $100 refundable deposit will be added to the adoption fee and you will be required to sign a contract legally obligating you to have the animal altered. ***Note that puppy adoption fees most often help generate revenue that goes towards older, special needs animals that need our help. Surgeries, heartworm treatment, boarding costs....all things that often result in adoptable dogs and cats being left behind to be euthanized. So, adopting a puppy saves not just one life, but many! Puppies require an adopter who is home a good part of the day to continue their training - no exceptions! They are up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines and preventatives and will need to be spayed/neutered at the age of 6 months. Please note, this pup's immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age and therefore, s/he is not suited for Apartment/Condo living or Town homes without a private fenced yard and will not be able to go to public places where s/he could possibly be exposed to the germs of unvaccinated dogs, such as PetSmart/PetCo and dog parks until s/he is 16 weeks old Freckles Foundation & Animal Rescue cannot guarantee the exact age or breed of any animal in our care. The age and breed listed are based on information we may have been provided, and the appearance of the animal.

Story
MEET OWEN!   This gentle and loving boy is a 5 year old, bull terrier/plott hound mix and weighs in at a healthy 84 lbs. Initially adopted 4 years ago, he was sadly returned because the toddler developed an allergy to him.    Owen has allergies too! Like many dogs (or at least like mine!) Owen is allergic to all poultry, and his fur will come out and he will be itchy if he is given any food with chicken, duck, turkey, or their eggs. He is on a great diet of fish and potato and is enjoying a soft and lush coat.   Owen loves children. Despite his size, he was an absolute gentle giant with the baby of the house. He knows all of his commands, and he will pull sometimes when he gets ready for a walkie. This is trainable, of course! He loves to be outside sniffing all the things! Owen lives with and does well with male and female dogs his size and smaller.    Owen is a nice, nice boy who would be as happy laying next to you as he would going out on an adventure. He is great in the car and is very forgiving of his chauffeur's off key singing.   Owen’s adoption donation fee is $350, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for Owen by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.February 23, 2024, 5:12 pm

Clover was part of a litter of 8 pups. We rescued them and are looking for loving homes for him and his siblings. He is a sweet boy and loves to play with my kids. He is the biggest of the litter. I am offering $50 cash back if you so proof if neutering before 1 year. This is the best for him and helps reduce potential unwanted puppy litters. He was born June 2023.

Story
When you eat your Thanksgiving turkey- will you think of me?? I will be right next to you trying to get it... NOW will you think of me?? LOL, ok, I kid.... I do love turkey though :) I am Wishbone, and I am a bull terrier/beagle mixed boy with a story to tell! I am so smart like a bull terrier- somewhat stubborn, like a bull terrier, but I follow my NOSE like a beagle! I am super cute, only about 40# and I am pretty active. I love to have a hard playing buddy, no small animals (like kitties) as I have a prey drive- like a bull terrier.. you see where I am going with this, right?? I would love have an active family, kids older than grade school as I love a moving target and smaller ones don't quite understand that. I am a love bug, and once tired out I am the bestest cuddler! So, what are you waiting for? Look me up, take me on adventures when you apply to adopt me! ADOPT, DON'T SHOP!!!! MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)
