Story
Athena is an energetic girl who loves people and toys. She loves to play ball and tug of war. She needs tough toys as she tends to eat them if they fall apart. Her favorites are tough rubber balls and ropes. Athena also likes to sleep near people and loves belly rubs. Athena needs space to run and lots of love and attention. She can sit and shake for treats (with both paws). She does tend to drool a bit if she is overstimulated or hungry and she will slosh water when she drinks because she likes to stick her face in it! She does tend to be a bit food aggressive so she will growl if people/pets are near her food bowl but she can eat with another dog as long as they aren't right next to her or trying to eat out of her bowl. Athena was raised with lots of people, 5 kids, 4 cats, and another dog around. She will chase cats if they run but she's never hurt one. She even played with one of our more feisty cats. We love Athena but she deserves a better life than we can currently provide.

Story
WHAT IS YOUR NAME? I am Amira! ARE YOU A BOY OR A GIRL? I’m a a lovely lady! HOW OLD ARE YOU? I was born in March 2022. WHAT BREED ARE YOU? Cane Corso HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? I’m a perfectly-proportioned 80 pounds of fabulous! WHAT DO YOU LOOK LIKE? I have a beautiful soft grey coat with soulful eyes. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO EAT? I like my kibble just fine, but, oh boy, do I love Nubz and any treats I can convince my humans to give me! WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY DO YOU HAVE? I’m extremely playful and loyal. I love being near my human as much as possible. I especially love playing fetch or getting to chase after my foster brother. We have so much fun together! DESCRIBE YOUR PERFECT DAY: I like to wake up nice and early, as I’m always excited for breakfast. Then I savor my leisurely schedule with a nice long bone-chewing session. As long as I get some playtime, cuddles, and a good walk, I don’t mind what order it’s in…I just want to be with you as much as possible. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TOY? Oh, the MOST fun toy for me is my Kong ball! I have so much fun chasing it around! DO YOU KNOW ANY TRICKS? Sit, Down, Shake and I’m working on Stay. My foster mom says I’m SUCH a smart girl! WHAT SCARES YOU? I’m scared of being left alone, so I cry when my human leaves me alone. But I’m starting to get more comfortable being alone knowing that it’s not for long. And I am also not a fan of fireworks…Big booms in the sky? No, thank you! HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND CHILDREN? I’ve met a few kids and they seem nice, but I’m a big girl so I think my excitement might be a little much for small kids. Older children only, please! DO YOU LIKE CATS? I see them on walks and they look fun to chase. I think I’ll pass on them as a playmate, though! HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OTHER DOGS? I love hanging out and playing with my foster brother. I wasn’t so sure about him at first, but now he’s my best friend. With slow introductions, I will make friends just fine. Please set me up for success! IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE? Right next to my human. I’m very loyal and lovable, so wherever you are sounds good to me! HOW IS YOUR HEALTH? I am strong and healthy. Foster mom says I am perfect… and I think foster mom is absolutely right about that! WHO DO YOU LIVE WITH IN YOUR FOSTER HOME AND WHO IS YOUR CLOSEST COMPANION? I live with my foster mom, her brother, and my 100-pound pit bull brother. I love them all, but foster mom is my favorite. WHERE DO YOU HANG OUT WHEN YOU ARE HOME ALONE? I really don’t like being left alone, but I am safe in my crate when foster mom needs to go out. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP? I am a good girl sleeping in my cozy crate overnight. DO YOU LIKE WALKING ON A LEASH? Yes, I love walks and am SUCH a good girl on leash! I need to be reminded of my manners sometimes because there are so many interesting things to see out in the world and I get a little excited! DO YOU HAVE ANY “NOT SO GREAT” HABITS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? I get anxious when I get left in my crate, so I scratch and lick at the sides too much sometimes. ARE YOU HOUSE TRAINED (DO YOU GO POTTY OUTSIDE)? Yes, I haven’t had a single accident in the house! DO YOU LIKE WATER? The rain is not for me, but I am a very good girl in the bath. I actually enjoy them! WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR FOSTER FAMILY? They spoil me with treats and cuddles, I get lots of time to play with my foster brother and there’s always a bone to chew on when I get tired. Also, we have a great neighborhood for long walks, which is so much fun for me! Oh…and my foster mom even takes me on car rides to get these things called pup cups! Yummy! WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? My owner got pretty sick and couldn’t take care of me anymore, so I had to go to the shelter. Luckily, NorCal Bully Breed Rescue got me out of there and took me to a wonderful foster home. Now it is time for me to find a home of my own where I will be loved for the rest of my life! I would really love to meet you and come home with you! Sounds amazing, right? **AMIRA’s ADOPTION FEE IS $100** If you are interested in AMIRA, please jump on our website and fill out an adoption application - www.norcalbullybreedrescue.org At this time we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas. Story
Ava and her brother Wally were born 10/31/24. We got both of them together from a friend who bread her dog with a friends cane corso. They are great with kids as we have a neighborhood full of kids that are constantly at our house with the dogs. I'd like to keep them together if possible but if not that's ok. I have to rehome them as I have to relocate during a divorce and my landlord's insurance won't allow them as well as the yard is not fenced. She is a year old and still a pup but is very smart and knows the difference between all her toys, knows basic commands, and is kennel trained.

Story
Wally and his sister Ava were born 10/31/24. We got them from a friend who bread their dog with a friends cane corso. They are amazing with kids as we have many neighbors kids at the house all the time. He was the runt of the littler but has grown up. I'd like to keep them together however if not no worries. He's still a pup at a year old and needs a little more training but does know basics commands, is kennel trained, and is a total lover doggy. I have to rehome as my new place after a divorce is not fenced and the landlord's insurance won't take bigger dogs. I'd love a good home for my sweet boy!

Story
Sweet Bonnie - a petite Cane Corso - finds herself in urgent need of a foster or adoptive home as her mama is dying of cancer and can no longer care for her. House Hippo Rescue would love nothing more than to ensure this sweet doggie gets a home, even if only temporary, for the holidays. She is absolute doll - gentle with kitties, good with dogs, housebroken, and mostly crate trained. (She hasn't been around kids that we know of, but don't foresee problems, particularly with older kids.) She has no health issues, is spayed, and up to date on her vaccines. She is protective as is typical of the breed and is working with a trainer to improve her socialization skills as she has some fear of busy places and chaos, but she's making GREAT strides and just needs a confident handler. She's a lovely dog. Located in Northern California but transport can be arranged for the right home! If you're interested in being a committed foster, we cover all expenses. To apply to adopt please do NOT inquiry via adoptapet, you must fill out an application at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HHRC/Dog and we will get back to you within 72 hours. (Please do NOT submit an inquiry via Adoptapet - we are not able to view or respond to such inquiries.) If you have any issues filling out the application, please email us at admin@househipporescue.org and we can email you a copy.
