Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   If you would like to take me home please complete a Pet Adoption Application   Male, Cane mix. Click on name for more info. This boy and his brother, Toby, were born in November of 2021, and surrendered to us in August of 2022. The two of them had been running around a neighborhood and causing all kinds of havoc. Needless to say, they had no manners or training prior to coming in to us and the world was shut down during this time, so socialization was a problem.  The boys are a Cane Corso mix and weigh in at approximately 70lbs, we have them housed in the sanctuary part of Camp because of their size. In the sanctuary part of Camp the dogs have a room not a kennel, a bed, tv, radio, and a guillotine door to their own private pen, they can go in or outside as they please. Rocky loves his long walks and is strong on a leash, knows simple commands, and is sweet with staff.  Rocky will need multiple meets to be comfortable with you as his person, and any others in the household that live there. NO children under the age of 18 years old.  Corso’s are known for their protective behavior, so a low activity household is best. At 4 years old, this boy is more Corso than whatever he is mixed with, thus living up to his breed. A breed experienced owner is best. Rocky loves his car rides and lying in the sunshine in his pen, “chatting” with his brother Toby in the next pen over!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  December 8, 2025, 9:02 pm

Story
11 months 80 Pounds Cane Corso mix *** Reduced Adoption Fee *** 📢 Foster or Foster to Adopt Needed Mr. Man and his 2 other brothers were being handed out at a store when they were 8 weeks old. Luckily an animal lover took them in but unfortunately she was never able to find homes for them so they were with her all this time. He is a bit shy when you first meet so will need someone willing to give him a little time. Once he trusts you he is a big love bug baby. Mr. Man is absolutely gorgeous with his big yellow eyes and gorgeous brindle. He reminds me of a Panther. He was around cats with his foster mom and is now around children. He needs a little help walking on leash so it would be best if he had a fully fenced yard and a quiet neighborhood to make his transition smooth. Get your applications in. You must have an approved application to come and meet them. Once you submit an application please reach out to us in text or email. We text people so make sure your phone is not blocking unkown callers. Please do not submit an application and then ignore us when we contact you. Story
Meet Starr Shine ACCT-A-238896! This beautiful ten-year-old girl hasn't had the easiest life, but she's hoping there's a special person out there to give her a chance at happiness. Starr Shine was surrendered to ACCT Philly on December 8th from an unstable living situation. Not much is known about her past, but it appears that life has not always been kind to Starr Shine. Here in the shelter, Starr has been quite shy and fearful, but has done exceedingly well during her veterinary exams and vaccinations! Starr has a bit of dental tartar and arrived at the shelter with live fleas and waxy ears, but otherwise appears to be in good health for a pup her age. She's started to come out of her shell more, and participated in playgroup and did quite well. Videos: Starr Shine, Latto, Adeline and Swaggy Joe https://youtu.be/Y9kAfMhb_PA Starr Shine, Latto, Swaggy Joe and Cocoa https://youtu.be/KHsfoNVPNgI Noelle & Starr Shine Meet Part 1: https://youtu.be/R0ZPZXb2FfI Noelle & Starr Shine Meet Part 2: https://youtu.be/LD54bPSPDro Behavior Notes: Per volunteer 12/22: Starr shine has come out of her shell so much. She was ready at the front of the kennel to go out with me and I feel she is more trusting now. She allows pets and seems to enjoy our walk . She is an easy girl to take out . Per staff 12/13: “Starr Shine was on her bed with neutral eyes. i tossed some food in which she ignored. i opened the kennel door and she retreated to the backside. i closed the divider and met her on the backside as she had wide eyes. i showed her the leash and was able to throw a lasso. once secured she came right out. she walked with a lowered body and head, hyper vigilantly looking around. in the room she walked slowly, looking up at me from time other time. i spent maybe 5 minutes with her before attempting some handling. i touched her with the back of my leash first, which she did not react to. i stopped the top of her head and down her back. she was very tolerant. i walked her around some more and she kept checking in. she leaned her body next to me and looked up at me. i touched the e top of her nose and gave her some head pets again.” Per staff 12/11: “Added "good dog meet in shelter" however, she had no reaction to the dog coming to sniff her. Walked away and did not want to interact with the dog.” Per staff 12/11: “Kennel Presentation: Asleep on the Kuranda bed when I approached. I made some kissy noises and had to tap on the door. She finally looked up, and then retreated to the other side of the kennel. Wide eyes, ears to the side and body crouched lowered. Leash Skills: Avoidant of the leash try to dodge past me. Once leash she was hyper vigilant, nub tucked, mildly pulling. Exit searching outside. Sociability: asocial. Brought into the eval room and her eyes were wide, with ears back. I sat down on the chair and she came over and sat next to me. I was able to pet down her side, she stayed sitting down. I offered her a treat and she ate it then she started to drool. Play: n/a Dog Interaction: met king Claus. Wide eyes, ears to the side and King came up and sniffed her face. She stayed still had no reaction and then walked away. Return to Kennel: Clipped and she went into her kennel without hesitation. Color Level: Exp Blue” Per staff 12/8: “Placed on evaluate because Starr was very fearful in intake lobby. Would approach people low to the ground, eyes wide and soft, but then shy away. Will probably need TTA and further evaluation. Other than being very shy and fearful, did not display any overtly concerning behavior except that she cowered and lifted her lip when her owner raised her arm to hit Starr.” Per owner: Starr Shine lived with children, is mostly housebroken, partially create trained, high energy and great on leash. She is nice and cool with strangers and children, runs off cats and sometimes aggresses dogs.” When staff was speaking with the owner they noted, “Starr bit the owners chihuahua Luna on the eye years ago.” Full intake notes are available on request as Owner’s condition may have affected their ability to provide accurate information. Medical Notes: Per an exam on 12/9: -QAR, fearful but showed no aggression. Went very slow, Starr tolerated exam well and took treats. -Mild dental tartar. -Developed mammary tissue, no obvious OVH scar, suspect intact Assessment: -Apparently healthy dog Per an exam on 12/8: -Clear running discharge in both eyes -Ears are dirty, black wax -Coat & skin are flaky, dandruff. Live fleas -Teeth are stained, tartar -Docked tail -BAR, anxious ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
