Story
Meet Zelda Zelda is a gentle, sensitive soul who’s looking for a patient and understanding home. She does wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and gets along well with cats. She will need to go to a home with other dogs, as she thrives on the confidence of others. Around people, Zelda can be shy at first and may take about a week to start warming up, but she truly blossoms with time, consistency, and kindness. She’s fully potty trained and comfortable in a crate, though her crate will need to be securely fastened to keep her safe. Zelda walks nicely on a leash and does best when using a slip leash for guidance. Zelda does need a secure home that will ensure she stays safe. She does have some door barrier fear but we are working with a trainer on those issues. With the right person who’s willing to give her the space and time she needs, Zelda will become a loyal and loving companion.

Story
How this pet arrived: Moose was brought in by a community member on March 25, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you: Meet Moose, a handsome pup who's ready to find a home that will let him shine at his own pace. He can be a little shy at first and his stoic expression means he sometimes keeps people guessing, but that just adds to his charm. Moose is looking for patient adopters who understand that the best friendships are built with time, trust and a little space to settle in. Moose would do best with kids ages 8+ who can join in a thoughtful introduction and follow adult guidance. He'll appreciate a family that lets him make the first move, respects when he needs a break and uses a gentle "pet, pet, pause" approach when he's asking for attention. Moose is currently being treated for ear and skin infections, which we suspect are related to allergies. While he is responding well to treatment now, allergies can sometimes be a recurring part of a pup's life, so he'll need a family ready to follow up with their vet to keep his skin clear and his ears happy for the long haul. With kindness, patience and a calm welcome, Moose has all the makings of a wonderful companion. Give him a little time, and you just might see this reserved guy turn into your new best buddy. Shy/Fearful Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Primary Color: Blue Secondary Color: Grey Weight: 76.8 Age: 1yrs 7mths 0wks

Story
How this pet arrived: Remi was brought in by her previous owner on January 24, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you:Are you looking for a best friend who thinks you are the absolute center of the universe? Meet Remi! This sweet girl is a professional "people person" who has never met a human (including kids!) she didn't want to charm. She is incredibly affiliative, which is just a fancy way of saying she's a world-class snuggler and your future #1 fan. Remi has a very important request for her future home: She wants to be your one and only! While she loves humans with all her heart, she's not exactly looking for a canine roommate. She's looking for a home where she can be the sole recipient of all the treats, belly rubs and attention. Because she's not a fan of other pups, she's trading in the dog park and doggie daycare life for on-leash adventures and other bonding activities in places with low dog traffic. Remi is a smarty-pants who needs more than just a quick walk around the block. She's looking for a family that can keep her busy with lots of exercise and mental enrichment. Think puzzle toys, scent work or learning cool new tricks! She thrives on positive reinforcement training (did someone say treats?) and is ready to show off how quickly she can learn. Ready to make Remi the center of your world? Come meet her today! At SDHS:Remi has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home! Primary Color: Brindle Secondary Color: White Weight: 78.4 Age: 5yrs 10mths 4wks

Story
Apollo is a beautiful purebred Cane Corso. He will need a strong owner who has experience with mastiffs, pit bulls or bulldogs. Apollo would do best in an active home with good fencing. He loves to run and play but dog parks are a no no. Typical of this breed, he does not do well with other male dogs. Apollo likes to play hard so supervision with female dogs is needed at the start. He is also loving and sweet and would love to curl up on the couch with you! Very good on a leash as well.

Story
How this pet arrived:This pet was brought in by their previous owner on January 22, 2026. Why this pet is the one for you: Meet Mozart, a friendly, energetic dog who thrives on quality time with his humans, adventure and lots of cuddles. Ideal for an active owner, Mozart loves long walks on a leash where he can sniff and explore. After burning off some energy, Mozart quietly settles in for a nap or solo playtime with a toy or enrichment items. His zest for life and sweet personality make every day a new opportunity for fun and bonding. Mozart loves to be the star of the show and soak up all the love and attention, so he is requesting to be the only pet in his new home. Mozart has two fractured teeth and may require treatment after adoption, so we recommend following up with your veterinarian to keep him happy and healthy. Adopting Mozart means gaining a cuddle bug of a companion ready to fill your days with joy and activity! At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered.
