Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? I am Amira! ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I’m a a lovely lady! HOW OLD ARE YOU? I was born in March 2022. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? Cane Corso HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I’m a perfectly-proportioned 80 pounds of fabulous! WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I have a beautiful soft grey coat with soulful eyes. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I like my kibble just fine, but, oh boy, do I love Nubz and any treats I can convince my humans to give me! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I’m extremely playful and loyal. I love being near my human as much as possible. I especially love playing fetch or getting to chase after my foster brother. We have so much fun together! DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: I like to wake up nice and early, as I’m always excited for breakfast. Then I savor my leisurely schedule with a nice long bone-chewing session. As long as I get some playtime, cuddles, and a good walk, I don’t mind what order it’s in…I just want to be with you as much as possible. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? Oh, the MOST fun toy for me is my Kong ball! I have so much fun chasing it around! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? Sit, Down, Shake and I’m working on Stay. My foster mom says I’m SUCH a smart girl! WHAT SCARES YOU? I’m scared of being left alone, so I cry when my human leaves me alone. But I’m starting to get more comfortable being alone knowing that it’s not for long. And I am also not a fan of fireworks…Big booms in the sky? No, thank you! HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? I’ve met a few kids and they seem nice, but I’m a big girl so I think my excitement might be a little much for small kids. Older children only, please! DO YOU LIKE CATS? I see them on walks and they look fun to chase. I think I’ll pass on them as a playmate, though! HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I love hanging out and playing with my foster brother. I wasn’t so sure about him at first, but now he’s my best friend. With slow introductions, I will make friends just fine. Please set me up for success! IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Right next to my human. I’m very loyal and lovable, so wherever you are sounds good to me! HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I am strong and healthy. Foster mom says I am perfect… and I think foster mom is absolutely right about that! WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom, her brother, and my 100-pound pit bull brother. I love them all, but foster mom is my favorite. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I really don’t like being left alone, but I am safe in my crate when foster mom needs to go out. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I am a good girl sleeping in my cozy crate overnight. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? Yes, I love walks and am SUCH a good girl on leash! I need to be reminded of my manners sometimes because there are so many interesting things to see out in the world and I get a little excited! DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? I get anxious when I get left in my crate, so I scratch and lick at the sides too much sometimes. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? Yes, I haven’t had a single accident in the house! DO YOU LIKE WATER? The rain is not for me, but I am a very good girl in the bath. I actually enjoy them! WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? They spoil me with treats and cuddles, I get lots of time to play with my foster brother and there’s always a bone to chew on when I get tired. Also, we have a great neighborhood for long walks, which is so much fun for me! Oh…and my foster mom even takes me on car rides to get these things called pup cups! Yummy! WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? My owner got pretty sick and couldn’t take care of me anymore, so I had to go to the shelter. Luckily, NorCal Bully Breed Rescue got me out of there and took me to a wonderful foster home. Now it is time for me to find a home of my own where I will be loved for the rest of my life! I would really love to meet you and come home with you! Sounds amazing, right? **AMIRA’s ADOPTION FEE IS $100** If you are interested in AMIRA, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas. Story
Bella Swan is a sweet and gentle companion who has lived with young children and with cats. She is house trained, crate trained, and obedience trained. She enjoys neighborhood walks, does not pull on the leash, and ignores other dogs. She enjoys being brushed and petted and is very tolerant of veterinary visits. She is polite around the gardener and the pool cleaner in her foster home. She gives the softest kisses on your toes and your hands - and likes being kissed on the top of her head and scratched behind her ears. She knows obedience such as sit, down, wait, stay, shake, go to bed, come when called - and when recently praised for her obedience, she was so happy she did zoomies around the pool! Her favorite toys are a kong and a nyla bone, and she loves to fetch a tennis ball - and she enjoys chewing on ice cubes. Bella Swan can be left home alone for several hours, she will wait for you indoors on her dog bed, or indoors in an extra large dog crate for a few hours, or in the backyard. While in her foster home, Bella Swan took direction from the 6 pound pet cat. Bella Swan has calmly accepted the cat`s house rules and now she peacefully shares the home and the attention of the foster family with the cat. During her stay with Placer SPCA, Bella Swan has been on numerous field trips, including to Fountains shopping center, Tractor Supply, coffee shops, city parks, and to the Subaru dealership. She rides on the floor of the back seat of a car. She is a big gal, so move the passenger front seat up to make room for Bella Swan in the back. Bella Swan will make every adventure more fun. Bella Swan may get along with other dogs with a slow introduction. Adoption Price: $150Adoption Fee Waived!

Story
***Special Needs Dog*** Romeo is a stunning, sweet, goofy boy with luscious jowls and the most soulful eyes you've ever seen. True to his name, this boy is 100 percent pure LOVER. He loves to be snuggled and pet and he just melts hearts wherever he goes. Despite his young age, Romeo is a gentle boy with medium energy. He has tested well with small dogs, most big dogs, kids, and even ignores cats. He came to us quite underweight and still needs to gain some more - he should probably be around 115 or 120. Sadly, Romeo has a neurological condition that causes him to walk a bit like a drunk old man and fall down somewhat frequently. His prognosis is unclear. The neurologist at UC Davis believes the condition could be related to a rare infection (not contagious!), which we are treating, but there is no guarantee the medications will cure the issue, or that the issue won't return later. It will be a process of trial and error, and there is no way to predict how quickly his mobility will decline, or whether it will decline at all. Romeo is a happy happy boy though and to anyone who didn't know him, they would just think he's clumsy, but it can be emotionally challenging as his human to watch him fall down and then struggle sometimes to get back up. His condition is not life threatening, but it will need to be managed (no steep stairs or rough play for this boy) and, to give him the best quality of life, whoever adopts this boy should be prepared for follow-up neurology visits and possible diagnostics down the road, which will be costly. The illness is not deadly, but it will mean he will eventually not be able to walk or control his bowels - whether that is 6 months from now or 10 years from now is anyone's guess - which would likely mean euthanasia. Romeo is just such a joy to be around, and we think he's 100 percent worth every effort and every penny! (Note: HHR is covering all the costs of his treatment while a complete diagnosis and treatment plan is being developed, so right now we are looking for a dedicated foster or foster-to-adopt.) Romeo is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on his vaccines. To meet him in person, please fill out an adoption application. If you are using Adopt-a-Pet, you may click on the "Apply Online" button. If you are visiting us on Petfinder or other websites, please copy & paste this link: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HHRC/Dog or apply directly on our website at househipporescue.org. We will get back to you within 72 hours. If you have general questions about that are not answered in the above bio, please email admin@househipporescue.org and we will be happy to answer them!
