Story
Nomi is a wonderful dog. She has been the biggest blessing and needs a home that will be able to give her all the love and affection that I can no longer offer with work and pregnancy. She is well behaved and will be your best friend. She is strong so having to walk her is a great part of placing her in the appropriate home. Being a first time dog owner is not best for this breed as they require a lot of knowledge and understanding of their stubborn nature however once understood she will be your best companion

Story
There’s no place like home… let’s find Whiskey one! Whiskey was born at BCAR three years ago, and sadly, while his five littermates and his mom were all long-ago adopted. Whiskey had a very severe case of Parvo and by the time he was healthy and ready for adoption, he was a big, growing dog and was just overlooked. He has had great care and extra love from our volunteers at BCAR, but he needs to be in a home. One of our volunteers invited Whiskey to visit her home for a couple of days. She reported back that he was a perfect gentleman! While being understandably nervous of household noises like the dishwasher, he was a quick learner when it came to couch time! He had no accidents in the house, slept well through the night, and enjoyed TV time. Another volunteer has been working with Whiskey on beginning agility training. You can check out their You Tube video. Bob has been working on various aspects of Whiskey's training several times a week for a while now and they have become best buddies. Bob has this to say about Whiskey: "I enjoy working with Whiskey because he is highly intelligent and has 'personality.' By that i mean he responds well to training/commands and picks up new tasks with ease. His 'personality' varies based on the circumstances. When he is let out of his kennel and goes into the office, he is a bundle of loving energy who adores attention and is genuinely excited to see the volunteers. While on walks to field training he is in high 'alert' mode ready for any situation. While in the dog park he is all silliness as he lies down in the pool to cool off. Also in the dog park, he is super focused on performing agility tasks and following commands to sit, stay and come. He can react to strangers and strange/unknown dogs if left to himself but can also remain relatively calm if on leash or held and told to leave whatever he perceives as a threat. One of his favorite things to do in the dog park is to climb on top of the picnic table, nuzzle up to me and let me massage his neck and shoulders (so much so that if I stop, he "nose bumps" me to keep going). He is a really good dog who needs time, training, compassion and understanding." Whiskey needs to be an only pet but will make a loyal and loving companion for his people. He just needs a chance!! All BCAR dogs are placed as indoor family pets. No electric fences, please. Visit pets every Saturday 11:00 am to 2:00 pm (706-268-1346) or visit our website for adoption information at www.bigcanoeanimalrescue.org.

Story
This laid back hunk is Diesel! He was on an adventure when spotted and arrived to the shelter on 12/2. Diesel is 2 years old and weighs in at 84 pounds. He is such a big teddy, well behaved and sweet. He is a perfect gentleman on a leash and loves his time outside sniffing around. He knows to sit when asked especially if you have a treat. It is reported that he is house trained and dog friendly. Wouldn't you like to wake up to that face every morning? Ask for ID# 15417 Run 82. He will be neutered soon and micro-chipped upon adoption. He has tested negative for heart worm. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.

Story
🐾 Meet Emily – A Gentle, Thoughtful Girl with a Playful Side 🐾📅 Age: ~4–5 years🐶 Breed: Bully / Corso Mix⚖️ Weight: ~85–95 lbs💉 Status: Fully Vetted, Spayed, Ready for AdoptionEmily is a beautiful brindle girl who has come a long way since arriving at the shelter nervous and unsure. With time, patience, and positive handling, she’s shown herself to be a calm, curious dog who warms up at her own pace and builds trust thoughtfully. She may not rush into affection, but once comfortable, she truly enjoys human attention and gentle companionship.Emily does well in a structured environment and benefits from slow introductions and respectful interactions. On leash, she’s easy to manage—she’s not a strong puller and redirects well, though she does like to stop and take in her surroundings. In playgroups, Emily prefers calmer play styles; she enjoys chase and “hide and seek” games and does best with dogs who won’t overwhelm her or expect rough play. She has handled medicated baths and routine care very well and is generally easy to work with. Emily has completed her spay surgery and recovered uneventfully. Her skin condition (alopecia) is being managed and is not painful or itchy, and she’s otherwise healthy and ready to move on to her next chapter.🐶 Emily at a Glance:Fully vetted and spayedCalm, gentle, and observant personalityWalks nicely on leash; redirects easilyWarms up to strangers with a brief introductionTolerates handling and grooming very wellDog-friendly with appropriate, low-pressure play stylesEnjoys chase-style play rather than wrestlingThrives with patience, structure, and consistency🏡 Emily’s Ideal Home:A calm, stable home that respects her need for slow introductionsDog-savvy adopters who understand gentle confidence-buildingCompatible dog companions who won’t overwhelm herA home committed to continuing her skin-care routine as neededEmily is a soft-hearted, steady presence who blossoms when given time and understanding. She’s not flashy or over-the-top—but she’s deeply sweet, loyal, and deserving of a home that sees how special she truly is. 🤎🐾We are open to the public Tuesday - Sunday (1PM - 5PM)!
