Story
I'm an energetic/affectionate/curious dog who enjoys cuddling, sunbathing, playing w/water. Love squeaky toys & destroying stuffed animals. I would thrive in a house w/yard or an owner who is more active/disciplined. Not good with cats or small dogs/small animals. I enjoy playing w/children but would be safer if children were older since I don't know my own size. I know sit, give paw, and spin in English/Spanish. I press button: "lets go poop" & wait by the door. I'm stubborn so I don't go to my cage/bed consistently or come on command, hide under the bed a lot & refuse to come out. Stay in crate while home for less than 3 hours but I whine. Attempted to get trained w/different leashes: gentle leader, no pull harness, prong collars, but I pull on walks, try to run if I see children/small animals. I play w/step sis-Belgium Malinois. I like to cuddle with dad and sleep on mom’s feet when working from home.

Story
How this pet arrived: Remi was brought in by her previous owner on January 24, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you:Are you looking for a best friend who thinks you are the absolute center of the universe? Meet Remi! This sweet girl is a professional "people person" who has never met a human she didn't want to charm. She is incredibly affiliative, which is just a fancy way of saying she's a world-class snuggler and your future #1 fan. Remi has a very important request for her future home: she wants to be your one and only! While she loves humans with all her heart, she's not exactly looking for a canine roommate. She's looking for a home where she can be the sole recipient of all the treats, belly rubs, and attention. Because she's not a fan of other pups, she's trading in the dog park and doggie daycare life for private adventures and backyard fun. She'd do best in a neighborhood with low dog traffic so she can keep her cool and stay focused on her favorite thing - you! Remi is a smarty-pants who needs more than just a quick walk around the block. She's looking for a family that can keep her busy with ample physical and mental enrichment. Think puzzle toys, scent work, or learning cool new tricks! She thrives on positive reinforcement training (did someone say treats?) and is ready to show off how quickly she can learn. Ready to make Remi the center of your world? Come meet her today! At SDHS:Remi has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home! Primary Color: Brindle Secondary Color: White Weight: 78.4 Age: 5yrs 9mths 0wks

Story
Someone cruelly tied Drew to a gate and drove away, leaving her terrified and alone. She was so frightened that she wouldn’t let anyone near her. Orange County Animal Control was called to help. Using a catch pole, they carefully loaded Drew into their vehicle and brought her to their facility. For the week Drew was there, she remained shut down—too scared to take treats or respond to affection. Whenever the other dogs barked, she would retreat to the back of her kennel, overwhelmed. Because of her fear and withdrawn behavior, the shelter deemed Drew “unadoptable” and scheduled her for euthanasia. But we couldn't let her story end like that. We brought Drew into our care to give her the chance she so clearly deserved. Her first stop was our trusted veterinarian, who quickly sent us a photo of her calmly walking on a leash. Just an hour later, the vet called, gushing about how sweet Drew is—once she feels safe. She just needs a little time and patience to begin trusting people. Drew prefers a calm, stable environment. She doesn't get along with other dogs and may react to aggressive behavior, though she pays no mind to dogs who leave her alone. Because of this, Drew would thrive best in an adult-only home without other pets. With patience and love, Drew has the potential to become a devoted and gentle companion. Will you give her the second chance she’s been waiting for? Please complete an application to adopt Drew at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved, we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Drew and get to know her a bit. Adoption donation includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit. We adopt to residents of Orange County, CA and surrounding areas. Please note: For families with children, we require children to be 10 years of age or older, although exceptions are made depending on the circumstances. For more information on our adoption policies visit our website at www.AALOC.org or contact us by e-mail at aaloc@aaloc.org.
