Calico kittens & cats in Galveston, Texas

Hope was found on the side of a busy road.  She was only 4-5 weeks old.  She was  d iagnosed with blunt force trauma to the spine.    She went for a second opinion  to  the   only board certified cat vet in  Texas .  He recommended hydrotherapy and Reiki.  We  believed  she would walk and hoped that she would gain control of her bladder.   For  5 months ,   t wice a day for 30 minutes  sessions , she went into the water and  worked hard .   Her back leg  muscles grew stronger.   B oth of her legs  move d . Her tail move d from side to side, but  w ould n’ t lift it up.   Rei ki kept her spirits high .   Sadly, after another  vet  consultation , it was determined  she has plateaued and w on’t  regain her ability to walk or control her bladder or bowels.    She is a very loving and affectionate cat.  Her special needs don’t hold her back.  She scoots around at the speed of light.  She can climb a cat tree and loves to go on walks outside in her stroller.  She loves to chase the laser light and balls.  She also likes to watch the  world   pass by  while  looking out  the window .    She is cat and dog friendly.  She never meets a stranger.   When you pick her up, she immediately leans back asking for loving pets under her chin and neck.   She is looking for that special person to love with all her heart and take care of her special needs  furever .   Hope is located in Houston, TX and we will consider transport for the right person. Anise was brought to the rescue with her 4 babies. Her babies were very sick and she knew she needed help with them. Anise brought her babies to a good samaritans front porch, tying to find help for her and her babies. Once they were brought to the rescue everyone received medical care and are now doing amazing. Anise has been a wonderful mother and sweet house guest in her foster home. She loves pets and scratches! She is such a sweet, kind, loving animal that deserves a family to call her own! Sweetie was found on the streets with her 3 sweet little babies who were very sick. A Good Samaritan brought the family into her home and reached out for help. The whole family was brought into the rescue and received medical attention and now everyone is thriving! Sweetie has finished her duties as mom and is now enjoying life indoors! She was a bit overwhelmed when she was first let loose in the house, but each day that goes by Sweeting settles in more and more. She has decided the best place in the house is sleeping in a smaller humans bed! She loves the regular meal times! Sweet Peanut is such a joy to have in foster! She came to the rescue with her 6 babies, one being special needs! She was a wonderful mother and did an amazing job raiser wonderful kittens. Peanut now spends her enjoying being an indoor cat! She plays so hard with the other foster kitties! Have you ever seen a cat chase its tail!?! Well Peanut does and it’s her favorite thing to do! Don’t let the three legs fool you. Caramello will outrun, out-climb, and boss around all her foster friends. She absolutely loves spending times on her cat tree by the window, observing the world and watching out for visitors. She takes some time to warm up to new people but once she does, she’ll come when called and spend lots of time cuddling with you. You see, she came from the streets. She was a just a young kitten trying to survive on her own. She was brought into a clinic to be spayed where it was discovered her leg had subsided and injury that left the nerve severed and needed to be amputated. She also had a severe injury to her tail that required it to be amputated too. We will never know what happened to her but we know it will never happen again! She has settled into the good life indoors!!! She’s great with other cats and will introduce herself first to them too. Despite her resting grump face, she’s a happy cat that has faced the hard world and still learned to love people. She is 7 months old and fully vetted!! Meet Pepe! Pepe isn't a normal orange cat, he's a coooool orange cat - just look at his unique, light orange shade and beautiful green eyes! Pepe is currently residing in our Community Cat Room, but don't worry, he's not looking to put down roots there. Instead, he likes to greet all visitors with meows and ankles nuzzles in an attempt to steal their hearts (and maybe one day their beds). Seriously though, Pepe loves attention and thrives on affection. He wants all the pets and cuddles. At roughly a year old, Pepe is also a playful little dude. He likes wand toys and wrestling with his kitty roommates. He also has a propensity for hanging out on high shelves or the top of the cat tree. Quinn is a male, 4-year old, domestic short hair orange tabby! He is neutered and micro-chipped as well. Quarry is a delightful indoor cat who thrives on love and affection. You would think he was a dog in his previous life because he enjoys playing fetch with pony tail hair ties and begging for scratches. Quinn is trained to use a cat window to access an outdoor cat litter box.

Marjorie was brought to GIHS by one of our very own volunteers, who found her begging for food on the streets. Two days later, Marjorie gave birth to four beautiful kittens right in her kennel. Since having her babies, Marjorie has been living in a foster home where she declared her love language to be Quality Time, and not Physical Touch. While she likes gentle head pets, she much prefers to sit next to you on the couch rather be in your lap. Marjorie also prefers to have all four paws on the ground - she's not one to enjoy being held. Though Marjorie is timid around strangers, she is the loveliest little companion once you earn her trust. She is very playful and loves all sorts of toys - wands, stuffed mice, plastic springs, everything! She gets along with other playful kitties and would love a home with a friend (perhaps her foster sister, Gemma). Underneath her initial nervousness, Marjorie is just a sweetheart looking for a calm, low-energy home. Could you be her person?
