Story
She's a very high energy puppy that's 7 months old. She loves to cuddle but also likes to play often. Has a habit of jumping on people and tends to pull her leash when she wants to go home. When feeding you must snap and point to the food before she eats. She responds to snapping before most commands but is young enough you can change that response with training.

Story
Liberty is a 9 year old spayed female cane corso who weighs about 115 pounds. She was rescued as part of a humane case in 2020 and she is finally ready to find a home of her own! Liberty is a volunteer favorite and we have spoiled her rotten while she has waited for her court case to settle. She previously lived with other dogs, but due to being by herself over the years, we would prefer that she is the only pet in the home. Liberty is easy going, house trained, walks well on a leash and will be a wonderful addition. Story
MARVEL is a 5 yr old Italian Mastiff (Cane Corso) who came to us after she became protective of her family in their home. Marvel is a victim of Covid-19. With the shelter in place order, her family was not able to properly socialize her and she grew up as a “big fish in a little pond”. Her family had many special needs children and medical care professionals needed to visit the home during the pandemic. They arrived wearing masks and Marvel thought that was very scary and began to protect the children from these masked strangers. The family called in a trainer but, due to the circumstances, everything was a little overwhelming for them. We acquired her on the day she was to be euthanized. Marvel has been fine with us. With a handful of treats she warms up quickly to our volunteers. We did have one incident with an unannounced visitor who approached her quickly and the result was a bite. In a home she may revert to her protectiveness so we are looking for a family with Cane Corso experience - walking the line between socialization and keeping her safe. Cane Corsos were originally war dogs during the Roman empire and used for protection - it is ingrained in their DNA. They have also been used for drafting and droving cattle – IE they need a job to do. Just sitting around the house twiddling their thumbs is a recipe for disaster which is what got Marvel into the situation in the first place. We have paired Marvel with playful young male dogs and they do well together with supervision (Marvel tends to play rough and takes the upper hand). We feel that she could work out in a home with a well-adjusted male dog to show her appropriate dog behavior or as an only pup. Not cat compatible. Marvel can fly over a 4 foot fence so 6 foot privacy fencing is ideal. If you are the home that we are looking for, please fill out an application at www.CompAnimals.org. Marvel is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. Adoption $300.November 3, 2024, 10:40 am

Story
Panther was brought to ACCT Philly on January 9, 2026 after being found on a front porch, where neighbors reported she had been lingering for several days and being fed by people on the block. When officers arrived, Panther was understandably fearful and unsure of what was happening, but she was safely secured and transported to the shelter. Since intake, Panther has shown herself to be a gentle, soft, and sensitive pup. She is clearly a dog who relies heavily on human reassurance and does best with slow, calm interactions. While the shelter environment is overwhelming for her, she has consistently demonstrated that she is tolerant, cooperative, and capable of forming trusting bonds. Panther walks closely with her handler on leash, seeks out affection, and especially enjoys gentle pets on her head and face—often leaning in or resting her head in a volunteer’s lap. She takes treats politely, allows full handling, and has shown appropriate, mostly neutral to wiggly interactions with other dogs, though she can become stiff or shut down if unsure. Panther would do best in an adult-only home with patient adopters who understand fearful dogs and can help her continue building confidence at her own pace. She is hesitant to walk in the shelter and needs lots of encouragement. She walks very close to her handler and relies heavily on human comfort. Panther takes treats gently and enjoys pets, especially on her head/face. She will lay her head in your lap for attention. She met a dog through the fence and was mildly interested but quickly moved on. 01/14/2026 per staff: Kennel Presentation: At the front of her kennel with ears to the side, soft eyes and neutral body. Took a treat gently through the bars. Leash Skills: When I was putting the leash over her head her ears went back and wide eyes ( whale eyeing) Use a treat to lure through. Walks right next to you on the leash with a loose leash. Sociability: Leans in to your legs for slow and gentle petting. She will follow you around the pen. She is a quiet girl and can be nervous. Allowed all handling. Play: Did not engage with any toys. Dog Interaction: Met Goliath and Quini. Was loose and wiggly with Goliath. With Quini she was stiff just standing still when quini sniffed her. Return to Kennel: Went right into kennel without hesitation and unleash without issues. Color Level: Exp Gold 01/10/2026 per staff: timid, head low, whale eye, lip licks, head turns away. Tolerant, tucked tail, distraction using food used, no restraint for any part of the exam, even the microchip Per staff 1/9/26 6:40pm was giving warning barks on porch upon arrival, neighbor came out and was able to leash her. Since he already had control of the dog I allowed him to try getting her on truck to avoid startling her. Tail tucked and whale eyeing, snapped toward neighbors arm, no contact made. Immediately put on pole and put in truck. Does not appear aggressive just scared and confused. Medical Notes 01/15/2026 Tech Exam: Canine URI This dog has been observed to have shelter acquired upper respiratory infection (URI), or a "doggy cold". They have been started on medication, and will be monitored for resolution of the respiratory infection.
