Story
Someone cruelly tied Drew to a gate and drove away, leaving her terrified and alone. She was so frightened that she wouldn’t let anyone near her. Orange County Animal Control was called to help. Using a catch pole, they carefully loaded Drew into their vehicle and brought her to their facility. For the week Drew was there, she remained shut down—too scared to take treats or respond to affection. Whenever the other dogs barked, she would retreat to the back of her kennel, overwhelmed. Because of her fear and withdrawn behavior, the shelter deemed Drew “unadoptable” and scheduled her for euthanasia. But we couldn't let her story end like that. We brought Drew into our care to give her the chance she so clearly deserved. Her first stop was our trusted veterinarian, who quickly sent us a photo of her calmly walking on a leash. Just an hour later, the vet called, gushing about how sweet Drew is—once she feels safe. She just needs a little time and patience to begin trusting people. Drew prefers a calm, stable environment. She doesn't get along with other dogs and may react to aggressive behavior, though she pays no mind to dogs who leave her alone. Because of this, Drew would thrive best in an adult-only home without other pets. With patience and love, Drew has the potential to become a devoted and gentle companion. Will you give her the second chance she’s been waiting for? Please complete an application to adopt Drew at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved, we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Drew and get to know her a bit. Adoption donation includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit. We adopt to residents of Orange County, CA and surrounding areas. Brooklyn is a big, goofy girl that has a lot of love to give. She is a 10 month old Cane Corso, and currently weighs about 70lbs, and will continue to grow quite a bit more! It is clear that she has not had any sort of training, as she is just one overgrown puppy that just wants to play, play, play! However, Brooklyn is incredibly good natured and is already proving to be a very trainable girl. What she needs is consistency and a home that is willing to put in some teaching her manners and giving her a routine. We know she will just thrive in a home. This girl adores people, we aren’t sure the word “stranger” is even in her vocabulary. Even when at the vet she is incredibly friendly, she just wags her tail and goes right up to the doctors for attention. Her favorite technicians get an adorable smile! Brooklyn is very playful and affectionate. She is an A+ passenger in the car, and is already getting a hang of walking on the leash nicely! We are so glad that she ended up with us instead of being sold on Craigslist! Now we can make sure she finds a loving home that wants her for the right reasons. Right now, the shelter is looking for a breed experienced home for Brooklyn!January 8, 2026, 5:25 pm
