I’m a little shy when I meet new friends, but once I know you, I’m all cuddles, kisses, and snuggles. I love to stay close to my people and give lots of love. I have a best buddy named Robbie. He’s a Rottie, and we have so much fun playing together and just chilling side by side. I get along with other dogs too, but I’m still learning about new things and big adventures, so a calm home without little kids would make me happiest. Athena is a 4 to 5 year old female Cane Corso . She was found at Hubbard Valley Park in Seville tied to a tree. If you know her and where she belongs please call our office. Athena weighs 92 lbs. Athena is very scared and confused and will take a few days to decompress. Athena is working on her trust issues. She makes a little bit more progress each day. We will post more info on her as we get to know her better. Athena walks nice on a leash. She can sit and give paw. She is a dog that you will not be able to come in and meet her and take her home. She will need several meet and greets to get to know you. She does not trust strangers. But Athena has made huge progress in the past couple weeks. We recommend a home with no small children as she is very nervous around them. She is a no drama kind of girl. ****Update****** Athena is waiting for her right person.. I am so proud of how far she has come. She is now being walked by some of our volunteers. She is still shy with strangers. She is not the same dog that came in. She is more of a ladies dog but with time may learn to like men too. . She is picky about her dog friends a meet and greet is a must!!!! Lets find Athena a home for the holidays. Because she truly deserves it. Dogs are available to meet before their adoption date. The Dog Shelter's adoption fee is $64 (cash or check). All dogs come with DHPP and Bordetella vaccines, microchipped, a current year dog license, and a certificate to be spayed or neutered (The Dog Shelter pays for it). If it is an owner surrender dog, more vaccine information may be provided. Our hours are Monday thru Friday 10AM-12:30PM and 1PM-4PM and Saturdays 10AM to 2PM. You must be present to adopt and have a current approved adoption application.

Imani had a lot of feelings when she first got to the kennel, having been abandoned in her home without food or water, resorting to eating trash and blankets out of hunger. She was angry and upset, and she initially didn`t want to have anything to do with us. But with regular meals and some TLC, that quickly changed, and this lady stopped her yelling and started doling out hugs instead. Imani quickly revealed herself to be a super sweet and affectionate snuggler, practically melting into you at every opportunity. When she sees someone she loves, she has some of the most enthusiastic butt-wiggles in town. Our vet techs immediately recognized that she`s also a smarty-pants and eager to please — she knows sit and paw and down and will cycle through them for cookies; she also appears to be housebroken. Although she can be a little reserved when first meeting new people, once she warms up, she is all gangly happy limbs and goofiness. She loves toys, proudly carrying them with her on walks, and she`s great at self-entertaining. She also loves snow and giant chunks of ice which she will happily skate around on with her front legs. She can be a little unsure around dogs, which likely just comes from a lack of exposure — her attempts at engaging with them can be a little... `socially awkward` as a result. But with regular exposure at the kennel, she seems to be learning that maybe they aren`t that bad after all!This `delightful weirdo` and amazing hugger is only around a year old and now weighs about 60 lbs.
