Story

Meet our sweet senior gal Ariel!Ariel is looking for a home where she can live out her golden years and be spoiled as she deserves. She's a chatty girl, and loves having conversations with her people. Having previously lived with another cat and a dog, her life was very stressful, and she showed signs of not being pleased with sharing her space. She will be best off in a home as the only pet, so she can live stress free.Ariel is sweet and affectionate once youve earned her trust, and will happily swirl your legs and bop you with her head for love. She has been making a lot of progress feeling comfortable here, and will make great strides in a loving home environment. If you're interested in Ariel, send us an application or come down to the Comox Valley branch to meet her! We are open Tuesday to Saturday from 12-4pm. https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/cat-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Calico Weight: 3.56 Age: 10yrs 1mths 0wks

Good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,

Story

Meet Constance. 😎This sophisticated senior lady oozes confidence, curves, and a complete disinterest in your unsolicited fitness advice. Yes, she's carrying a few extra pounds. She knows it. The scale knows it. We all know it. Constance, however, prefers to think of it as being exceptionally well prepared for sweater weather. 🍂Constance is on a slow, but steady weight loss journey, and has come a ways since coming into care! Although dieting is not her fav, Constance is happy to work those arms catching toys on a string! After being introduced to her fancy new running (or walking) wheel, Constance showed us it makes better furniture than exercise equipment. There are also a couple of important things to know about life with Constance.First: bum scratches are a hard no. Please respect the lady's boundaries. 😂Neck scratches, though? THAT is where the magic happens. Find the right spot and one of those back legs starts kicking like she's suddenly transformed into a dog getting the world's greatest belly rub. It's one of the few times she temporarily forgets she's supposed to be dignified.Second: Constance is an absolutely terrible hider. When she's getting used to a new space, she may decide she needs a little privacy. Her technique usually involves putting her head behind something and leaving a significant portion of Constance completely visible. Behind a curtain? Perfect. Never mind the bum sticking out. If she can't see you, clearly you can't see her. Please play along. 🕵️‍♀️Once she's comfortable, Constance is wonderfully calm, quiet and content. She likes to observe what's happening around her, enjoy some affection on her terms, and simply hang out with her people. She doesn't need to be in the middle of everything - she's perfectly happy being your laid-back little sidekick.Constance is also on a daily thyroid medication to help keep her feeling her best. It's an inexpensive medication, and thankfully, she takes it like an absolute champ. 💊Constance has a dental surgery booked on Oct 15th and she will be able to go home once she has recovered from that. ❤️If your home could use a calm senior lady with excellent comedic timing, strong opinions about where she may be scratched, and absolutely no understanding of how hiding works, Constance may just be your girl.Submit a pre-adoption questionnaire at the link below or contact the Centre to learn more about fostering-to-adopt Constance. 🐾https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/cat-pre-adoption-questionnaire/Constance, spayed female, 12 years, ID# 627936 Primary Color: Black Weight: 8.69 Age: 12yrs 3mths 1wks

Cruz

Domestic Shorthair

Spayed or Neutered,

Story

Cruz came into our care needing some immediate medical attention. We don't know exactly how he was injured, but unfortunately, somehow, Cruz broke his hind right leg as well as his tail. He required surgical intervention to repair his leg as well as a tail amputation. Even through all this Cruz's spirits have remained high and he has continued to be a happy, loving, social boy. Cruz is super friendly, he loves to snuggle and rub on you and be right in your face, he is also very chatty and even though he won't tell us what happened to him to cause his injuries, he is not afraid to chat about everything else, what time dinner is at, why his litter box hasn't been scooped yet, why is he not getting more treats, and the list goes on. Cruz is still a young active cat, so being on "light duties" and "restricted access" has been a bit challenging for him, but he is doing his best to accept shorter play sessions, and not jumping on high surfaces or having crazy zoomies. Cruz also really wants to play with the other animals in his current foster home, so we believed that he has lived with other animals in his previous home, and would adjust to a new home with other pets. We can tell that Cruz is used to playing rough, however, and that he is used to being very active and playful, and even though you wouldn't be able to tell that he's recently had surgery, it is still extremely important that he continue to be kept calm and quiet for the remainder of his recovery period to make sure that he fully heals and has no complications that would extend his recovery time. Cruz still requires follow up Xrays to be fully cleared from his surgeries, so we are looking for a foster to adopt home that will continue to work on his recovery until he is fully healed and his adoption can be finalized. We are also looking for a home that has the current ability to keep him from jumping on high surfaces, climbing stairs, or playing to exuberantly with other animals in the home. If you think that Cruz may be a good fit for you and you want to find out more information about him, please reach out to the centre or put in one of our online applications.
