Name: MelodyBreed: Calico/DSHDOB: 7/3/2026Good with kids: YESGood with dogs: YESGood with cats: YESFoster location:  Roscoe, IL  Adoption fee: $200 a kitten or $350 for a pair of kittens under 2 years of age. Fun Bio: Kittens need to hit 2 pounds (usually around 10–12 weeks old) before they can be spayed or neutered. We try to schedule their surgeries as close to that mark as possible, but of course it depends on the vet’s availability. This all has to happen before they’re ready for adoption—so once they’re fixed, they’ll be on their way to their forever homes!  If interested in a pet from us please fill out the adoption application that is located on our website.  We process applications in the order in which they are received.   We always recommend playtime, positive reinforcement training and a regular schedule for feeding times when bringing a new cat/kitten into your home. Adjustment takes time for both you and your new family member, so remember to be patient and enjoy this new and exciting time! Included in the adoption fee are age appropriate vaccinations, FeLV/FIV testing (done at 26 weeks), deworming, spay or neuter surgery, and microchip. Anti-Declawing Policy: All cats and kittens will have a no declaw policy in their adoption contract with us!   Declawing is a series of bone amputations.  Declawing is more accurately described by the term de-knuckling and is not merely the removal of the claws, as the term “declawing” implies.  In humans, fingernails grow from the skin, but in animals that hunt prey, the claws grow from the bone; therefore, the last bone is amputated so the claw cannot re-grow.  Declawing is one of the most painful, routinely performed procedures in all of veterinary medicine.  Each toe of the cat is amputated at the first joint.  Declawing a cat is equivalent in a person to amputating the entire first knuckle of every finger.  Declawing is done strictly for the benefit of the owner.  There are NO benefits to the cat and NO good reasons to declaw. Declawing can lead to behavior changes.  A declawed cat has no way to defend itself and may resort to biting more often.  Due to pain, they may stop using the litter box.  There are humane alternatives to declawing.  Cats can be trained to use scratching posts.  They should have their nails trimmed regularly.  There is double sided sticky tape that can be put on furniture to deter a cat from scratching there.  There are also nail caps called Soft Paws that are glued onto a cat's nail without harm.   ##2810953##

Story
Maverick. If you have a fuzzy toy mouse problem he's your kitten. He's obsessed with them. He can be shy and doesn't enjoy being handled as much as his sisters but will purr when picked up once he knows you. He's very curious and playful. And if you have a real mouse problem he might be able to help you with that too.   Maverick is 3-4 months old. All kittens/cats are spayed/neutered, have started their vaccinations, are microchipped, and dewormed.   If you have been thinking about adding a kitten to your family, ask for more information on the felines at Bichon and Little Buddies!  Adoption fee for felines is $125, and if you adopt more than one, it is $100 for the second kitten. If you are interested in meeting any of the pets at Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue, please fill out the pre-adoption application.  After reviewing the application, we will get in touch with you to set up an appointment to meet with the dog/cat you are interested in. All dogs/cats are seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Many are in various foster homes getting extra one on one attention getting them ready for their new homes.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application.  Bichon and Little Buddies is run by volunteers who have full time jobs in addition to the hours they spend with the rescue animals.  Having an application on file assures us that the potential adopter is really interested in adopting a pet.  It also assists us in placing our animals in homes where both the pet and new owners are happy.  The application puts you under no obligation to adopt a dog or cat from Bichon and Little Buddies. The Pre-Adoption Application can be found at http://www.bichonrescues.com/adoption.html  and can be filled out online. Thanks for thinking about adopting your new pet!  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS August 17, 2026, 7:46 pm
