Meet Zyta, a beautiful 1-year-old Cane Corso girl who is still learning what it means to feel safe in this world. This baby has never had the chance to experience a normal, happy dog’s life, and it shows. The world is a scary place for her right now, and she needs someone willing to show her that it doesn’t have to be.
Zyta is completely terrified and will need a very special, understanding adopter. She cannot walk on a leash yet, and everyday experiences that many dogs take for granted can feel overwhelming to her. She is not a dog who can simply be taken home and expected to adjust overnight. She will need time, patience, consistency, and a person who understands that building trust is a process that cannot be rushed.
Because Zyta is so frightened, she is currently considered a flight risk. A securely fenced yard is an absolute must, along with careful safety measures to prevent her from slipping away when she is scared. She needs an experienced dog owner who understands fearful dogs and is prepared to help her navigate the world at her own pace. An adopter willing to work with a qualified, force-free trainer or behavior professional would be a wonderful asset to her journey.

Cane Corsos are large, powerful Italian working dogs known for their intelligence, loyalty, and protective instincts. Another well-balanced, confident, dog-friendly dog may help Zyta learn by example. A canine companion could be beneficial, provided introductions are handled carefully and the dogs are compatible.
Please understand that Zyta is not a dog who can be rushed. She needs someone who will advocate for her, protect her, and allow her to discover that the world can be a safe place.
Zyta’s Adoption Requirements
Because of Zyta’s significant fear and current flight risk, we will be very careful about choosing her forever home.
• Adoption fee: $315
• Minimum adopter age: 21 years old
• Experience required: Experienced dog owners only
• Fenced yard: Required; secure fencing is non-negotiable.
• Meet-and-greets: Multiple meet-and-greets may be required to help Zyta become comfortable with her potential adopter before adoption.
• Home visit: A home visit may be required to ensure the environment is safe and suitable for her needs.
• Location: No out-of-state adoptions. Adopters must be local and available to complete our adoption process in person.
We will not rush this process. Zyta’s safety and well-being must come first, and we want to set her up for success in a home that understands the commitment involved in helping a fearful dog.
